2009 in Raw-view ;)

WELL...what a year 2009 has been for us...I’ve been thinking back over the last 12 months with a mixture of joy and amusement the last couple of days... ;)
We started the year in Mexico, launching the LiveLightly Plan and rescuing two dogs, from whom we contracted canine scabies...hmmmmm... I went back to the UK to do USA Immigration interviews, heal from scabies and finish writing “Raw Emotions”. After 2 months or so of self-imposed “quarantine” to help heal afore-mentioned scabies and finish afore-mentioned book, I emerged joyfully in the spring with a scabies-free body, a completed book and a fiance visa for the US, after nearly 2 years in the immigration system – YAY :) Swiftly exited left, to Ecuador, to meet future husband and our land in Vilcabamba for the first time – LOVED it all so very much.
Back to the USA after 10 days and almost immediately straight into raw food talk tour which pretty much ran from April to November this year, allll over the US, with little breaks here and there. Also, finding ourselves under obligation to marry within 90 days of me entering the US, as a condition of my visa, we set about formulating wedding plans immediately too, for the Raw Union Festival ;)

Raw Emotions arrived in printed form, my first printed book – VERY exciting...and onwards we travelled, far and wide all over the US, doing talks, festivals and interviews until June, wedding time for Mr. M and I, in Oregon. Enjoyed a spectacular love-fest of a wedding at the Raw Union festival, on organic farm with 400+ people in attendance and Dr. Wolfe as our minister ;) Morphed into the “Stokes-Monarch”...

On December the 27th I was blissed with:

1 quart water
1 cup greeeen juice
1 cup reishi tea
shot of wheatgrass juice
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
2 tbsp coconut oil with 40 chlorella ‘nuts’
1 quart water
2 cups greeeeeen juice
1 tbsp bee pollen
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
2 cups water

The rest of the summer seems a blur in my memory of travel, talks, events, boxes, books, people, conversations, in and out of hotels, motels, people’s houses, talk venues and so on...we probably did 100+ talks in around 30+ states this year...we also started the monthly Raw Food World Radio Show in the summer…
We finished our talk tour on November the 22nd and the very next day, on November the 23rd, our car was ‘totalled’ in a pretty intense car accident in Pennsylvania ;O Immediately started 7-day Juice Feast to help expedite healing from shock, cuts, bruises, whiplash, aches etc... As I was due back in California very soon afterwards for my NEXT Immigration interview, we welcomed a second hand jeep into our lives and jiggled gratefully back to CA for interview, only to be thwarted by the question “what colour is the carpet at your mum’s house?” lol ;) Case put on hold for ‘next 6 months’...ho-hummmm...thankfully the interviewer seemed to have a change of heart in the following week and I got a letter shortly afterwards announcing that I am now welcome in the US, as a “permanent resident” – yeeeeeee-HAH ;)

December saw us help our warehouse staff in Ojai expand the premises to three times the size and I also pieced together the free “Profoundly Raw” ebook as a Christmas gift to all...
Then we dallied off to Arizona, where we currently find ourselves resting ooohhhhhhh soooooooo gratefully and joyfully in the kind embrace of The Tree of Life centre, Juice Feasting, parasite cleansing, getting body work and mainly just RELAXING ;)
It’s felt like an amaaaazing journey this year – thank you SO much to all of you who have been a part of this flow in some way – those who came to talks, watched the TV show, listened to the radio show, read this blog, sent in messages, sent healng and love after our car accident, came to our wedding and so on – however you connected, thank you :)
I am really excited for 2010 and send you all the very best wishes for an expansive year of joy, love and wonder too – enjoy :)

on December the 28th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
shot of wheatgrass juice
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
1 cup green juice
1.5 cups DELICIOUS coconut kefir :)))
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
2 tbsp coconut oil with 40 chlorella tablets
3 cups water
samples of spirulina crunchies and new bee pollen – yummm ;)
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
3 tbsp bee pollen with probiotics
2 cups greeeeen juice from The Tree of Life Café
2 cups water

