Celebrating Four Years of Blogging :)

Four years ago today, I first started writing this blog... ;O I didn't realise it was so long ago already that I began...here was my first ever blog post, in case you weren't around here at that time ;)

I had freshly arrived to Costa Rica and was about to embark the very next day on my epic 92-Day Juice Feast experience...if you want to check out more of my old blog posts from that era, just click the link HERE for that first post and on the right side of the page, if you scroll way down the page, you'll find the Archives for this blog, divided into years and months - you can click through the various posts there if you like... ;)
I want to send love and gratitude to all of you who have been readers and supporters of this blogging journey over these last four years...blogging has always felt to me rather like writing an email to lots of people at once and I appreciate this medium as a way to connect in an up-to-date and more personal manner with whoever chooses to tune in...thanks for being part of this journey ;)

On November the 17th I appreciated:

If you're into seeing mysterious ancient artifacts and possibly re-considering the history of human-kind, you might enjoy this link to a video with an Austrian artifacts researcher names Klaus Dona...this video link, which one reader sent to me recently, shares images of various fascinating ancient objects that have been discovered, many of them from one particular cave here in Ecuador - some amazing old maps, pyramids, masks, tools and more...check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmMwo1Xzgus and see what you feel... ;)

Win Wildcrafted Superfood Seeds :)

In case you didn't see the latest RawReform Newsletter over HERE, here's a recap of some of the info shared this week:

Many of you probably know already of Anthony Anderson, the "Raw Model" - did you know though that he just recently launched a line of Wildharvested Superfood Seeds to grow your very own superfoods at home for pennies...? :)

I LOVE this idea and product line...as you may know, Anthony has been nurturing his own permaculture kins domain/space of love in Minnesota for the last few years - you can check out videos of his place online...and over the years, Anthony came to the conclusion, just like us, that it seems to make a lot more sense to help grow and support wildharvested, sturdy plants, herbs and 'weeds', than to try to protect weaker domesticated plants that struggle with bugs, soil conditions, water access and many other factors. Dandelions for example are one of the BEST cleansers for our livers/blood...and they are super-resilient, popping up all over the place by themselves...compared to nurturing a romaine lettuce that ultimately has a lot less to offer medicinally, I know which we'd prefer to give garden space ;)

SO, Mr. Anderson, in his wisdom, went about collecting wild seeds for 13 different varieties of plant, focusing especially on perennials and packaging them up in super*sweet* little tins, for others to obtain and start growing in their own vicinities...LOVE it...these seeds are TROOPERS - just get them into soil and these guys will provide you with bountiful crops with very little further attention - they do not need baby-ing or protecting - they are STRONG and will bring your body valuable nourishment too - how fabulous :) I LOVE this project :))) Check out this video below with Anthony, explaining more about these new seeds:

On November the 7th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
water of a young coconut
6 granadilla
bowl of papaya with coconut yoghurt, carob powder, maca, stevia and ashwaganda :)
water of a young coconut
3 ice cream bean fruits
mug of horchata tea
2 cups greeeeeen smoothie: papaya, avocado, garden greeeens
1 cup water

There are currently 13 individual little packs of superfood seeds available, PLUS a gorgeous presentation box of all thirteen in a wooden case, plus two 3-packs focused on immunity and wild salads. Here are the items available:

  • Astragalus

  • Burdock

  • Calendula

  • Dandelion

  • Goji

  • Holy Basil

  • Lamb's Quarters

  • Maca

  • Nettle

  • Sage

  • Spinach

  • Stevia

  • Tomato

  • Wild Mixed Salad [3-pack]

  • Immunity Boost [3-pack]

  • Superfood Seed Presentation Box [13-pack]

  • I feel that these seeds represent such an AMAZING investment in your health for such a small financial outlay - at just $3.50 per tin, these seeds are an absolute BARGAIN ;O For example, the contents of the Goji Berry tin could provide you with over 1000 GOJI BERRY bushes ;O That's incredible - you could literally create a Goji Berry FOREST with this little tin - lol ;)
I feel these kits would make fantastic gifts and projects for homeschooling/unschooling families too...even if it's cold where you are right now, you can start growing things inside...

To get your mittens on some of these wonderful wildharvested seed packs, click HERE...and we'll be sending immeasurable gratitude and love to Mr. Raw Model and co. for these *FABULOUS* seed packs - these are definitely the best new products we've seen in a while :)))

    Back in The USA ;)

I write this to you from Atlanta airport - we are BACK in the US of A ;) After an epic-ly complex journey here so far, we now await the final leg of our adventure back to California in a few hours (having just missed a connecting flight...) It feels rather odd to be back...people here seem very tall...and talkative ;)
All being well, we'll be back in California later today...and in the coming couple of months we'll be off on tour again - here are the current details that we have for our upcoming talks - for some events, we don't have many details yet, so please keep an eye on our events page HERE for updates ;)

We look forward to seeing y'all at one of these events soon if you're able to join us...

