Exhaling...

Hmmmmmm, the Rawkathon's over now... ;(
Did you enjoy it, if you listened in? I hope so...what an inspiring week of INPUT...I also kind of feel smthg like the 'exhale' today, after the massive 'inhale' all this week of wonderful info...thanks so much again to Kevin and Ann-Marie Gianni for sharing this creation with us...in recent days I have been re-inspired to FLOSS consistently (thanks, Jameth ;), keep up the algae intake (thanks, Rick ;) and to keep on loving, singing and smiling (thanks, Happy ;) The Monarch and I are actually doing a follow-up Q&A call with Kevin today (Oct 28th at 12 noon EST), which you can listen to HERE if you're signed up for the Rawkathon packages...if you miss the call when it's live, you can always listen back to it later ;)

Another thing that has been inspiring me this last week has been receiving all of your BEAUTIFUL messages containing your wishes for healing for yourselves and others, in response to the latest RawReform Giveaway...wow...thank you all for sharing such amazing messages of hope, heart and faith...we read every message sent in and have been jettisoning love back out to all your connections ;) If you have not yet sent in a message of healing and would love to do so, here are the details: just send in your A to the following Q:

"If you could lovingly heal any aspect of your life right now (or that of someone else), what would it be and why?"

One person picked at random from the entries will receive a a FREE copy of the inspiring 'Try it on Everything' DVD about the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), PLUS the Companion Book for the documentary.
Please send your answer to angela@rawreform.com. We will of course continue sending love and healing energy to all those mentioned in the messages and the winner of the DVD will be chosen at random and announced in the next RawReform newsletter.

I am falling in love with RE-BOUNDING again at the moment – SOOoOoOoOoo FUN :) I’m noticing that the nearer we get to winter-time and the colder it gets outside, the more I’m gravitating towards exercising inside...I LOVE being out in the fresh air here by the coast everyday too – I just notice that whereas a few months ago I would have enthusiastically been out in the hills/down by the ocean in the sun for hours at a time, now it’s more like a brisk walk, wrapped in many layers and the rebounder is taking over as the main exercise of choice for me ;)
We were SO blessed to pick this rebounder up at a car boot sale (like a big swap-meet/garage sale) recently for £5 (around $10) :O LOVE it :) Those of you who have been reading here for a while may recall that last year we picked up a Breville Juice Fountain at a similar sale for £1 ($2) – LOL – I LOVE these kind of gatherings for picking up bargains like these – I would SO recommend it...there nearly ALWAYS seems to be people selling juicers at these events – you know the kind of story: they bought it, used it a few times and it’s been in the kitchen cupboard ever since ;) Fine opportunity for a raw foodie to step in, pick up a bargain and re-distribute it to a home that will use it, perhaps ;) ...mostly they tend to be centrifugal juicers (like the Juice Fountain) at these sales (I’ve yet to see a twin gear or Norwalk, for example ;) – still, a juicer is a juicer, especially for someone getting started on a journey of improved health...
As for our yummy new rebounder – it was the same kind of story from the sweet young couple who sold us that – they bought it, used it a few times, then it sat in their garage for about a year (waiting for us ;) – it has since been in use every day since we got it... ;) I LOVE rebounding...I love how after I’ve been on there for a while, I start to notice how the slightest adjustment in the way I’m jumping/moving impacts my physique in a slightly different way – it’s SO subtle, yet feels so great, stretching this bit, moving that bit there, letting the oxygen edge just a little deeper into this tissue here and so on...YUMMY :)

One love, we love, our love, your love, all love,

Meditation and Cleansing...

Here’s a reader Q that came in recently from Sarah:

“I was just wondering if you could be more specific about how you handled the electricity moving through your body so that it could be a "whole body" experience. This has been my experience more than once, but I've experienced a particularly powerful and overwhelming case of this recently. You know, this is one of the reasons why I haven't become 100% raw--I feel much too ungrounded even at 80-90%. I'm seem to be okay at 60-70%, though. Any thoughts? In light, Sarah”

Thanks Sarah :) HMmmmmm, yes, meditation and deep breathing were my main avenues for transferring the impact of the energy into my third eye chakra into a more whole body experience. Here is something I wrote recently about the way that I meditate, which perhaps might resonate for you:

