Yep...after pasteurising all the almonds already, the USDA are after your leafy greens now…following the supposed spinach-related ‘e coli’ outbreaks last year, a proposed new law would essentially squish out small and medium sized growers with specified, institutionalised growing rules for ALL leafy greens. So, on the subject of leafy greens…I was absolutely DELIGHTED to go on a 4 hour long forage this morning with a local ‘bush tucker’ guy called Cockatoo Paul…WOW…the plant knowledge this man holds is simply phenomenal…he left home when he was around 16…he ended up living on the streets, destitute and hungry. He then realised that Aboriginal people had been living on this land for centuries with no issues and set about learning what to eat from them. He has now been learning for about 20 years. It was such a gift to me to spend a few hours looking at the local landscape through the eyes of someone who sees it all so differently…I learnt and tasted SO much…it is my desire to learn more and more about foraging and wild edibles, especially considering any bizarre laws that may be introduced for commercially-grown produce ;)…I would love to download the contents of Cockatoo Paul’s head into mine… Instead I put my new knowledge to immediate use this afternoon and picked my own little collection of edibles, including these ext-RAW-dinary purple berries (see pic) that I’d been eyeing for days and assuming couldn’t be edible for us – the colour just looked too intense…WELL, turns out they’re called ‘dianella lily’ and they’re delicious. Thanks BTW for all the Paul Potts-related emails and updates from y’all – SO, it seems I was indeed months out of date with that story ;) Thanks for letting me know that he DID in fact win the talent show and has since gone on to sell over 2 million copies of his debut album and wow audiences all over the world – including an appearance on Oprah, apparently – WOW – what a beautiful story…I poked around on YouTube a bit and there are many clips of him there that have been watched MILLIONS of times…here’s one of him winning the final…aaaaaaaahhh, so inspiring…I get shivers every time I watch him sing…

THAT'S Entertainment...

This morning smthg arrived in my inbox that left me sobbing uncontrollably with joy and appreciation. It was a video link to a ‘talent show’ in the UK, featuring a guy called Paul Potts. Paul is a very gentle, unassuming, sincere young man from Wales. He is a phone salesman. He was bullied as a child and says he ‘never understood why’. He also says his voice was always his best friend…just watch the clip and you’ll see why…this quiet, introverted ‘underdog’ opens his heart and his mouth and sings opera with extraordinary passion and a voice comparable to any world class tenor. It is simply awe-inspiring to see. As I listen to him sing, I sense pure spirit working through him – he seems to be absolutely in flow as he sings…for me it is so beautiful to see someone who has clearly experienced a great deal of confidence issues in his life shine so magnificently and truly – no ego glory, just a direct and sweeeeet connection to the divine core in himself and all of us - the audience and judges are greatly moved and me…? I’m shaking with tears, blown away by the beauty of his sharing...seeing him reminds me that we are ALL illuminated from within with that divine spark of glory that connects us to the infinite…so few people seem to open up their light and let it shine…and in this video, Paul Potts does just that…whatever perceptions people may have of him from the outside, the glory within this man shines here with absolute clarity. I have no idea what is happening with this talent programme in the UK…so perhaps he’s a household name there already and I’m months behind in receiving this video…in any event, this man is a beacon of light in my eyes and I’d love for you to see him sing – you can see the clip here:

2 pieces of magic raw pizza from Mr Monarch – base of soaked buckwheat blended with coconut flour. Topping of avo mashed with sundried hummus and fresh chopped tomatoes, powdered with coconut flour and pieces of sundried tomato

½ a ‘rollinia’ fruit, ½ a tiny red-fleshed papaya, 1 big juicy mango and a yummy medium-sized papaya

2 cups cucumber/sunflower greens/carrot juice
nori wraps with curry hummus, followed by Ulimanamana chocolate balls = *danger*danger* cracao-ed and dangerous raw woman… ;)

OOoooooOoOoOoooo, yesterday we visited ‘Tropical Fruit World’…yeeeeeeeeee-HAH :) This is a little bit like a kind of fruit ‘Disneyland’…yet look beyond the slick pre-packaged tourism tracks and you’ll find a farm that has been growing fruits since 1908, is about 80% organic and sports a greatly knowledgeable and friendly staff. We tried a few different things, my favourite of which by FAAAAAAAAR was the ‘rollinia’ fruit…we apparently got THE last fruit of the season and it was definitely worth it…WOW…this fruit LITERALLY tastes like lemon meringue pie…UN.BEL.IEV.ABLE…we’d never tasted anything like it…we would have bought cases of the things if they’d had anymore…

on November the 28th I had:

1 quart water
1.2 quarts watermelon/orange juice
bowl of papaya flesh with lime juice
bowl of avo mushed up with lime juice and Celtic seasalt, wrapped in nori rolls, with Mexican powersticks on the side
2 cups water
2.5 cups spinach/parsley/cucumber/carrot/ginger juice
1 mango and 3 durian pods
3 cups green smoothie: peach/banana/romaine/dandelion/clover/spirulina with a diced apple and half a handful of sultanas for chewability
3 cups water

Hmmmm...and while we’re on the topic of ‘Disneyland-like' places, I stumbled on a very eye-opening article on the Freshtopia Vlog recently. Apparently the ‘It’s a Small World’ ride at Disneyland has been closed for re-fitting, as the boats are frequently getting ‘grounded’ under the weight of their passengers. Have you been loving the Raw Summit 2? I HAVE :) I barely heard any of the first Raw Summit due to a fast-paced lifestyle at that time – now I’m listening in every day – yummy :) Some of my highlights so far were hearing Rod Rotondi of Leaf Cuisine speaking about how they don’t have ‘trash’ at the Leaf restaurants – just one pile for recycling and one for compost :O GO ROD :) I love it… It was great for me to hear Annie Jubb share her experience – I’d never heard her speak before at all and she seems to have a great deal of grounded, loving guidance to share. Go raw women speakers ;)
I was also really happy to hear Sergei Boutenko speak about the Boutenko family’s trek along the Pacific Coast Trail when he was about 13. That journey is described in Raw Family, the Boutenko’s book which helped me shift the track of my life 5 years ago…I’ve never heard any of them SPEAK about the trek though…it was SO beautiful to me to hear Sergei talk about how he started out thinking it would be desperately dull and packing his Gameboy, to absolutely revelling in the experience, eating 70% foraged foods and now sharing his foraging skills with others all over the world :) Hmmmm…I would love to do a pilgrimage at some point…

When I was Juice Feasting this time last year, one of the most influential things I read during that time was ‘The Law of Attraction’ (LOA) by Esther and Jerry Hicks. I learnt something interesting recently. Apparently at the time of the full moon, any parasites in our intestines release their hold on our insides and this is an optimal time to flush them out. Hmmmm…well, I’m not sure how many parasites I have any more…I decided though today that I’d like to help move on out anyone who IS still in there – that’s why I made a tomato sauce with 3 CLOVES of garlic ;) The guys who told me about this process recommended using Wormwood tincture at this time of the moon cycle – I didn’t have that, so garlic was my anti-parasite choice…we’ll see what happens… ;)

Thanks and Gratitude...

Ok, this might come a little late for many of you…forgive the time difference ;) I want to wish a very joyous HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all American readers of this e-journal and those enjoying this holiday in the US…
Have you written out a gratitude list lately? Here are five things I am currently grateful for and enjoying (in no particular order)… ;)

1. All of you who wrote in to let me know that the link for Mr Monarch’s Raw Spirit Fest 10 minute video didn’t really work…THANK YOU and SORRY ;) Here it is again:


On November the 21st I had:

1 quart water
1 pint pineapple/orange juice
1 quart celery/arugula/cucumber/sunflower greens/carrot juice
3 cups water
3tbsp chia soaked in blended banana/black sapote, swirled with mulberries
little bag of cherries
½ papaya
2 cups water
3 cups celery/romaine/cucumber/carrot juice
bowl of soaked sea spaghetti
3 cups green smoothie: banana/mango/sunflower greens/romaine/alfalfa/spirulina, swirled with goji berries

2. The abundant wildlife where we are here in OZ. It’s amazing…there are creatures everywhere, all over and around our house…the majestic water dragons, baby lizards, frogs, incredible-sounding birds, troops of ants, wandering bugs and cockroaches, the biggest bats I’ve EVER seen who play outside our porch at night and apparently…snakes…eeeek ;) I loved the way our landlord put it when we moved in…”ah, don’t worry about the snakes, I haven’t seen one for…weeks…”

