Sunday Raw Inspiration... :)

MMMmmmmm, we’ve got some lovely Sunday inspiration treats for you today, starting off with a selection of raw recipe videos from our very Monarch selves... ;) Yes, being “off the road” seemingly gives us more time to get creative in the kitchen and we’ve been whipping up veggie storms this last week in kitchens across California ;)

Here are a few of our recent recipe vids over at TheRawFoodWorld.TV – more to come ;)

Zucchini Pasta/Cheese Sauce Recipe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvaNMDVViVE

More recipe videos to come – Mr. M has a whole reel of them lined up ;) ENJOY...

OoooOoOoOoo, Madame Jinjee put up a couple of yummy-looking free resources this week – first up is a free guide on how to help children eat more vegetables, written by her friend Brandi, who is a researcher into obesity among children – see HERE. The second inspiring resource is a beautiful recording of raw actor Marcus Patrick reading the Essene Gospel to the sublime background of Storm playing music – NICE :) You can check that out HERE...thanks for sharing the yummies, Jinjee ;)

Raw Pregnancy and Raising Raw Children

Now, don't get excited - I'm not pregnant or having a child anytime soon ;) I just watched a wonderful little YouTube video today of Summer Kolesar speaking with Paul Nison about raising raw children and got inspired... You can see that video HERE. Summer is a beautiful soul si*star* who I had the pleasure to meet when I spoke in Asheville in 2007. If I recall correctly, she was raised ‘semi–wild’ in Canada, foraging the bounties of nature and she is still a wonderful wild–food gatherer to this day, plus all–round gorgeous raw goddess and mother ;)

As you may recall, the current RawReform Giveaway Contest is also about raising children raw (you can see the details for the giveaway HERE to win a signed copy of Shazzie’s latest book, Evie’s Kitchen). We have wonderful suggestions flowing in daily by email about how to best help children eat healthier food...
SO, with all this wonderful info buzzing around, I felt inspired to compile a list of useful resources for those interested in raising children raw. This is actually smthg people ask me about often, although I am not (yet ;) a mother, so I thought it would be helpful to collect all these fabulous resources together in one place, for all to enjoy ;)
(FYI - I also just posted this info to the main RawReform site in the articles section HERE, in case you'd like to refer to it without the food logs etc in the middle ;)

Here we go:

Foods that children seem to LOVE :)
As previously mentioned, I am not yet a mother – from what I’ve observed of raw children however, these seem to be some of their favourite foods:

*fresh fruits
*smoothies – greeeeen or nut–milk based
*nut/seed milks
*raw cakes, pies, cookies, yumballs – anything sweet ;)
*bee pollen
*chia puddings
*raw food snack bars
*grawnolas/cereals
*dried fruits like mulberries, goji berries, incan berries
*freeze–dried fruit – mangosteen, jackfruit, durian

The biggest struggle most raw parents seem to have is getting greeeeens into the little loves...well, here’s sending you all great gushing green smoothie love... ;)

Ok, I listed everything that came to mind here about raising children raw...I hope this is useful to at least some of you ;)
I’m sure there are other wonderful resources out there too – feel free to leave a comment below HERE if there are other links/books etc you’d love to see added to this list :) Also remember that you can see this article HERE for reference without the food logs etc...

ENJOY :)

Raw Videos, Talks and Events - Get Your Raw Kicks Here ;)

Ooo, check out this new Google Vid of myself and the dear Rainosheks having a JUICY chat a few days ago, on my second Juicy Monday and their 9th day of the Global Juice Feast. We had a little pow-wow on Skype for the first half of this video, talking about juicy adventures, ‘Raw Emotions’ and more - check out Katrina’s lovely thoughts about the obstruction to energetic flow that solid foods create in the system, before they’re assimilated into the body – love it ;) See HERE:

The Rainosheks have been posting videos to Google every day of the GJF so far – you can check them out by going to http://video.google.com and typing ‘Global Juice Feast’ in the search box.

Talking of events, I just realised I haven’t bigged up the Raw Lifestyle Film Festival here yet – and it’s just days away now – eeeeek. Well, I’m sure many of you have heard anyway about this yummy event kicking off from March the 21st to the 23rd in LA.
It’s the second year for the festie this year, which started as a simple little idea from dear Jinjee to get some people together and show some raw-related flicks, to being a HUGE, action-packed, internationally attended event in Hollywood ;) LOL... It was muchos fun last year – I’d just got back from Costa Rica and the Monarch and myself attended the whole film festival; we met many fabulous beings, absorbed many hours of incredible footage and sampled some delicious treats. My favourite film last year was, as I’ve said before, ‘Birth As We Know It’ – absolutely PHENOMENAL...essential viewing for any pregnant women or those intending to parent, methinks...
This year the line-up looks GLOWING too – you can see info abt the festie HERE, including a key-note speech from world-renowned transformational worker, LOUISE L. HAY - WOW :). Other presenters will include Viktoras Kulvinskas, Victoria Boutenko, Matt Amsden, Happy Oasis, Patricia Bragg, the Rainosheks, Cherie Soria and many more...
I’m especially excited to see Valya Boutenko’s offering, 'Reversing the Irreversible' - she apparently interviewed 37 different people who have all healed various ailments and diseases by going raw – YUMMY :)
I would, as ever, LOVE to be there to play out with all the shiny creative yumsters – we’re quite a trot from LA at the moment though...so, next year for us ;) In the meantime, ENJOY if YOU are going to play out at the festie – and do let us know what you enjoyed if you do attend... ;) Discounted tickets for the event are only available until MARCH 15th - so get in soon, before the prices go up - PLUS, please note that one tree is planted for every ticket purchased - tres cool ;)

All love,
Angela. xxx
