Many of you know that I am a huge Iceland-ophile - I *love* Iceland, the land, the people, the nature, the language...all of it...I lived there on and off for 3.5 years and part of my heart feels forever planted there amongst the geysirs, volcanoes and kooky knitted fashions... ;)
I even speak Icelandic to all of our animals here to keep the language alive in my reality... Well, I was THRILLED to recently discover a new site through which you can stream Icelandic films (with English subtitles) - many for free :) I love it and have been vicariously re-soaking up the Icelandic culture the last few days through this online stream :) If you'd love to check it out, just hop on over to http://www.icelandiccinema.com to access the goodies :)

FYI, here are some of my other top Icelandic loves to explore, if you are drawn:

*Solla - of course ;) Our dearest shiniest raw Icelandic superstar si*star* - check her out online HERE :)
*Sigur Ros/Jonsi and Alex - some of the most beautiful musically-inclined creatures in the world - dive into their mesmerising soundscapes HERE.
*Hjaltalín - "þú komst við hjartað í mér" - I've been quite obsessed with this song since I first heard it a few months back...check it out HERE...
*Lay Low - another musical wonder from the distant isle - I love THIS song especially...
*Bjork, of course :) One of my first Icelandic loves and still occupies a huge part of my musical heart-realm :)
*Icelandic Sagas online - I've wanted to read the ancient, famous Icelandic Sagas for a long time and never quite found the impulse to do so - I was thrilled to find an online site where one Icelandic gal is reading the sagas aloud :) It's a free and fairly slow-moving project, there's quite a few chapters to listen to already though - check it all out at http://sagaproject.wordpress.com :)
*Iceland Review Online - if you'd love to receive daily news from Iceland by email, this is your site to explore :) I've been getting their updates for years now and often delight in the quirky, sweet news stories ;)

ENJOY :)))

All love,

Make Your Own Stone-Ground Nut and Seed Butters :)))

In case you didn't yet hear about the AMAZING new stone-grinding machines we now have for making your OWN nut and seed butters, it shall be my delight to share some juicy details with you today about these new contraptions...

As many of you have noticed and commented on, in my daily food logs of the last few weeks, I've been mentioning eating some of our amazing home-made, fresh, smoooooooth nut butters...these butters are off-the-hooooooooooooooook ;)
Mr. M is a nut/seed butter FANATIC and for years has been wondering how to best make his OWN butters, rather than paying $20+ per jar for other peoples' products - he'd tried everything, using a food processor, pestle and mortar, Green Star juicer, blenders...you name it...never with very impressive results...until NOW :)))
A dear friend of ours let us know about a special stone-grinding machine for crunching down and smoooooothing out nuts and seeds into the most incredible, smooooooth, delicious, pourable nut and seed butters that you would have surely ever experienced...
We've been playing with all kinds of nut/seed versions the last few weeks and every trial has resulted in some kind of rich liquid luciousness...these machines can also be used to produce your own *exquisitely* smooooth and professional raw chocolates or similar confections - I actually JUST made my first batch of raw "chocolate" (with carob powder rather than cacao) in one of these stone-grinding machines last night - it is *RIDICULOUSLY* good...I'll aim to demo this on a video some day soon... for now, if you click over HERE you can see a video that we already did showing how to use this epic new piece of machinery...
Imagine, instead of paying $20+ per jar for almond butter or tahini, from now on you can use a machine like this to make your OWN nut and seed butters, of the highest, smoothest, silkiest quality you've ever experienced, for just the cost of the nuts/seeds themselves, plus the initial investment for the machine of course. As one customer commented, "this machine will have paid for itself in about 16 jars of almond butter" - WOW ;O
This stone-grinder is set to become *the* new "must-have" appliance for raw foodies everywhere and we're so excited to be able to share this with you - it is SOOOOO much fun to experiment with all your own mixtures - enjoy the process :)

Check out a video on the stone-grinding machines and get your own machine to play with HERE :)

Pili Nut Love + Free "B12 Exposed" Webinar :)

As you may have seen in Mr. Monarch's videos and newsletters, we are really enamoured at the moment with a new raw nut that just came to our attention: the Polynesian Pili Nut :) Now, this is not a "new" nut in the sense that someone just "invented" it through hybridisation - these amazing little morsels have apparently been around all along, we just didn't know abt them, as the trees are rather rare...(which leads me to wonder how many other edible nuts and even seeds there may be out there that we don't know much abt yet...)

So, these Pili Nuts are *AMAZINGLY* soft, sweet-ish, delicious and fun to experiment with...they apparently have the highest oil content of any nut, which results in suuuuper-smooooooth smoothies, elixirs and ice creams made with these nuts, plus the stone-ground nut butter we've been personally producing with these nuts is *ridiculously* good - it looks, feels and even somewhat tastes like CHOCOLATE ;O

screen shot 2011-05-22 at 11.10.29 am.pngWe're definitely in love with this new find...see the videos below for more info and you can order your own Pili Nuts at our store HERE - due to the limited supply of these little joy-morsels, we actually have an exclusive on selling them - you won't find them anywhere else - enjoy :)