3. PRODUCE – the abundance of fresh fruit and greens here is absolutely divine. We’re especially enjoying the black sapotes at the moment (chocolate pudding fruit), as you may have noticed… ;) We recently visited a hilarious local farmer named John who showed us all around his tropical fruit farm and we handpicked a bag full of sapotes, custard apples and the most bizarre ‘Brazilian cherries’…yummmmm…people are so friendly :)

On November the 22nd I had:

1 quart water
1 pint sugar cane juice (YUMMY)
1 quart outrageous green juice – I don’t even know what many of the ingredients were…amazing vibrant fresh market greens with carrot
2 cups nectarine/cherry/banana/sunflower greens/romaine/alfalfa green smoothie
macadamia/cilantro pesto in nori/romaine wraps with slices of tomato/avo/cucumber and fresh sprouts
3 cups water
1 pint of more ext-RAW-dinary green juice with carrots
bowl of blended banana/black sapote swirled with mulberries, with a slice of raw lemon cheesecake – yummmmmm ;)
3 cups water

4. Walking and running barefoot. I LOVE that so many people here walk around with no shoes on…it just seems to fit here, with people walking straight off the beaches for example and into the towns…the streets are clean enough that there’s not much concern about broken glass etc…then today we went barefoot running on the nearby beach too…WOW…what an absolute joy…we are right next to miles and miles of virtually deserted, gorgeous sandy beaches, with a type of sand I’ve never encountered before – it’s so compacted, it leaves almost no trace of a footprint, making it so easy to run for MILES on the flat shoreline…bliss :)

5. LOVE. Blessings be for the love I share with my beloved, with my friends, with my family, both blood-related and otherwise, with all of you who connect to the energy of this e-journal, to all of you who reach out to your brothers and sisters with genuine joy, compassion and acceptance in your heart…

Coastal Life...

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO excited…we've moved into our own place :))) There has been so very much movement and travelling in our lives recently and I was feeling completely ready to break up that pattern. Today we did it. We just moved into our own little flat on the east coast of Australia and it is absolutely WONDERFUL – I am just wiggling with excitement here…it was totally gifted to us from the universe – a serene, quiet hill-side setting with sweeping views over forests down to the ocean, a gorgeous garden (with a HUGE compost ;), uber-kind and friendly landlords and there was even a juicer waiting in the kitchen for us as we arrived ;O The kitchen window is like an observation tank at a zoo – it overlooks a trickling waterfall pond, where ‘water dragons’ bask magnificently in the sunshine. Many of these large lizard-like creatures live here – I counted 6 sitting out there at one point this afternoon – and they seem to be aware that we are behind glass and not there to trouble them…in fact, perhaps from their perspective they think they’re watching US in a ‘human zoo’ ;) I am just so thrilled to STOP somewhere for the next couple of months and get on with writing my book – yeeeeeeeeeeeee-HAH ;)

on November the 18th I had:

1 quart water
1 medium papaya
2.5 cups celery/cucumber/parsley/spinach/carrot juice
1 cup water
bowl of soaked mulberries blended with pistachios
2 cups water
3 cups cucumber/carrot/parsley/romaine juice
2 black sapotes
bowl of sea spaghetti covered with a mixture of avo mushed with spinach hummus, alfalfa, chopped tomatoes and Celtic sea salt, with baby spinach, sunflower greens, cilantro and sliced cucumbers on the side
3 cups water

