Pili Nut Love + Free "B12 Exposed" Webinar :)

As you may have seen in Mr. Monarch's videos and newsletters, we are really enamoured at the moment with a new raw nut that just came to our attention: the Polynesian Pili Nut :) Now, this is not a "new" nut in the sense that someone just "invented" it through hybridisation - these amazing little morsels have apparently been around all along, we just didn't know abt them, as the trees are rather rare...(which leads me to wonder how many other edible nuts and even seeds there may be out there that we don't know much abt yet...)

So, these Pili Nuts are *AMAZINGLY* soft, sweet-ish, delicious and fun to experiment with...they apparently have the highest oil content of any nut, which results in suuuuper-smooooooth smoothies, elixirs and ice creams made with these nuts, plus the stone-ground nut butter we've been personally producing with these nuts is *ridiculously* good - it looks, feels and even somewhat tastes like CHOCOLATE ;O

screen shot 2011-05-22 at 11.10.29 am.pngWe're definitely in love with this new find...see the videos below for more info and you can order your own Pili Nuts at our store HERE - due to the limited supply of these little joy-morsels, we actually have an exclusive on selling them - you won't find them anywhere else - enjoy :)

I'd like to comment that my perspective on languages took on a radical shift recently. As some of you possibly know, my degree is in Linguistics - I have studied language a lot in my life and very much resonated with the idea that it is a "tragedy" when languages die out. While I still think that individual languages are fascinating and am enthralled with the possible different perspectives they can help us to perceive, my outlook on the *overall value* of having different languages was totally flipped recently when I heard an old African healer speaking on the idea that we are more divided by different languages than we are united - that all of these different languages we encounter worldwide could be considered another thread in a possible "divide and control" model, rather than something to be revered and treasured...an interesting perspective...as I said, I still find our multiple human languages fascinating - and I also really appreciated thinking about this alternative perspective... I also note that as I progress now on the path of learning more and more Spanish, I find that my attitude towards this task is subtley different than before this revelation - now it feels somehow more like "cracking a code" and less intimidating - I'm simply seeking to learn the Spanish equivalents for how I would say something in English, rather than feeling potentially overwhelmed by the possiblity of learning a whole new language and way of perceiving the world...it's a subtle difference, yet learning this next language feels like a simpler task in many ways now and I'm grateful for that too... ;)

Raw Food Christmas Songs ;)

Ding dong merrily on high... :)

OoOoooooo, yes, it's that time of year again when the Christmas/Holiday tunes are blasting from all directions...personally I love a bit of carol-ing...I thought it might be fun here to share five of my favourite Christmas-time toooooons online...the first two are the Christmas songs I personally put up on YouTube the last two years - these are raw food versions of well-known yuletide songs...then there are three videos of people singing beautiful and inspiring renditions of traditional X-mas songs - ENJOY :)

"Do They Know About Raw Food?" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5rtPZ9dEz8

"The 12 Raw Days Of Christmas" -

Allison Crowe (one of my *favourite* singers - check her out ;) - "The First Noel" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neWPmsn2E4w

Celtic Women - "O Come All Ye Faithful" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eLDvM7eSq0

"Hallelujah" performed by The Opera Company of Philadelphia, in Macy's ;) LOVE it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp_RHnQ-jgU

On December the 15th it was a travelling day for me and I enjoyed:

1 quart water

bowl of papaya/mango/red banana with coconut yoghurt, ashwagandha, astragalus, maca, stevia, carob
handful of spiurlina coconut chips

1 cup water

As you may notice in these food logs, I often share a 'cucumber salad' meal with Mr. M these days...perhaps 3 or so days a week...recently some of you have been asking what is IN this salad? Mr. M actually did a video a while back showing how to make this meal - some of you may have missed that though, so HERE is the link again on YouTube to check it out - it is *super*-simple: basically grated cucumber, dulse seaweed and avocado...I also like to add some sauerkraut to mine - Mr. M isn't so into the kraut though ;) ...and in case you also missed the video where we showed how to make the meal with papaya/coconut yoghurt/carob etc that I tend to eat daily at the moment, that video is HERE - enjoy ;)
