Biting the Raw Apple in NYC ;)

The last few days have been INTENSE: after a wonderfully relaxing stay out in the woods at Ronora Lodge in Michigan, we have been in full-on festie/expo mode here in NYC the last couple of days, at the Raw Food/Yoga Expo - pheeeeeeeeew ;) Thanks to everyone who has come along to see us there - we'll be there all day tomorrow again, at the New Yorker Hotel, then we head off west again ;)
Here are a few recent pics:

"With ease we may express love to children, touched by their vulnerability, certain we'll not be bruised by rejection. If only we'd continue our free expression of love to all the child adults on our paths, we'd discover both exhilaration and the courage to face any event life passes our way."

Join Our Team at Raw Spirit Fest :)

MmMmmm, exciting opportunity alert: would you love to come and help out at our ‘Raw Food World’ booth at the Santa Barbara Raw Spirit Festival next weekend – June 5–7th? We are looking for two more lovely helpers.
In return for helping out at the booth roughly half of each day, you will receive a complimentary admission pass for the whole festival. You will be working in a team of around 6 people – this will likely equate to working around 3–5 hours each day, from Friday to Sunday. Roles might include serving customers, answering questions, setting up and packing down the booth, re–stocking the booth, running miscellaneous errands and so on.
Accommodation and travel are not provided – camping is easily available onsite however. We would love to welcome two people to the team who are good communicators, honest, co–operative, diligent, fun, heart–centered, active, experienced with raw foods, quick–thinking, self–motivated and with high integrity. If that sounds like you and you’d love to join us for this event, please email angela@rawreform.com and let us know in one paragraph or less why you think you’d be ideal for this role – thanks ;)

on May the 27th I had:

1 quart water
chia meal: chia seed soaked in blended mango and water, with fresh cherries/strawberries and freeze–dried durian on the side
1 quart water
30 chlorella ‘nuts’
big salad: masses of fresh leafy greens smothered in a dressing (tahini, pumpkin seed butter, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, water, touch of Himalayan salt and stevia), followed by a little ‘Yoga Bar’ from Everything Raw
3 cups water

Here are two little gems of insight that people shared with me recently on our travels that I’d love to pass on:

i) via Betsy, the raw reflexologist in Michigan: many people carry ‘S.H.O.U.L.D’s on their S.H.O.U.L.Ders’ – see the connection? I’d never noticed that before, that the word ‘shoulders’ carries a 'hidden should’ ;) I see the imagery of people walking around feeling ‘the weight of the world on their shoulders’, concerned about all the things they feel they ‘should’ do... Mmmmmm...personally I very rarely use the word ‘should’ towards myself or anyone else – every moment is a choice ;)

ii) I loved a recent conversation with a young raw couple in which they conveyed their current intention to no longer eat ‘anything with a barcode on it’ ;) lol – I love that...such a great image...I often share in our talks a saying from my friend Kathy that in the supermarkets ‘the middle aisles will kill you’ – this barcode imagery resonates along the same lines for me – how many barcodes do we see in nature...??? ;)

on May the 28th I had:

1 quart water
30 chlorella ‘nuts’
chia meal: chia + maca powder stirred into gel with water, stevia powder, vanilla powder, carob powder, fresh cherries, dried durian pieces and fresh strawberries
1 quart water
10 chlorella ‘nuts’
big salad: masses of fresh leafy greens smothered in a dressing (tahini, almond butter, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, water, touch of Himalayan salt and stevia), followed by a little ‘Yoga Bar’ from Everything Raw
3 cups water

Annie Jubb joins Raw Union - YAY :)

OoOooooooo, I’m VERY excited to say that the lovely Annie Jubb is now going to be joining us at the Raw Union festie :) Annie also happens to be an ordained minister (like Dr. Wolfe – what a fabulously talented community this is ;)...and she will be offering a blessing at our wedding ceremony, bringing in some more divine feminine energy to the occasion – love it :) Annie also tells us that Spirit downloaded names for myself and Mr. M to her and she is going to pass those on to us at the wedding – I’m excited to hear those :)
...AaAaAaaaaaand, I’m thrilled to share that Ms. Jubb will also be helping to head up the Goddess Gathering circle the evening before the wedding, where all the women will be welcomed to join in circle for sacred singing and sharing something from their experience as a ‘gift’ to the marriage. The men will also be doing something similar to this, in a separate men's gathering. It is truly going to be a powerful experience and gives everyone the opportunity to be involved in the ceremony, acting as wise council. We are so EXCITED and delighted to have Annie's participation. Raw Living in Las Vegas... ;)

WELL...we survived Vegas ;) We actually had great fun, even if it is the scariest place I’ve ever been ;) Aside from exposing our beings a little to the lights, crowds, enormous buildings, colours, smells, astro–turf lawns and base chakra energies of ‘The Strip’ and beyond, we also enjoyed some choicer adventures... We had a lovely visit to the abode of Steve Pavlina and his wife Erin for an enlightening lunch (you can see a little video of our visit on TheRawFoodWorld.tv HERE).