SO many of you have written to ask ‘WHAT IS SEA SPAGHETTI…???’ Hmmm, I’m sorry it’s taken a while to answer this…
WELL…the sea spaghetti I’ve been eating in the last few months is, without question, one of my absolute FAVOURITE raw foods. It is a seaweed that seems to grow mainly around the shores of western Europe. It is completely phenomenal – have you tried it…? It’s LITERALLY like eating pasta…and forget sloppy stringy spiralised raw zucchini ‘pasta’ – THIS stuff is the real deal – it’s like al dente linguini – flat, long strips of chewy, soft, salty, ‘meaty’, nutrient-packed YUM. Sea spaghetti is rich in absorbable iron, potassium and vitamin c. The Latin name for this seaweed is Himanthalia Elongata and it’s also sometimes known as ‘Thongweed’ in English. Although it only really seems to grow in the oceans around western Europe, we have magic-ed some importing wizardry and now have this outrageously yummy product for sale in North America :) WOW (: This is, as far as we know, an exclusive – no-one else seems to sell sea spaghetti beyond Europe, so, I’m very excited that we now have it in the RawReform Store. I eat seaweeds almost daily – it’s SO key for getting plenty of minerals into your body - and this is easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted. You can soak it for just 30 mins and it’s ready to munch, I prefer to soak it overnight though – that way it seems to feel more easily digestible. You only need to use a small amount, as it’s SO dense and filling and expands a lot during soaking. After soaking, you can literally just eat it as it is, it’s SO delicious…OR make a sauce to pour over it…I like to just mix it up with something like pumpkin seed butter, Celtic sea salt, cumin powder and hemp seeds for example…yummmmmmm…then today we made a ‘sauce’ of mashed avo with alive hummus, chopped tomatoes and sprouts and stirred that in…you can create dishes that LITERALLY taste like the cooked pasta dishes you may be missing and craving – yet are SO much more nourishing for you – WOW :) Hmmm...I think I could rave on about sea spaghetti for a few more pages yet - I'll just let you go and see more about it for yourself though HERE and maybe even order some to try and... ENJOOOOOOOOOOY :)

I really enjoyed listening to Michael Beckwith yesterday – he seems like a really sweet man – my favourite part was when he described how he likes to communicate with people who may seem like they are at the start of their spiritual journey – he equated it to seeing them like a child who is learning to ride a bike, with training wheels – it’s unlikely one would jeer at such a child for not already using a standard bike – in the same way, it seems less-than-generous to judge those who may not seem to be at the same space as you/others on their spiritual path – give them love, support, encouragement and the whole is served with much more kindness…lovely :) If you have not yet signed up for the second Summit, you can do so HERE:


On November the 16th I had:

1 quart water
3 cups parsley/spinach/lettuce/romaine/carrot/sprouts/wild greens juice
3 cups banana/wild greens smoothie
big chunk of gorgeous watermelon
bowl of soaked dried apricots blended with hemp seeds

1 avo mushed with chopped cilantro, lime juice, Celtic sea salt and dulse, stuffed in nori with sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumber, sunflower greens and spinach
2 cups rooibos tea

I’ve been intending to share this picture/tip for quite some time now…well, here we are - a delightful little idea for eating watermelon, that I picked up from a woman in Asheville, NC… Rather than slicing a chunk of a melon off completely and exposing a large section of it to the air to oxidise, instead, cut a hole in the side of the melon, like a kind of hatch (see picture) and then use a spoon/ice cream scoop/similar to scoop out as much melon as you want at a time, before setting the ‘hatch’ back in place…it’s very clever and works really well I find…enjoy ;)

on November the 17th I had:

1.5 quarts water
half a medium sized watermelon
bowl of YUMMY green smoothie – mango/banana/sunflower greens/spinach/lettuce, swirled with goji berries for chewability ;)
bowl of mulberries blended with macadamia nuts
3 cups water
½ a papaya and 1 black sapote

avo mushed with chopped cilantro, lime juice, Celtic sea salt and dulse, stuffed in nori with sliced tomatoes, sliced cucumber, sunflower greens and spinach

Guess WHAT? This is the 250th Post on this e-journal ;O WOW…what a journey we’ve come on…it was almost exactly a year ago now that I posted the first blog entry here – on November the 19th 2006, to be precise – you can check that first post out HERE if you weren’t around way back then ;)
I started this e-journal at the beginning of my 92-Day Juice Feast…I’d just arrived days before to Costa Rica, had no juicer and had never written a blog before, yet it all flowed into place and I came to LOVE this medium of communication – it feels like writing an email to the world, to me…and so, looooong after the Feasting ceased, the writing still continues…and here we are today, 250 posts in…mmmmm…thanks for sharing in this journey that has taken us from Costa Rica to Australia with countless stops on the way, from liquids to solids back-and-forth and through engagement announcements, visa traumas and all manner of yummy daily recipe run-downs in-between… ;) It’s been a pleasure…and here’s to another 250 posts of ext-RAW-dinary adventures ;)

Inspiration and Synchronicities Abounding...