I go into meditation seated cross-legged, with my hands rested on my knees, palms upwards, ready to receive and thumb and first finger connected in the endless loop of being. I try to be seated either outside in nature or somewhere facing out of a window towards trees. I like to connect in with tree energy as I ground myself into the reality of each day. I feel deep reverence for the simple majesty of trees – how the larger ones in particular have been there for decades upon decades and seen so much come and go, yet remain still and quietly observing, peaceful, in the midst of it all. They help me to get perspective, especially if small details in my life seem to be dominating my thoughts and actions.
I close my eyes, breathe deeply and begin to connect in to the universal energy.
I start with my base chakra and work up through my whole energy system, connecting in to the bigger energy field through each of my portals, energising my whole being. As I focus on the root chakra, I see it connecting as long red roots, emerging from my body where I’m seated and going deep down into the earth, grounding me into the earth energy and re-affirming my presence here on Earth at this time, in physical form. Then I move up to the second chakra Chakras 2 to 6 I visualize all as flowing through me from front to back, in the lower abdomen, which is involved with creativity, sexuality and finances. I acknowledge the flow of energy there too – this time visualizing it as a constant swirling stream passing in through the front of my body and out through the back – open and orange in colour.ck in this way. Moving up, the third chakra, in the solar plexus – personal power, the image we have of ourselves and portray to the world – I visualize as a swirling yellow flow passing through me from front to back. This chakra is my biggest holding point and it often requires a little extra attention for me to feel real release and flow here. Then I move to the 4th chakra, in the area of the heart – the place of love, emotions, feelings, which I see as a beautiful green flowing light. The fifth chakra, in the throat, is associated with communication, embodiment and truth and this I see as a blue flow through my neck area. In the centre of my forehead is my 6th chakra, the ‘Third Eye’ – my connection to my intuition and guidance. This is my strongest point of contact with meditation. I see it as a flowing purple or white light through my forehead and generally receive the biggest single energy hits through this point. Lastly, the crown chakra – number seven – I see as a white or violet or golden light, reaching up and out through my crown, way up into the universe, like a many-petaled lotus opening and reaching out to the skies. This is my connection with the whole Universe and all oneness. I call the energy to flow into me from both the base and top of my system simultaneously – from the Earth and the Heavens in unison and as it merges in the middle of my body in the heart chakra, I visualize it bursting forth from my being in floods of green light and love, from both the front and back of my body, encircling my body and spreading out love to all. I call for the energy to fill my whole being with love, light and healing. I feel my ‘aura’ or ‘eighth chakra’ or whatever you like to call it – my whole energy field fill with light and love – it is white and strong and like a huge egg-shaped bubble of ‘protection’ around my being. Once I am tuned in like this, mostly during meditation I try to stay with my 6th chakra. I breathe deeply and feel so relaxed to connect in to the whole of oneness through this point. I feel the field of all the other inter-connected beings in this Universe – my brothers and sisters in this big game of life and beyond that, in the whole Universe. I connect in and give love and gratitude to all. I try to just be in that space as much as possible, though my mind inevitably wanders at times. I draw myself back in by taking a quick tour up through my charkas again, or focusing my attention back to my 6th chakra. The energy flows through my body in huge waves as I call it in and it feels wonderful. Sometimes it is so strong that parts of me shake from it – like my hands. It is not dissimilar to the sensation of being electrocuted, though much more pleasant. Sometimes if I am not feeling very strong physically, like during a fast, it can actually feel quite challenging for me to bring the energy in like this, as it is so huge and my structure feels too weak to support it at that moment. Then it’s best for me to ask for a toned-down version at that point. I’m never given more than I can truly handle. Sometimes I help myself regain focus in meditation by reminding myself how I am just a tiny piece of the Universe, a little spark of the life force, here to experience life in human form and that it’s all just a game. Ultimately everything is always alright and I can go ‘home’ to Spirit at any point, but right now, being this being and playing the game of being human is my current focus of attention. This helps to widen out my perspective and connect me in to the bigger picture a lot more, realising the details of my current existence are a tiny slither of the enormous greater picture that surrounds us. Another way I draw focus is to ask myself to be totally present in that moment – not in the past, thinking of things that happened yesterday and not in the future, wondering abt the day ahead, just right here and right now, sitting on this cushion, listening to those birds chattering outside, connecting to this whole Universe. That really helps me get into place. I see this part of my daily practice as the part where I am ‘listening’ to the universe and spirit, rather than talking and asking – I get myself as ‘blank’ as possible, as a conduit for the energy of the Universe to flow through me. Sometimes I am given key insights for the unfolding of the day or future ventures in those moments. Sometimes it is more just a clean flow of loving energy, filling my being with healing. I just try to be still and present, listening to any promptings of the Universe as I would listen to the talking of any friend sat with me – with an open perspective. I usually sit in meditation for around 15 minutes. Towards the end, I take another tour through my chakras, firing them up once more for the day ahead, filling my being with light, then I raise my hands in prayer position to touch my third eye chakra and acknowlege that all is love. My hands then lower to my lap, where I hold them palm-up in a receiving position and calling in my truth from the energy of the Universe, directly into my hands, I state in my head ‘I am filling up with my soul’s truth’. As I feel that energy move into my hands, I turn them over, releasing that power into the structure of my body. I repeat that three times. So ends my morning meditation.
Throughout the day, I take the space to reconnect to my chakra system in this way whenever I feel the need or whenever I remember. This is a really key process for me. Whenever I feel confused, ungrounded, jostled or out-of-place, I breathe deeply and connect in to my chakras, from the base up, filling my being with light and drawing energy and support from the Universe. If I am in a particularly challenging situation, or have been ‘out of contact’ for a number of hours, the energy rush I am given can feel enormous. I am always so appreciative of re-connecting like this and it renews my sense of wonder and stability in this world...