2 cups greeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
2 cups greeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
    ½ a large papaya
    water of a young coconut
shared cucumber salad meal with Mr. M, followed by a couple of slices of dried pineapple and a mug of horchata tea with stevia to sweeten
    1 cup water
    water of two young coconuts

on August the 5th I appreeeeeeeeeeciated:

    1 quart water
    a small papaya
    2 tbsp bee pollen
    water of a young coconut
    a dragon fruit, a papaya
impromptu hotel-room-floor-picnic with Mr. M involving cucumber, avocado, dulse, nori sheets, flax crackers and dried incan berries
    water of two young coconuts
    1 cup water

On a different note, if you've been reading here for a while, you might recall that some months back, I mentioned an exciting opportunity to receive free biodynamic cherry tomato seeds...I believe that more than 250 of you, worldwide, took up this offer - amazing to think of all the raw foodies worldwide who might right now be chomping into fruits from the same tomato family ;)
Well, I am pleased to say that in case you missed that last round of seed-sharing, or if you'd love to get some MORE of these very special seeds, then you're in luck ;) You can once again get your own packet of free biodynamic cherry tomato seeds, to either grow inside if you're somewhere cold, or outside if your climate permits...all of the details are on this site HERE - enjoy ;)

another lovely picnic in the park with more friends, near Otavalo: avocado, flax crackers, dulse, coconut chips and dried pineapple
    3 cups water

...and on the subject of seeeeeeeeds, quite a few of you have been writing in recently to ask where to get quality seeds in the USA...well, I really like the service from Peaceful Valley at www.GrowOrganic.com - they're based in Grass Valley, California and have a GREAT selection of seeds, really clear instructions on the packets and they also give away free packets of seeds with every order :) ...you might also love to check out the store at www.pathtofreedom.com - this is the "Urban Homestead" family based in Pasadena, CA, whom I have mentioned many times before...and Anthony at www.RawModel.com also has LOTS of great info on where to buy seeds and baby trees in the US... I would of course also thoroughly recommend finding local seed swap meetings in your area to attend, plus connecting with any organic/biodynamic/permaculture-orientated farmers/gardeners in your vicinity who might be open to sharing seeds too - enjoy :)

    All love and divine grounding,

There’s a book review I’ve been wanting to write here for a few weeks and it has felt challenging for me to get the words down that I want to use, to express how I feel about this piece of work. I think I’m ready now ;)
Evie’s Kitchen’ is UK raw food diva Shazzie’s latest book and it is all about raising healthy, happy children. This book had a huge impact on me, smthg akin to the effect I felt when I started to read the ‘Anastasia’ books. Once I started reading, I just didn’t want to stop, it felt like such a magical piece of writing to dive into, so rich, sincere, flowing with love, fascinating insights and inspirations.
The ‘heroine’ of the book, Evie, is Shazzie’s gorgeous little daughter, who is now four and a half. In this book, Shazzie shares from her heart about how their journey together so far has unfolded, along with masses of interesting info on natural parenting. Shazzie covers pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, co–sleeping, baby carrying, vaccines, natural healthcare and lots more. She writes with the abundant love and care of a mother, especially offering unparalleled attention to detail about all the nutritional needs of a growing little one – Vitamin D, B12 issues, protein, minerals – she covers it all. I also loved the section where Shazzie reveals what is in her ‘medicine chest’ and explains how she makes use of products like MSM, colloidal silver, vitamin C and so on as natural ‘medicines’ for friends and family. In one section, Shazzie shares the story of Evie’s first few years here – pre–womb, in the womb and outside and I found this a very moving tale to follow, truly shared from the heart.
The latter part of the book contains over 180 raw food recipes all designed with children in mind. These are the things Evie has been eating since she got here (other than breastmilk ;)... The recipes are conveniently divided up into ages, e.g. things to start offering from 6 months, from 1 year etc...
The luscious full–colour vibrant photos make this book an absolute visual TREAT – the recipes all look amazing and most of them of course have very simple ingredients, as they were formulated with children in mind – yummmmm :)
I absolutely LOVE this book. I feel like it will be my closest handbook as and when we start to bring children into this world and I’ll refer back to it very often. I actually feel compelled these days to send this book to raw women I know who are pregnant, or people who are raising children and could use a bit more vibrancy on their plates ;) There is just SO much amazing info in here that I feel it’s essential reading for anyone wanting to raise healthy little ones...
One little suggestion for anyone in the US especially – the measurements in this book are in the metric system, not cups/teaspoons etc. SO, our best suggestion for you if you’d like to use the recipes in this book is to get hold of a simple little set of measuring scales for your kitchen (if you don’t already have some), so that you can measure out the ingredients.
As far as I know, we are the only people currently selling this book in N. America and we’re very happy to have it on offer...it is a true raw GEM :) You can see more about the book and purchase copies HERE. We've already gone through boxes of this book since it was released, it is very well loved :)
I truly hope you fall in love with this book too and appreciate it as much as I do. Thank you so much Shazzie for sharing this work of love :)

    All love,

HERE’s a fabulous link for you if you’d like to dehydrate some foods, don’t have a dehydrator, yet DO have some pieces of wood, screws and some light bulbs (plus maybe someone ‘handy’ to fit the pieces of the puzzle together ;) I came across this webpage many years ago now, way back at the start of my raw food journey and was excited to see it’s still up now – enjoy ;) ...and thanks to ‘Kath’ for sharing this on her site...

Back in the Southern Hemisphere, myself and the Monarch have quite a few speaking engagements resonating their way through our life tracks the next few weeks...Next Friday, the 4th, we shall present our tales of transformation and joy in sunny Christchurch...Sunday the 13th of April will see us oiling the raw food fascination nodules of minds in Golden Bay...April the 19th will be Wellington’s turn to get juicy and then we finish up in Melbourne on April the 26th with a finale of...exploding eggplants and corn confetti (perhaps...I wouldn’t get your expectations up about that though... ;)
You can see all the left-brain pleasing details of those events HERE... and we hope to see you THERE if you are NEAR :)