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, what a YUMMY day it’s been…we rose early, packed up and set off for the wholesale organic markets in Sydney – yumyumyum – baby spinach by the box-load, huge juicy red organic watermelons, marvellous mangoes by the case and so on…then we drove across country with a friend for most of the day. It felt GREAT to me to get out of the city and see more of the countryside – breathing deep, noticing the differences in the look of the forests here, dozing in and out of sleep to unfolding scenes of beautiful lakes, forests, hills, farmlands and more… We arrived in Coff’s Harbour on the east coast in the early evening, where we met our delightful hosts for the evening – two youthful brothers of 19 and 21 whose commitment to sustainable (raw) lifestyles I find simply staggering. At the ages of 14 and 12 these guys apparently decided to go raw and did so, much to the astonishment of all around them. Now they are both studying to become alternative health practitioners, have bought a lovely plot of land here that they have started to farm and are working on a property there to open as a retreat centre. The integrity, skill, genuine love and care for all life around them is so clear in these guys. I find it so inspiring and such a blessing to share with them for a while on this land they are caretaking. Rarely have I met ANYONE in the raw foods movement so committed, clear and passionate about their vision – and to witness that in two healthy young guys who have many potential decades yet to share their blessings in this area, is just beautiful to me…

On November the 15th I had:

1 pint celery/spinach/carrot/ginger/parsley juice
1 avocado, box of baby spinach and a little handful of macadamias

The speed of ‘synchronicities’ and manifestations here in Australia seems quite phenomenally rapid to me at the moment :) I love it. I am very accustomed to experiencing a great deal of flow in my life and that things manifest after I have set my clear intentions – here, it just all seems to be at an ultra-rapid pace for me :) It’s so much fun and I’ve been really appreciating it…it seems as if there’s something about the people, the culture, the energy here that feels pretty ‘grounding’ to me – a real ‘down-to-earthness’ that I maybe haven’t had as much contact with recently and it feels to me as if that really contributes in some way to the rapid-fire synchronicities – as if there’s somehow less ‘surface stuff’ to cut through and more immediate alignment…nice ;)

on November the 16th I had:

1 quart water
small piece of pineapple
huge piece of watermelon
bowl of soaked mulberries blended with hemp seeds
3 cups water
little bag of cherries
½ a papaya and a mango
handful of macadamia nuts, 5 romaine leaves
bowl of mango/cucumber/tomato/cilantro/spinach salad, with extra spinach ;)
1 quart water

I didn’t have any veggie juice today…hmmmmm…not sure the last time THAT happened…I miss the greens sooooo much on days like this when all is travel…I feel in some ways ‘closer to nature’ of course, just eating simple whole foods, no food prep whatsoever – and yet it also feels a little ‘imbalanced’ to me too, to have so few greens in the space of a day…well, one day at a time…very soon we will be settled in our own new place and the veggie juices will be flowing in abundance again ;) Yeeeeeeeeeee-HAH ;)

Chopstix and Chocolates...

OOOooooOooooo, I’m so excited – I finally worked out how to upload things from the video Mr Monarch made at Raw Spirit Fest, onto YouTube :) YAY :) So, as promised, here is the little snippet of him collecting my ‘Golden Chopstix’ award for being an ‘Up-and-Coming Raw Food Leader’- sweeeeeet ;)

Flax Crackers; my Bridge into 100% Raw...

I was very excited to receive this piece of news recently from Iceland:

November 09 | First Compost Station Opens in Iceland
The first compost station in Iceland, located at Gránumóar near Saudárkrókur in northwest Iceland, was formally opened yesterday after two years of preparations.

WOW. As perhaps you’re aware, composting is a passion of mine…and this news is especially exciting for me, as I used to live in Iceland, on-and-off for 3.5 years, during which time I often tried to encourage more composting and get involved in promoting more Agenda 21 work…in a country with absurd soil erosion issues, it baffled me entirely that no-one seemed to compost…so, I am absolutely delighted to read this news that an actual Compost STATION has now been created there…I guess maybe municipal compost collections will start then to gather up people’s leftovers – NICE :)

On November the 10th I had:

3 cups water
2 cups watermelon/orange juice
1lb cherries
bowl of soaked dried mulberries blended with hemp seeds
1 quart water
3 cups parsley/spinach/lettuce/arugula/carrot juice

