Birthday Joys :)

Yesterday was my 32nd Birthday and I had so much FUN :)))

Thanks so much to all of you who sent bright birthday messages and kind wishes :) We were back in gorgeous sunny Ojai surrounded by boxes, envelopes and packages of things people had sent here to the warehouse... :) We went for a lovely hike in the mountains, drank juice, went to the fabulous Santa Barbara Farmers' Market to procure the finest fresh figs and other yummies, walked on the beach, paddling in the Pacific along the way, then in the evening Mr. M had arranged a cheeky surprise birthday party for me with lovely friends ;)
We enjoyed raw cupcakes made with love and then the gathered lovelies decided to hold a *beautiful* birthday blessing ceremony for me, wherein I lay in the middle as everyone gathered around and offered such sweet blessings to my path, before pulling together to levitate me up to the ceiling - a liiiift up into my next spin around the sun - fun ;)

In case you missed my special birthday gifts to YOU in my newsletter this week, you can check those out in the section below...

On August the 8th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
2 tbsp bee pollen
3 cups greeeeeeeeeen juice
½ bag of fresh cherries with a few fresh figs
1 cup water
1 cup mixed veggie juice
a fascinating item from a raw food deli in So-Cal - smthg like an Indian Samosa, stuffed with veggies and nut pate, served with baby spinach, followed by a couple of slices of dried pineapple
mug of horchata tea
1 cup water

gelasmilekalefield.jpgYesterday, (Tuesday the 10th of August) was my 32nd Birthday :)
I wanted to share something special with all of YOU guys on this occasion and decided to offer 8 of my favourite products from our store at a whopping 32% Off :) Here is the gorgeous goodie list below:

Click HERE to order any of these goodies at 32% Off...

...and for those of you who may not be drawn to any of these items right now, remember that we have lots of fabulous freebies for you to explore too, such as our free raw food e-reports from HERE, the free playback calls of all the radio interviews we did in the last year from HERE and the two free ebooks I also produced in the last year, from ProfoundlyRaw.com and ProfoundlyRawRecipes.com...

Between all these special offers and fun freebies to explore, I do hope that you all find some reason to rejoice and celebrate today - we love and appreciate you :)

on August the 9th I loved:

1 quart water
1 tbsp bee pollen
3 cups greeeeeeeeeen juice
bowl of fresh fruit salad: papaya, peach, cherries, figs
shared cucumber salad meal with Mr. M, with cracker samples and almond butter
2 cups water
3 tbsp acai powder :)
2 cups water

on August the 10th it was my birthday and I enjoyed:

1 quart water
3 cups goji juice with Marine Phytoplankton
2 cups greeeeeeen juice
bowl of cherries and three apricots
1 cup water
yummmmmy fresh figs at the Santa Barbara farmers' market with a little raw almond butter
amazing SURPRISE birthday party raw cupcakes :) two delicious flavours: lemon-poppyseed and raspberry-white chocolate - wow :)) also birthday drinks: watermelon juice, samples of kevita cultured drinks
1 cup water

I also wanted to let you all know about some of the *amazing* eco-clothing stores online that I've been ordering things from lately... We basically came back from Ecuador with empty bags so that we can bring lots more things back there when we go back...so, as we came here with just the clothes on our backs, I was busy ordering some yummy new eco-friendly items before we arrived...
I have been absolutely *thrilled* with every item I've received so far - I LOVE it all and also got such great discounts and offers with some of these companies that I wanted to share the info here with you guys as well, so that you can maybe enjoy some eco-friendly bargains TOO...here we go:

Uncommon Scents - Free Shipping and Free Perfume Oil samples - I *love* the bamboo clothes from Dreamsacks - this site seems to have the best prices for them...