So, we’re on day 14 of our current intended 30-Day Green Juice Feast here at the Tree of Life in AZ and all is flowing AMAZINGLY well... :)

Alongside this juicy flow, I’m excited to say that on January the 7th, we’re going to be connecting with the lovely David and Katrina Rainoshek of JuiceFeasting.com, for an interview on TheRawFoodWorld TV Show via Skype, alllll about Juice Feasting...and YOU get to ask all the questions... ;)
So, if you have any juicy questions you’d love to have answered by the king and queen of JF-ing, just email those Qs in to angela@rawreform.com by Jan 6th and we’ll aim to get them all answered on Jan 7th with the Rainosheks – FUN :)

All love,
Ms. Stokes-Monarch. xxx

Our Raw Food Wedding - Raw Union :)

WOW :O
What an absolutely PHENOMENAL weekend we just shared with the raw family here in Oregon :) I am delighted to say that I am now officially Ms. Stokes–Monarch :)
We enjoyed the most divinely flowing, serendipitous, loving marriage ceremony and party yesterday with hundreds of gathered loved ones, in glorious sunshine with truly ext–raw–dinary food, outstanding music and abundant love flowing in all directions :) We are feeling so extremely blessed, loved up and grateful now, as we settle into the terms 'husband' and 'wife', hand out leftovers, tidy through the site and anticipate the joy of seeing photos and footage of the event, as they appear ;)
For now, I don't have so many pictures to share with you, as I wasn't really taking photos much myself this weekend ;) I have a couple to show you here though for now – hopefully many more to come as things settle more...

There are also a few people I would love to send personal shouts out to for their sharing here (aside from my dearest Mr. Monarch of course, who was the original instigator of this whole event ;)
I would love to send huge love, gratitude and blessings to:

Laura Fox – the festival would simply not have existed without Laura – she is truly the ultimate raw festival goddess and we LOVE her :)

Solla – the Icelandic Kitchen Goddess delivered the most diviiiine raw wedding feast imaginable and with unparalleled love, joy and dedication – the kitchen crew were totally inspired by her glowing spirit and the crowd LOVED her creations – we LOVE Solla :)

Chaya – this gorgeous cake queen stepped in at the last minute to create the finest wedding cake we have ever seen, when we heard the Boutenkos were no longer able to deliver us cake. I hope to have cake photos to show you soon...Chaya's spirit and creations are like nothing else out there – absolutely stunningly BEAUTIFUL – we LOVE Chaya :)

Annie Jubb and Michelle Sabathne – these two wonderful goddesses held the space for the women's pre–wedding goddess gathering – what a tremendous send–off into wedded blissful union with my beloved – thank you beautiful spirits – we LOVE you both :)

David Wolfe – we were so delighted to have the multi–talented, glowing chocolate bishop officiate our nuptials with his passion, clarity and joy – it was, of course, the best wedding ever, by far... ;) We LOVE Dr. Wolfe.

Rainbeau Mars – ahhhh, sweet sister Rainbeau was in attendance to share yoga, meditation and her beautiful spirit...what a blessing – we LOVE Rainbeau :)

Moon and Nature – LOL – I am so in AWE of these incredible conduits for universal energy and flow...these freestyling MCs open their mouths and love just flows out at an awe–inspiring rate of words per minute...SO much love for these guys :)

La Soprana
– WOW – we were SO awesomely blessed to have opera singer Michelle singing during our ceremony... :O I literally felt like I was being electrocuted with energy flow after we were pronounced 'husband and wife' and Michelle broke out into 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain' – THANK YOU Michelle, we LOVE you :)

Ken and Peggy – the gracious owners of the gorgeous Angel's Farm where the event was held. Thanks be to this loving pair for their generosity, open–ness, loving spirits and dedication – we LOVE Ken and Peggy :)

The Musicians – the musical talent present here this weekend was truly off the hook...praise be to all the gathered lovelies who were sharing their musical flow – especially the wonderful Max Waker who accompanied me on guitar on Sunday morning for a half hour set of some of my favourite songs (hopefully we'll have a video of that up soon too at TheRawFoodWorld.TV ;) – we LOVE the musicians :)

What does it mean to be a 'Mrs'...?