Last night we spoke to a delightful audience here in Sydney. We were extremely blessed to have the lovely Julie of Conscious Choice present, catering the event with her outstanding cakes and truffles. WOW. Now, Matt and I travel all over the world trying different raw foods – and I can truly say I don’t recall seeing such beautifully presented desserts anywhere else…apparently, Julie is an ex-pastry chef and it definitely shows…her creations are outstanding…and made with SO much love by this gentle, happy soul – YUMMY :)

on November the 11th I had:

bowl of avo mushed with sundried tomato hummus, alfalfa, mung sprouts and Celtic sea salt, stuffed in nori sheets, with a pack of Mexican power sticks

OOoooooOOoooo, we’ve been just LOVING the alive hummus packs from Matter of Flax (as you can probably tell – we’ve been eating them almost every day for the last few days ;) We just added the spinach and dill flavours to the RawReform Store – both feel very gently yummy to me – I enjoy the dill especially ;) I am TOTALLY loving the new Mineral-Rich Flax Crackers too, which we also just added to the site. Mr Monarch brought lots of random raw food yum out here with him and these crackers are just outstanding. They’re so thick that you can easily use them as a pizza base and feature the most delicious combination of pumpkin, sesame and flax seeds with dulse – it’s extraordinary – I can’t actually really work out in fact HOW they managed to end up tasting so great, as the ingredients are really simple…just the technique and the love in the product I guess ;) I have a particular soft spot for flax crackers – as many of you know, my final ‘hurdle’ of the cooked food world was rice cakes… I was on about a packet of rice cakes a day at the end of my cooked food eating…I was thoroughly addicted…then one day I thought to myself ‘why do I keep eating these things? They taste like cardboard…I could be eating flax crackers instead…’ …and so I did…I laid down the packet of rice cakes once and for all and flax crackers became my bridge to a healthier, 100% raw life :) They became my truly healthy alternative to bread. That was about 2.5 years ago now…and while it is of course very easy to make flax crackers, I also love to try other people’s and these 'Mineral-Rich' creations are highly recommended…you can see more about them on the RawReform Store HERE.

Intense Times...

So I’ve been learning some fascinating things since arriving in Aus…I was not aware that this country is amidst a severe water shortage. The consequences of course are manymanymany-fold…one of them being that crops are ‘failing’. Grains in particular are being affected – the wheat and barley crops have been particularly small…consequently, people worldwide are seemingly feeling great concern that there is ‘not enough’ grain to go round and it was just announced that Japan for example - who apparently import 90% of their food supply – are using national emergency funds to purchase grain from wherever they can… :O This fascinates me…it seems to me that we started cultivating grains, by-passed the food chain, started feeding grains to other animals and basically got ourselves thoroughly addicted to the stuff and wrapped up in a perversely resource-intensive, apparent dependency on grains…and now when that grain supply seems to be dwindling, humans are freaking out…when in truth, we could all be eating straight from the earth and growing our own food supplies quite easily, if that is what we choose…(in this country it seems that might require vastly re-structured water management systems…and perhaps the situation is ‘beyond redemption’ by now… and yet…there is always a choice…)
My friends tell me that farmers here are being offered $150,000 to walk away from their land, as there is no water to sustain the farms. Of much greater concern to me than the grain crops, I was saddened to hear that entire fruit orchards are being levelled, as there is no water to feed the trees…wow…intense times…

bowl of mulberries blended with hemp seed

Epic Raw Plane Journeys...


Sooo…I am finally arrive-ed in Sydney :) HELLOOOOOO Australia :)))
Yeeeeeeee-HAH…25 hours of travel and a shocking number of time zones later, here I am…and I am very grateful to have arrived. My gracious hosts from Sydney raw food group ‘Gifts From Gaia’ came to meet me and took me on a quick tour to see the beautiful beaches and hilly climbs of Sydney…the opera house, the harbour bridge, the organic food stores – I’ve barely arrived and I’ve already seen them all ;) I am overawed by the beautiful Jacaranda trees with their purple leaves and pale bark…I can definitely feel that I’m on a different continent – the plants and air and bird calls all seem different…and on my first trip out to the garden I even met a Kookoburra – what a welcome :) Mr Monarch arrives tomorrow morning and we speak on Saturday at the Intuitive Well from 6pm – more details HERE.