There are MANY more fabulous discounts on eco-clothing sites through the White Apricot
site, listed HERE - enjoy ;)

I also got more lovely things from some of my usual favourites:

I *hope* that the codes and offers above still work for you - they worked for me at the time of use - probably a good idea to use them sooner rather than later if there's smthg you like the look of, as they may expire otherwise - enjoy... ;)

All love and shimmying refinement,
Ms. Stokes-Monarch. xxx

WONDERFUL update from Living Light about the fund for Elaina Love and her young son Dominic who is currently in the process of reversing leukemia at Hippocrates in Florida. You may recall a few days back I posted a message via Living Light calling for donations to help support the lovely Loves during this challenging time and here is a wonderful little update from Living Light:

“Incredibly, within the first 24 hours, we had received over 200 donations ranging from $5 to $250. Since then, the money, love, and prayers have poured in abundantly - we have been overwhelmed with the response. Just today, we received word that a benefactor will pay $2000 of Dominic's medical expenses and financial support is continuing to flow in. At this point, we are happy to report that we are close to raising the entire $20,000 that Elaina estimated she needs to cover their travel to Hippocrates and the services Dominic requires in attempting to save his young life.”

And a little quote from Elaina too, on email, via Living Light:

Thank you all so very much for your generous contributions to Dominic's healing. My heart is so touched by you all and I am moved to tears daily. It touches me to my soul to know that you all care so much and to know how much we are loved. Dominic told me this morning that he plans on living to be an old man and that he will outlive us all! I loved hearing that. He is the bravest person I know and my personal hero!!!! One of the guests here told me today that he sets a good example for her and the others because he is so willing to do what it takes.
I know your love and prayers are powerful beyond measure. I appreciate your continued love and prayers, and am so grateful to all of you for the part you are playing in Dominic's return to well-being.
With all the love in my heart,
Elaina Love”

Apparently Brian Clement, director of Hippocrates, has also offered a partial scholarship to the Loves to help off-set the fees too :) Dominic still has a lot of healing to work through and all the love, prayers and support being sent their way are SOOOOO appreciated – it warms my heart so immensely too, to know that when one of the raw ‘tribe’ is in a challenging position like this, the raw ‘family’ gathers around to do our best to support them – LOVE it, thank you all SO much for all the yummy flow to the Loves :)

<3, love, LOVE,
Ms. Stokes-Monarch. xxx

Tooth Issues and Raw Food...

Lately we seem to have had a rush of Qs about teeth issues with a raw lifestyle. I thought it might be useful therefore to post here some info on this topic – here we go:

Many raw foodists seem to develop issues with their teeth. I recommend using natural toothpaste that does not contain glycerin, such as the 'Tooth Soap' products. Glycerin coats the teeth, meaning calcium and other beneficial ions cannot easily reach the enamel to help it regenerate. Teeth can regenerate, like all bones in the body, if given the chance. Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide is a great alternative choice for keeping the mouth clean. (Use only in a 3% solution. Add a drop or two of this solution to your toothbrush before brushing.) Eating mineral-rich black rock salt from India/Pakistan has been reported to strengthen and support tooth health as well. Most importantly, floss and brush your teeth daily, rinse your mouth out with water after eating/drinking anything sweet/acidic and...smile :)

Other than that, getting PLENTY of green leafy vegetables and mineral–dense foods into the body is KEY for getting lots of calcium into your system that can be used effectively by the body...plus sesame seeds/tahini/figs are great for calcium...we also now have the Raw Calcium/Grow Bone products from Garden of Life, if you want to supplement that way...
We also have some GREAT books on dental care on our site HERE.

I hope that helps :)

on October the 8th I loved:

1 quart water

bowl of chia pudding: chia soaked in blended apples with maca, lucuma, cinnamon and incan berries = YUMMMMM ;)

Exploring a Raw Vegan Village :)

I’m in Ojai, California at the moment... :) VERY happy to be back in this beautiful area...and today we met with the gorgeous mama Jinjee of TheGardenDiet.com, to explore The Raw Vegan Village project her family is involved with – WOW – what an amazing place...117 acres of pristine land in the hills, with a river running through it, masses of space to grow food, old growth trees, mineral–rich soil, backed onto national forest – just wonderful...if we’re very fortunate, by the time you read this, Mr. M will have posted a video tour of the land over at TheRawFoodWorld.tv (if not, you’ll find it there soon... ;)

One of the things we were talking about with Jinjee today was the emergence of new kinds of humans now, as we shift into a new stage of humanity’s flow here on Earth...some people might refer to ‘crystal’ children, ‘indigo’ children, different DNA formations, memes, states of consciousness, etc...whichever way it is referred to, it seems some interesting shifts are afoot...then this evening I was reading a passage in one book I’m currently enjoying about a ‘spiritual quest’ in S. America and this passage stood out to me:

“If an acorn contains within itself a plan for something as implausible
as an oak tree, then why couldn’t humanity also have an innate plan,
a preset wiring for a greater and more highly evolved human b
eing, and therefore, society?”