That was a pretty lengthy explanation - hope it helps ;)

on June the 10th I had:

1 quart water
mug pau d’arco tea
2 cups juice: spinach/celery/cucumber/sprouts/ginger/endive/carrot
2 cups delicious smoothie: macadamia butter, yacon powder, carob powder, maca, green powder, water
2 cups water
3 cups juice: parsley/cucumber/celery/endive
veggie/chia crackers with tahini, avo, sprouts. Salad of spinach, sprouts, dulse, mung bean sprouts, dressing of pumpkin seed butter/ACV/kelp powder/water
2 quarts water

on June the 11th I had:

1 quart water
mug of rooibus tea
3 cups juice: spinach/celery/cucumber/endive/cilantro
1.5 smoothie: macadamia butter, yacon powder, carob powder, maca, green powder, water
2 cups water
Salad of spinach, sprouts, dulse, mung bean sprouts, dressing of pumpkin seed butter/ACV/kelp powder/water, with raw crackers on side
1.5 cups juice: celery/cucumber/endive/cilantro/spinach
2 cups smoothie: soaked almonds, yacon powder, carob powder, maca, green powder, water
2 cups water

As you may have noticed, my food intake is a bit different suddenly than it has been of late ;) I’m doing a parasite cleanse and am currently off all overt sugars - fruit and dried fruits. It’s advisable to come off sugary things while taking in the strong ‘anti-parasite’ herbs, so that your internal environment doesn’t seem like such a cushy place to live anymore ;)
Being off sugars actually feels really easy-going so far – maybe because I’ve been eating so many yummy fruits lately that I’ve had my fill for a while ;) I’ve been wanting to do a parasite cleanse for many months and it kept not feeling right – now it feels like the right time and I started 4 days ago, on Tuesday. I am basically drinking green veggie juice 2x a day, eating one larger ‘salad’ meal in the middle of the day and one or two blended drinks each day too, with a nut/seed base and powders. It means I'm consuming lots of greens, sprouts, nuts/seeds etc. I am using a few low/no glycemic sweeteners like yacon powder, lucuma powder, carob powder, goji powder, which don’t seem sugary enough to mess up my balance ;) The herbs definitely seem powerful – I’ll be doing this for 3 weeks, so I’ll keep you updated with how it unfolds ;)
(BTW, someone wrote in recently asking what ‘ACV’ means in my food logs – it’s apple cider vinegar ;)

on June the 12th I had:

Raw Radiance...

