What The World Eats...

Have you ever seen the amazing set of photos from the book called "Hungry Planet: What The World Eats"? I remember seeing these for the first time years ago and it was fun to see them resurface again recently in my inbox via the lovely Courtney Pool from The Tree of Life...she sent over these two links for picture galleries of what families worldwide eat in a typical week - I LOVE projects like this (watch out for the super-smiley Ecuadorian tribe ;)...check it out:

I would love to know how they chose which families to feature worldwide...
Can you identify with any of these pictures? Whose intake would you most like to experience or emulate...? Which family spread looks the scariest to you...? Who looks the happiest and healthiest to you? How much money does *your* family spend on food in a week? Is it nearer the $5.03 of the Namgay family in Bhutan or the $500.07 of the Melander family in Germany...? ...and where are the raw foodies in any of these pics...? ;) Maybe someone would love to do a project like this featuring just raw foodies worldwide? Now THAT would be interesting to see, methinks... ;)