I love that – it really spoke to me...so, here’s to our ecstatic unfoldings into territories new... :)

on May the 1st I had:

1 quart water
1 quart beet/apple juice
3 romaine wraps stuffed with cucumber/avo/hempseed/dill/garlic/lemon juice mush, with dulse & tomatoes on top, followed by half an oatmeal cookiiiieeeeeee :)
3 cups water
2 cups greeeeen juice: celery, parsley, romaine, fennel, Jerusalem artichokes, cucumber, spinach, ginger
½ a GORGEOUS pineapple
half bowl of Monarch magic mix: blended apples/tahini/hazelnut butter with mulberries and goji berries on top
mug of rooibos tea
3 cups water

THANK YOU for all the amazing raw food dessert recipes that have been flowing in, in response to the current RawReform Giveaway Contest to win a copy of Ani Phyo’s new book: “Ani’s Raw Food Desserts” :) If you haven’t yet sent your entry in and would love to be in the mix for a chance to win this gorgeous little book, just send in your answer to the following Q, to angela@rawreform.com:

Somebody wrote in recently about how much they enjoyed the ‘Green Leaves’ song I put up on YouTube over a year ago now – a raw food version of ‘Greensleeves’ – one of my all–time favourite songs ;)
I hadn’t listened to this raw version myself for a while, so thought I’d re–post it here too, for everyone to (re–)enjoy :) I feel getting plenty of fresh leafy greeeeeeens into our bodies daily is a key part of being healthy as a human...so, maybe this song will help inspire you along that path some more, if you’re not already resonating with a vibrant greeeeen glow... ;)
ENJOY ;)

(BTW – I have been drinking the bright red beet/apple juice combo for liver cleansing for the last 6 days now...I’m going to start the liver FLUSH part of the process tomorrow evening (Sunday) – all healing/soothing/releeeeeaaaaaasing vibes gratefully received... ;)

All love,

Eco-Friendly Homes and Markets

WHEW...wow, thanks for all the feedback, people ;) Between announcing our move to Ecuador a few days ago and launching the RevitaLive Plan yesterday, my inbox is about to collapse ;)
Sooooooo many amazing messages about Ecuador - thank you, everyone, for the love, support, excitement and joy...we are SO excited to get there... One reader, Kevin, actually sent in a really inspiring little YouTube video showing the construction of a very beautiful 'Sacred Geometry Organic House' - WOW - check it out - I suspect I could get lost in the YouTube 'related videos' for this one for hours ;) Lemme know if you poke around in there and dig up any more gems ;)
We don't yet see clearly how our home in Vilcabamba will take form - we do know it will be yummy though and rounded and as eco-friendly as we can make it, all being well. We are working with a WONDERFUL architect, who we're really excited to share this vision with, as we connect the flow of the garden to the home in one joyous loop of lusciousness ;)
Here's the video link for this 'Sacred Geometry' house for now:

3 cups water

Mr Monarch did a couple of really cool little 'tour' videos on The Raw Food World TV Show recently. The first is at the Ojai Farmers' Market in California - check out the greeeeeeeeeeeeeeens :O Ohhhhhhhh, I would SO love to be there with my beloved already, soaking up vibrant green nutrition and sunshine...hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...breathing deep still here in the UK, appreciating instead the first green buds and shoots that I see starting to pop out in the garden ;)

The second little tour video is of 'Mother's Market and Kitchen' in Orange County - WOW - I haven't been to this health food store - I think it's a new addition to their chain - it looks AMAZING - packaged raw paradise, WITH a juice bar ;) LOL ;) You can see that video HERE.

Goddess Gaia Rising...

WOW, what a yummy first couple of days of life-out-in-the-world ‘Raw Emotions’ has enjoyed :) Thank you all SO much for all the beautiful comments that have been coming in – I’m finally getting somewhat caught back up with email again now ;)
Here’s a moving comment left anonymously by a dear soul, on this blog:

“I've started reading raw emotions, and it is truly a blessing. Reading it gave me new insight into my situation, and the courage to think about leaving an emotionally toxic relationship I have in my life (one with a person) and an equally abusive relationship that I have by punishing myself with food. Thanks Angela! Although the focus of your book isn't toxic people, the healthy, loving ideas in it give readers the tools and the confidence to reclaim their lives from toxic people, abusers, and addictions.”