On November the 6th I had:

1 quart water
2.5 cups celery/romaine/carrot/ginger/radish juice
1 dragon fruit
little bowl of banana blended with persimmons, then swirled with cinnamon, raisins and chia seeds
1.5 cups peppermint tea
1 pint water
2 satsumas, 2 golden kiwi fruit
little bowl of kale/avo salad stuffed in nori rolls
‘fruit salad’ with bits of pineapple, orange, raisins, banana
2 tbsp bee pollen with hemp seeds
handful of dried persimmon pieces
1 pint water
1lb longans
1 banana
3 cups water

Hmmmm…it’s kind of challenging to say what I ate on which day while flying, as the whole thing was a bit of a blur and seems like a distant dream already…I was basically just eating small amounts, regularly, as I felt hungry. I had some of my own food with me and then had also ordered the ‘fruit platter’ option from the airline (some of which was great and some of which was…tinned fruit cocktail… ;)

on November the 7th I had:

2 cups water
little bowl of melon fruit salad, a handful of dried fruits
2 persimmons
1 ‘Asian’ pear
2 cups water
another little bowl of melon fruit salad
1 avo mushed with a little hemp seed/bee pollen mixture and Celtic seasalt, wrapped in nori rolls, with a homemade sundried tomato flax cracker
3 cups water
little bag of FRESH CHERRRRRRIIIIIIIIIESSSSSSSS :)))
1 quart celery/cucumber/spinach/carrot juice
little handful of brazil nuts with nori sheets
2 cups water

Here are some top tips for raw plane travellers, compiled after my epic journey here…

*Bring lots of your own food. You can bring pretty much whatever food you like onto the plane – you’re just unlikely to be able to take much off with you at your destination on the other side, so try to eat or share what you have ;)
*I recommend bringing plenty of water-rich foods with you, to help you stay hydrated, especially considering the strict regulations around carrying liquids on planes now. I’d recommend bringing foods like cucumbers, apples, persimmons, mangoes, papaya, longans, dragon fruit and so on. I’d also recommend bringing things that feel exciting to you, so it’s like an adventure… :)
*Constipation is very common among plane travellers – partly from dehydration, partly from the stress of being in a different environment etc. Help yourself to avoid an unpleasant stuffed feeling by drinking plenty of water, breathing deeeeeeep and doing ‘breath of fire’ breathing if you’re familiar with it – it will help you to release. I’d also thoroughly recommend bringing prunes with you to eat for this reason – preferably soaked first (with soak water drained off though, because of the liquid restrictions).
*I’d further recommend bringing a few heavier items to eat too – a couple of avos, some hemp seeds maybe, bee pollen etc – so that you’ve got smthg more grounding too. (Though taking hemp seed with you to some countries may be risky – check regulations first ;)
*Wear/carry VERY warm clothes for the flight. It might seem like you won’t need them, yet it can get VERY cold though in pressurized cabins and especially if you’re trying to sleep, it is absolutely worth bringing a few extra items of clothing to stay warm.
*Flights seem like an ideal time to me to go into deep meditation. There is lots of ‘downtime’ to get into a real space of love and radiate that energy out to fellow beings. The last part of my journey here for example was a flight with a very sweet, restful energy – almost everyone on board was asleep…as I took a periodic wander around to stretch my legs, it was joyful for me to radiate love through the whole gathered company of brothers and sisters…I don’t think I’ve ever been in the presence of so many sleeping people at once… ;)

Raw 'Fast Food' ;)

Ok…so…I’m still on the same continent…lol ;) Though not for much longer – tomorrow I truly truly am destined to depart for OZ…in the meantime, I shall take this opportunity to answer a few of your food related queries

Where do you get maca and in what form?

When you write ‘avo’, do you mean avocados?
YES :)

How do you integrate raw cacao nibs into recipes?
Hmmmm, well, I usually grind nibs up first in a coffee grinder before using them – they seem a bit too harsh to me otherwise…then, once I have them as a powder, I just throw them in any recipe – for example, they’d go just fine in ANY of those chia recipes on the Chia Cheat Sheet I posted a couple of days back…or you might mix the powder with coconut butter and agave/raw honey for some yummy raw chocolate, throw it in a food processor with any mixture of dried fruit and nuts/seeds to make ‘cacao bliss balls’ and so on…you may also want to take a look at the book ‘Naked Chocolate’ by the cacao King and Queen themselves – you can see that HERE… ;)

On November the 3rd I had:

2.5 cups water
1.5 cups warm water with lemon juice
1 quart cilantro/celery/radish/ginseng/dill/apple/carrot juice
bowl of kale/hemp ‘tabbouleh’ with nori sheets and fresh homemade flax crackers
2 cups water
1 quart celery/radish/romaine/ginger/carrot/parsley juice
bowl of durian blended with banana, cinnamon, ¼ vanilla pod, swirled with ground almonds and raisins
2 cups water

Hmmmmm…that ‘Tabbouleh’ was interesting…it just kind of made itself…I had no conscious intention of making such a dish…it was yummy though :) I started by blending a little box of cherry tomatoes with a clove of garlic, a few sundried tomatoes, a pinch of Celtic sea salt and a dash of olive oil. Then I cut down a head of kale really really finely and left it to marinate overnight in the tomato/garlic mix. The next day I soaked some ‘sweet kelp’ seaweed pieces and later added them to the kale mixture. I made up a little bowl of one of my favourite things – hemp seeds mixed with flax oil and a pinch of Celtic seasalt. I then mixed that all in with the kale bowl too. The result was a bowl of tiny pieces of green, white and red yummmm…which I ate stuffed in nori sheets or atop fresh flax crackers. WOW, I ate vegetables again for the first time in weeks – I feel like such an ‘adult’ ;) I made my crackers by mixing together the pulp left over from juicing (mainly using the carrot pulp rather than the green bits), whole flax seed, soaked/sliced sundried tomatoes, plus their soak water, a pinch of Celtic seasalt and a little extra water to bind it all.

on November the 4th I had:

3 cups water
1 ‘Asian’ pear
1 quart celery/romaine/radish/carrot juice
bowl of durian blended with banana, cinnamon, ¼ vanilla pod, swirled with hemp seeds and raisins
2 cups water
2 persimmons
1 quart celery/romaine/ginger/radish/carrot juice
bowl of kale salad leftovers mixed in with one mushed avocado, stuffed in nori wraps
2 cups water

If you’d rather try some raw savouries that someone else has already made, I would highly HIGHLY recommend two of the products recently added to the snack section of our online store…the raw ‘no bean’ hummus mixes and flax crackers from ‘A Matter of Flax’ are some of my favourite raw pre-packaged goodies… ;) If you’ve had the pleasure to meet the owners of this business at expos and health fairs (like me), you’ll know what sweeeeet people Mike and his family are…shiny eyed, open-hearted and abundant with tasty raw products…the dry-mix hummus packs they make are a fantastic niche product. On November the 1st I had:

1 quart water
1 quart alfalfa/celeriac/radish/ginseng/spinach/romaine/carrot/parsley/dill juice
bowl of blended bananas/persimmons/hemp seeds swirled with cinnamon, goji berries and date pieces
2 cups water
tablespoon of ‘raw halva’ – hemp seed butter mixed with raw honey
2 cups peppermint tea
1 medium papaya
1 quart celery/romaine/sunchoke/broccoli sprouts/celeriac/parsley/carrot juice

The clocks go back here in Canada this weekend…in my world however, they actually went back last weekend…lol…yes, I’ve officially been in my own time zone this last week…the clock in my computer went back LAST Sunday…which is the day when the clocks USED to go back…after living in my own time zone for a couple of days and wondering why everything seemed a little ‘out-of-alignment’, I finally Googled the current time in this area only to learn that the US and Canada had voted sometime this year to change the end date of Daylight Savings to November the 4th instead…and apparently they forgot to tell my computer… ;) I wonder how many other people got monkeyed by that little change…??? Well, it at least led me into some interesting thoughts about the nature/‘reality’ of time and in the end I decided that I quite liked being in my own time zone and left it like that…I guess everyone else will sync in this weekend though… ;)

on November the 2nd I had:

1 quart water
2 persimmons
1 quart celery/broccoli sprouts/celeriac/sunchoke/ginseng/radish/carrot/apple/spinach/cilantro/dill juice
bowl of bananas blended with persimmons and cinnamon, swirled with ground almonds, goji berries, date pieces and ½ a fresh vanilla bean, ground – WOOOOOOW – vanilla beans are SO yummy…
2 cups water
1lb of longans
3 cups of parsley/sunchoke/alfalfa/romaine/apple/carrot/radish/cucumber juice
2 cups water
