Three Fabulous Gardening Inspirations :)

OooOOoooo, I have three YUMMY gardening links to share with y'all today...I received a sudden flurry of garden-related links from readers and would love to share three of the very inspiring stories here today...

First of all, please raise your green juices to extraordinary 11-year-old Katie Stagliano in South Carolina, who is currently running SIX different gardens, producing over 4000 pounds of fresh veggies to distribute to homeless shelters in her area...WOW...watch out for this heart-warming little dynamo, there's beautiful power in this one ;) You can read about her amazing efforts, dedication and love in an article over HERE and Katie's main site can be found at http://www.katieskrops.com - she even has grants to give out to other children who would love to start their own gardens :) Thanks so much to the lovely Courtney Pool for sharing this story :)

on July the 14th I surprised my tastebuds with:

1 quart water
3 cups watermelon/mandarin juice
2 cups greeeeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
2 dragon fruits
1.5 cups greeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
2 tbsp bee pollen
little bowl of avocado mushed with dulse and sauerkraut, stuffed into nori sheets and spread on sauerkraut flax crackers, followed by a little hand-stitrred 'yumpot' of pistachio butter with stevia, chocolate+vanilla extracts, maca powder, water
mug of horchata tea
1 cup water

Next up in this gardening odyssey, please meet the charming folks over at "Seeds of Solidarity" in Massachusetts, who are also running some *very* cool gardening operations, welcoming local teenagers to help with the massive gardens, connecting community, co-creating a nurturing environment for the teenagers to feel more connected, setting up gardens at local schools, distributing free food to 'seniors' who don't get out to markets anymore and so on - GREAT vibe with this crew - check out their inspiring 10 minute intro video to their work called "Grow Food Everywhere", HERE:

Their main site is found here: http://seedsofsolidarity.org - thanks to the delightful Lynn Michaels for sending over these links :)

on July the 15th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
2 cups watermelon/mandarin juice
2 cups greeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
a dragon fruit, a papaya
water of a young coconut
2 cups greeeeeen juice mixed with pineapple juice
leftover cucumber salad stuffed into nori sheets, followed by a little bowl of Mr. M's apple/tahini mixture
mug of horchata tea
1 cup water

Finally today, let's dive into the magical world of "WindowFarms"...this one is especially for all of you living deep in the hearts of cities...meet Britta Riley, an NYC resident and founder of the WindowFarms Project, an innovative and very cool system for growing food on the inside of WINDOWS, using recycled materials...you can see a fabulous intro video on this technique HERE:

...and the main site for more info on WindowFarms is: http://www.windowfarms.org - thanks to the splendid Leslie Caren, founder of Coconut Secret for these links ;)

WELL...I hope y'all found smthg inspiring in this magical hattrick today - enjoy getting those fingers in the soil, one way or another... ;)

All love,
Ms. Stokes-Monarch. xxx

Spreading the Raw Love...

I just spoke tonight for the first time ever at a women's' homeless shelter, in Sacramento. It was a unique, moving and interesting experience for me, finding out how to share this healing message in a way that makes sense and is useful for these women...it is my sincere hope that they all took away something from the evening that resonates for them and perhaps we'll hear of some interesting shifts in their lives, further down the line... This was an especially moving experience for me, as at one point I too lived in a shelter like this for a few nights, during my years in Iceland, when my life was turning inside-out and topsy-turvy...at that point I felt like I had nowhere else to go and no real clarity about the direction my life was going in...and here I was tonight, 5 or 6 years later, in a similar shelter, sharing a message of healing and positive transformation with a lovely group of women and children. My heart sings with these women and I hold the highest vision for their radiant unfoldings...I left some raw food books there with them too, to hopefully spread some inspiration...
There are many shelters like this worldwide, where women and children can find refuge...I feel these are very important healing centres for the energetic loops of this world that we cu
rrently live in. At this particular centre we visited tonight, the women not only have shelter and board, they also receive practical classes in important life skills, to help them make more positive choices when they leave the shelter... Love it... If you would love to support the work at their shelter, you can find out all about it HERE or perhaps Google for a shelter near you where you might be able to do a raw food demo/talk, donate some extra produce/books, do a DVD presentation, set up a food growing garden or something similar...let's show our sisters some raw love ;)