Looking for smthg inspiring for the New Year? Well, here is an opportunity not to be overlooked…there’s a course coming up soon in Hawai’i that I would attend in a heartbeat if I was able to go there…it’s a RAW Permaculture Course. YUMM. This is one thing that's been on my personal goal list for years…If the term ‘Permaculture’ is unfamiliar to you, it is a union of the words ‘permanent’ and ‘agriculture’ and is based around creating SUSTAINABLE living systems – for our gardens, homes, communities and more…It is all about working WITH nature and mimicking natural ecosystems. The intention is to move away from reliance on industrial systems of production and distribution. Permaculture was developed HERE actually, in Australia back in the 70s, by David Holmgren and Bill Mollison, who’s still running courses now :) I have long wanted to do the full-length Permaculture Design Course and am SO excited to see people holding RAW versions of the course – this is (unfortunately) rare it seems – the only people I’ve known to hold RAW Permaculture courses so far are the lovely Steve Charter in the UK/Spain and now this team behind the upcoming courses on Hawai’i – the beautifully named ‘Living Mandala’. There are actually going to be two courses running back-to-back – firstly a 2-week Permaculture Design Course from February the 3rd-19th, then later a hands-in-the-dirt Practicum from Feb 24th-29th. Participants get to learn in a tropical paradise, share with other like-minded yumsters, receive certification for both courses AND eat luscious raw food the whole time (made by someone else – nice – PLUS – other food options available if you’re not up for full-on raw… ;)…sounds blissful…hope it all rocks on in 2009 too, so I can play as well…in the meantime, if this is tickling YOUR interest nodules, do check out their website here for more info: http://www.livingmandala.com

My psyllium-bentonite cleanse is still going grand. I’m at the end of day 5 as I write this…I've actually started to see some sections of the ‘black-tyre-rubber’ stuff come out of me. Nice. I've started using additives in the enema water like liquefied, strained garlic water or liquid bentonite. I LOVE the psyllium and bentonite products from the 7-Day Cleanse that I’m using. They’re the ones Bernard Jensen recommends in his book and they’re so quaint and old-fashioned looking ;) They also seem extremely high quality to me – I love that the psyllium is powdered – it seems to make it much more user-friendly to me than the full husk, which I’m used to using… I am brushing my teeth a LOT – about 8-10 times a day at the moment – there’s a lot of apple juice, honey, juices etc going in and I can’t bear the fuzzy-teeth feeling, so, much scrubbing is the answer ;) My energy today has been really great. I find that as long as I take time to rest after the morning enema sessions, I feel good for the rest of the day. I’m definitely at a much slower walking pace than normal though – I also stand up slowly after being seated for a while, as my blood pressure is pretty low right now… I also notice how sensitive I’m becoming to chemicals. We went to some shops a couple of days ago and one that had a lot of plastic items in it was almost unbearable for me – it felt SO toxic to breathe in there for me…I recall having similar experiences last year in Costa Rica on my Juice Feast and starting to consider just how far it might be beneficial in our modern world to keep on detoxing/ cleansing…there simply comes a point when being in a city full of pollution, for example, feels deadly, if you’re extremely ‘clean’. Those of you who’ve read Mr Monarch’s latest book – Raw Success – will know that he goes deep into these environmental factors in regards to our food/lifestyle choices…it’s a big area to consider...hmmmm... ;)

All blessings,

The answer is spinach...

Wishing you all a Happy, Healthy Halloween as I write this tonight…my friend here told me this evening that the average child in this neighbourhood likely collects around two supermarket bags full of ‘candy’ while trick-or-treating… :O :O :O …I’m astounded…and I certainly hope the tooth fairies of grace are working their magic tonight ;)
Raw Pumpkin Pie recipes seem to be abounding at this time of year - yummmmm - here's one over on the Raw Seattle site that looks good...