OOOoooo, a week from today we’ll be celebrating at the Raw Union festie in S. Oregon and getting the final preparations in place for our wedding on the 21st– yeeeeeeeee–HAH ;)
Will you be there to join us? Don’t forget to send in your contribution for the Raw Union Time Capsule if you’re not going to be there in person ;) You can send things to:

Raw Union Festival - Time Capsule Contribution
c/o Angel’s Organic Farm
9394 Blackwell Rd.
Central Point, OR 97502

We’ve just heard that Justin and Heidi from RawFoodRightNow.com will be joining us at the festie to renew their wedding vows and celebrate 5 years on a raw path together – nice :) See HERE for their blog post about the festie.
Don’t forget to check out the Raw Union community rideshare board too, if you’d love to find someone to share the journey with – you can see that HERE.

on June the 10th I had:

1 quart water
shot of wheatgrass
2 cups greeeeen juice
25 chlorella ‘nuts’

3 cups water
delicious pre–wedding trial feast of some of the buffet dishes and desserts (secrets for now – lol, sorry - Solla is working her magic ;)
mug of spicy tea
3 cups water

Soooo, it seems I have one week left of being a ‘Miss’...before I become a Stokes–Monarch... I’m not sure yet if I’ll step into the title of ‘Mrs’ – that somehow feels a bit distant and ‘real’ to me – like I might have to start wearing a pinafore or smthg if I take that name ;) ...I suspect I may become a ‘Ms’ instead...and maybe someday I’ll gain an extra ‘r’...we’ll see...it feels rather odd as well to think that in a week’s time someone is going to be referring to me as ‘my wife’...I haven’t had that title yet in this lifetime and it seems very unfamiliar...I think that’s going to take a while to get used to ;)
As I mentioned before, I didn’t anticipate marrying at all when I was growing up, so this is all rather peculiar territory to me – Mr. M and I are both very excited about the upcoming festie celebrations though and co–creating a witnessed heart–space in community, within which to clarify our commitments and intentions with each other. We’re also feeling incredibly blessed to have had the marvellous Laura Fox heading up the organisation of this whole event – she is such a pro and has pulled everything together into a vibrant, exciting festie for all to enjoy – thanks so much Laura :)
We look forward to connecting with y’all at Raw Union next weekend, if you can be there in person – you can get your tickets at RawUnion.com if you don’t already have them...

on June the 11th I had:

1 quart water
2 cups greeeeeeeen juice
3 cups Greener Grasses with coconut water
30 chlorella nuts
2 cups water
a curry powerwrap and a couple of chunks of freeze–dried durian
2 cups water
shared raw meal at Au Lac: garlic bread, De La Mamma broccoli dish, donut holes, choco–nut ecstasy pie
1 quart water

on June the 12th I had:

1 quart water
cup of berry tea
2 cups veggie juice
2 cups energy soup
2 cups water
another pre–wedding shared sampling meal of some of the wedding feast recipes, followed by raw chocolate/mint truffles - uh-oooohhhhhhhhh ;)
1 quart water

    Raw Union Updates:
Ooooooo lalalalaalaaaaa – ‘tis less than three weeks now until the Raw Union festival and our wedding on June 21st, Summer Solstice ;O We are EXCITED...
The festival is expanding so much that we are happily now accepting more volunteers again into the team. Applications are open again on the Volunteers part of the RawUnion site HERE.
As I mentioned before, we’d really LOVE to know in advance how many to cater for at the ‘all–you–can–eat’ raw food wedding buffet, so if you intend to be there and haven’t already bought your festie tickets, please help us solidify numbers by getting your tickets now. The festie ticket prices are also due to rise on June 10th (from $65 for the weekend for adults to $85), so there’s an extra reason to get your plans set now ;) You can get tickets HERE.
We look forward to seeing all of you there who are able to join us :)

    on May 31st (my 7TH anniversary of going raw - yeeeeeeee-HAH ;) I had:

This year the crew will be doubling up the love with TWO summer events: firstly a raw retreat from July 3rd–10th, then a festival from August 14th–17th – FUN :)
The retreat will comprise of a week of tranquility and workshops such as building benders and making didgereedoos – nice ;). There will be lots of healing time in nature, yoga classes, acoustic music, drumming by the fire, massage and possibly a sweat lodge too...

I would love to introduce you, if I may, to the wonderful world of Ms. Michelle Sabathne...if you are not yet familiar with this wonderful raw goddess, I strongly recommend jumping over to her ’Becoming Younger’ blog HERE.
If Michelle’s name already sounds familiar to you, that might be because she was the editor for both of Mr. Monarch’s books, or because she hosted a ‘Juice Feasting’ series of conference calls with me after my 92-day Feast, or because she’s been on The Raw Food World TV show a few times already, or because she is one of the phone angels at The Raw Food World...she is a woman of MANY talents ;)
Michelle has been 100% raw for many years and has a raw–markable story of recovery from her ‘death–bed’ with raw foods, guided by Spirit.
Like Mr. M, madame Sabathne is also very inspired by the writings of Dr. Norman Walker and a couple of months ago she started her wonderful ‘Becoming Younger’ blog, in which she documents her daily food intake, relating it to Walker’s recommendations, plus shares her beautiful life insights, journey, feelings and experiences.
Michelle will also be holding a workshop on relationships at the Raw Union Festival, plus helping lead the women’s sacred song circle on the Saturday evening – she is a wonderful singer with a rich background in women’s singing groups – love it :)
Michelle is one of the most heart–centred, loving, clear, generous people I’ve met, with an infectious laugh, a beautiful smile and a passionate love for life...she’s a true goddess and I thoroughly recommend checking out her insightful musings...you can even sign up on her site to receive her blogs by email whenever she posts smthg new – see BecomingYounger.blogspot.com and ENJOY :)

    All love,

I'm sooooo happy to be back...though I was also sad to leave Vilcabamba... ;( We’ll be back there to our land later this year sometime though, all being well...for now, we’re back here in the US and LOVING it...
We just arrived here yesterday morning after over 24 hours of travel back from Vilcabamba and now we're abt to head out on the road for a mini-lecture tour, which starts in Seattle this Friday... pheeeeew ;)
In the end everything went just fine with the process of re–entering the US with my fiancee visa – in fact one of the border guards had seen me on CNN last year and they were mainly just fascinated to hear abt raw food ;) Nice ;)

Guess WHAT? As if there isn’t enough excitement whizzing around our bubbles right now, I arrived to our warehouse here in Ojai, California yesterday (the first time I’ve actually ever seen the warehouse, as it’s been nearly 2 years since I was last in the US ;)...and guess what else had also just arrived at the warehouse? The FIRST EVER printed copy of my book Raw Emotions straight off the press ;O :) :)
I am SOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED to meet the book in person :) The full consignment of the printed books is on its way to us and hopefully will be here in the next few days, depending on transport times...I’ll announce it with gleeeeee when they’re here and ready for sale...for now I have been flicking through this first copy with total joy and gratitude...this is my first ever ‘real’ printed book and it feels amazing to see it in the physical.
It was printed on recycled paper with veggie inks and we are donating $1 from the sale of every copy towards organisations that either protect native forests or plant new trees – YUMMY :) This is a revised, extended and updated version than the original Raw Emotions ebook and contains a foreword from my original raw food inspiration, Victoria Boutenko ;) FUN :)

    We love yoooooooouuuuuuuuuuuu alllllllllll,
    Miss Stokes. xxx