Wow, thanks for the feedback and all blessings to you as your own healing unfolds...
Here is another sweet little review a reader in Alaska recently posted to her blog - http://rawfoodcoldclimate.blogspot.com/ :

“I purchased Angela Stokes Raw Emotions today, and it will be my trusted companion for the rest of this journey. I know this is my key to moving forward in the face of an amazing upwell of emotional detox. This book inspired me to break out my highlighter by page 10, the back of page 18 has a poem that I will keep to myself written on it, and by page 21 I was truly connecting to the heart of where I am right now.”

Thanks Kristi – I hope you continue to enjoy the book :) If you haven’t delved into Raw Emotions yet, you can see an excerpt HERE. Enjoy :)

On March the 9th I had:

1.5 quarts water
½ watermelon
16oz celery/lettuce/cucumber/parsley/carrot/ginger juice
bowl of grated cucumber mixed with avocado pieces, mixed sprouts, karengo seaweed and finely chopped cilantro, served in lettuce wraps and nori sheets
1.5 quarts water
16oz celery/lettuce/cucumber/parsley/carrot/ginger juice
bowl of ‘gingerbread’ yum: soaked goji berries blended with pine nuts, served with fresh raspberries and banana pieces – YUMMM :)
1.5 quarts water

On another subject entirely, Terri wrote in to say:

“I have another question for you....Where do you get your clothing? What is it made of?
Terri in Texas”

Thanks for the Q Terri. I love beautiful clothing and was often frustrated in my obese days with the limited range of clothes on offer in stores for ‘plus sizes’. Since losing the weight and changing about 10 clothing sizes in the process, I’m now MUCH happier with the clothing choices available ;)
When I first started to fit into smaller clothing sizes, however, I felt quite overwhelmed by all the choices available. I found it hard to focus – it seemed like there was suddenly just so much choice. I also felt uncomfortable still in stores with smaller sizes. As a teenager, I had many unpleasant experiences in clothing stores, feeling awkward and out-of-place while I waited for others to try things on – I always felt shame and avoided the shop assistants, who I feared were disgusted by me. I’ve since slowly softened into the idea though that it is actually ok for me to be in those stores and my awareness of what I really want in life has slowly refined too - so, these days I am delighted to make very specific choices about the clothes I purchase.
I choose almost only organic cotton, bamboo or hemp clothes and aim to buy from small retailers, whom I preferably meet in person. I want to adorn my body with clothes that have been made with love and consciousness, rather than in a sweat-shop by someone who is unlikely living their passion. I am completely willing to pay more for a few beautiful pieces of well-made, loved clothing, than get many cheaper, ‘empty-feeling’ pieces. Life is all about choices and we vote with our ‘dollar’ every single time we buy things. I want to feel great about the choices I make and the businesses I support, so that’s why I aim for eco clothing companies. The mainstream cotton industry is one of THE most polluting industries in the world, with shocking rates of cancer among workers. So, even if I see GORGEOUS clothes made with 100% cotton and it’s not ORGANIC cotton, I’m not really interested these days... My ‘wardrobe’ (read: 'backpack ';) is still in transition though, as my older garments are phased out and all new eco-purchases are added in, as I find garments I really resonate with. As for second-hand clothes, or those made from RECYCLED materials – I’m definitely open to those options too...
Here are ten of my favourite eco-clothing makers and suppliers to check out, in no particular order:

Mountains of the Moon - hemp, organic cotton and more
Organic Avenue - FABULOUS eco-outlet in New York
Sweetgrass - long-lasting, durable hemp clothes
Texture - 2 sweet girls in the Pacific NW making 'clothing with a conscience'
Under the Canopy - eco-underwear - oooooo lala ;)
Spellwear - magical hemp clothes made from the UK
Ecolution - more yummy hemp creations
Rawganique - HUGE warehouse of eco-clothes, based in BC, Canada.
Not Just Pretty - absolutely FABULOUS site also in BC, PACKED with eco-clothes
The Natural Store - UK based with lots of great UK eco-labels like Ciel, Enamore, Gossypium.