On October the 30th I had:

2.5 cups water
1.5 cups warm water with lemon juice
3.5 cups cucumber/spinach/romaine/broccoli sprouts/radish/sunchoke/carrot juice
bowl of chia seeds soaked in blended banana/persimmons, swirled with maca, cinnamon, goji berries and pumpkin seeds
2 cups water
bowl of durian blended with bananas, swirled with maca, cinnamon and goji berries
1.5 quarts water

If you haven’t yet seen this amusing ‘mainstream’ spin on the damages of plastic food and prescription drugs, from Bill Maher, I’d recommend it – it’s nice to see this message penetrating a little deeper into society daily... ;) According to Bill, ‘The answer is spinach’. Nice… ;) Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHXXTCc-IVg

on October the 31st I had:

2 cups water
1.5 cups warm water with lemon
1.2 quarts alfalfa/ginseng/sunchoke/celeriac/radish/cucumber/spinach/red lettuce/carrot/cilantro juice (PHEEEEEEEW – intense stuff ;)
bowl of durian blended with banana, mesquite powder and cinnamon and swirled with goji berries and diced dates
1 quart water
½ lb longans
2 persimmons
1 quart celeriac/parsley/celery/carrot/radish/ginseng/romaine juice

Island Days...

Ok, we’re in Victoria now, on Vancouver Island…we came here on Saturday and we’ve been absolutely loving it here ;) We gave a presentation at a wellness centre on Saturday evening, to a lovely crowd and then have been exploring the area the last few days. Things I appreciate so far:

1. We have been gifted a fabulous little cottage to stay in during our time here, from a yummy reader of this e-journal. WOW…SUCH a gorgeous little retreat space – all raw kitchen equipment we could want, a compost, rebounder, trays of fresh sprouts and wheatgrass waiting for us, Spiritual Cinema DVD collection, wonderful books, right next to the ocean…amazing…we feel so blessed…
2. Everyone here seems SO friendly and happy and smiley and sweet ;) The scenery is stunning too and I LOVE being back by the sea…
3. The CLOTHES shops are simply outstanding for me, in terms of the selection of ‘eco-friendly’ fabrics available. I’ve never seen such a huge array of organic cotton, hemp, bamboo clothes and more in one place – especially such a ‘little’ place, in terms of physical size…it’s wonderful…
4. There are GREAT longans available in Chinatown and Victoria even has a restaurant that serves raw food – called Mo:le. There are also quite a few juice bars around – like in Green Cuisine…
5. We were also invited to use an infra-red sauna yesterday at the house of one of the lovely women who attended our talk on Saturday. She healed from breast cancer with the raw lifestyle and now helps others on this path. We had a great sauna, then I promptly threw up twice after it. Hmmmm…I think the combination of intense sauna, lots of wheatgrass, niacin and excitement was a bit too much for me ;) It felt very odd to vomit – it’s SO long since I last did…and I was a bit wobbly for a couple of hours. I just rested though and then was fine…

We’ve received requests and invites to come back here next year too and play some more – either talks or maybe a retreat or…who knows…? ;) We’d love to come back, so…let’s stay tuned to see what unfolds…

On October the 21st I had:

1 quart water
double shot of wheatgrass juice

Ok, a little ‘public service announcement’ again…I am extremely relieved and grateful to say that the RawReform email is now fully working again. The whole system was down for a week – eeeeeeeeek – I am so very sorry…I know many of you were getting bouncebacks…well, now it’s all back up again, so you can email rawreform@rawreform.com freely – hurray :) Thanks for your patience…

on October the 22nd I had:

1 quart water
double shot of wheatgrass juice
3 cups melon/apple juice
1lb longans
1 pint parsley/spinach/celery/carrot/lemon juice
2 persimmons, more longans and a few mulberries
double shot of wheatgrass
1 quart water
1 pint water
3 cups celery/spinach/parsley/carrot juice
bowl of blended apples mixed with ground flax/almonds and swirled with mulberries – yummmmmm
3 cups water

Mr Monarch’s new book, Raw Success is OUT NOW :) I’m so happy for him…and he’s very excited, as feedback starts to come in from those who are already reading it…it was launched at the Raw Spirit Fest last weekend and sold around 500 copies in the first week…we’re excited that this information is getting out there…it contains info about ‘The Blood Gas Theory’ (among other things) – which is something Dr. Fred Bisci ‘handed down’ to Matt and seems to be rarely spoken of/understood in raw food circles, yet is KEY for understanding how detox works – which is essentially what being raw is all about for most modern humans – we have decades and decades of waste to release…you can see the book and order your copy HERE... ENJOY and do email him and let him know your thoughts if you read it…