on May the 14th I had:

    1 quart water
    little glass of orange juice
    2 Tbsp E3 Live
a sweeeeet little honeydew melon with a chunk of watermelon
    1 quart water
    30 chlorella ‘nuts’
a couple of durian pods, water of two young coconuts with a handful of rawnola cereal
    1 quart water

We also went to see the fabulous aqua-spectacular show ‘Le Rêve’/’The Dream’ (similar to a Cirque de Soleil production) – WOW :O I always absolutely LOVE seeing shows like this as it is SO amazing to me to see what the human body is capable of doing, with some training ;) There were around 50 people in the show and they all seemed to be astonishingly fit and supple...totally awe–inspiring – the dancing, the acrobatics, the lifts, turns, drops and dives...I love it...you can see a little preview of the show HERE – absolutely jaw–dropping...

on May the 15th I had:

    1 quart water
2 cups veggie juice: celery, cucumber, carrot
yummy raw meal with the Pavlinas: different salads with ranch dressing and flax crackers, plus pineapple/raspberry/banana fruit salad with a slice of strawberry/coconut pie
    1 quart water
2 cups young coconut water blended with Greener Grasses powder
‘pina colada’ chia pudding meal: chia/maca powder soaked in water, mixed with fresh mulberries, pineapple chunks, young coconut ‘noodles’, goji berries
    3 cups water

on May the 16th I had:

    1 quart water
3 cups coconut water with Greener Grasses powder
    mono–meal of a yummmmmy durian
    1 quart water
water of one coconut with Greener Grasses
romaine wraps stuffed with avo, dulse, tomatoes and masses of sprouts, followed by half an oatmeal cookie :)
    3 cups water

We also had WONDERFUL fun in Vegas staying at the home of Mr. Markus Rothkranz. WOW ;O Now, I have travelled all over the world and stayed in countless hundreds of houses...and I have NEVER seen a place like this ;)
Markus is truly an extraordinarily talented person. If you’re not familiar with his work, you might like to check out his ‘GoRawNow.com’ site to start with – I was impressed seeing his ‘Hollywood’–style raw videos a couple of years back – however NOTHING compared to actually being at his house and directly encountering his artistic creativity...his house is literally like an art gallery or museum, with stunning photo–realistic paintings lining the walls, 4–foot long model galleons with moving parts, scaled models of movie sets and a whole collection of DVDs – ALL made by Markus... One of his latest DVDs is an inspiring documentary showing how to make your own Solar Power system for your house (which is the power source for Markus’ own place) – we actually sell that DVD on our site HERE.
Markus worked as a special effects artist on many big films such as ‘Total Recall’ and ‘Die Hard’...he says he has been painting since before he could walk...plus he has just finished his first book (which spans 20 years of health research)...and he’s also just launched his own product line of cleansing/nutritional items...he is truly a creativity powerhouse...
We were extremely blessed to get to play in his costume department – you can see some of the results below ;) LOVE this ‘Renaissance Wench’ outfit – I want to dress like this all the time, please :) Thanks, Markus for such a fun visit :)

    All love,

This is the last little tour we'll be doing before our wedding at the Raw Union festie...so catch us now or forever hold your peace ;) lol - we will definitely be on tour again though after our marriage, from July sometime most likely...for now you can see all the full details for the above events on Mr. M's event page HERE...we hope to see you somewhere along the way... :)
...and if there's somewhere you'd love to hear us speak from July onwards and you're willing to help organise the event, please email us at angela@rawreform.com and we'll see what we can co-create...

on May the 8th I had:

    1 quart water
    2 cups mixed sprouts/carrot juice
    2 Tbsp bee pollen
    2 little orange mangoes
    3 cups water
    2 cups spinach/fennel/romaine/carrot juice
2 romaine wraps stuffed with avocado, dulse, tomatoes, mixed sprouts, followed by samples of three new raw ice cream flavours: goji, mango, vanilla – YUMMMM :)
    mug of rose tulsi tea
    2 cups water

If anyone out there has a huuuuuuuge tent they'd love to lend us for the Raw Union event, we'd be very excited to hear from you abt that too ;) We're looking for a very large tented area (e.g. 40' x 100') to accommodate the post-wedding party, with hundreds of attendees under one canopy ;) If that sounds like something you feel confident to cover, or have suggestions for, please drop us a line at angela@rawreform.com. Thanks :)
BTW - if you intend to be at the festie and have not yet got your tickets, it would be a BIG help for the food planners to know attendee numbers for the wedding celebration sooner rather than later (so we can be sure we have enough yummies for all ;), so please hop on over HERE and reserve your spaces if you haven't done so already - thank you :)

    Raw Emotions on Amazon :)

OOOoooo, I’m excited :) My book Raw Emotions is now up on Amazon for sale – I really feel like a 'real' author now ;) You can see it HERE...and perhaps, if you’ve read it already, you might LOVE to share a review on Amazon? That would be SUPER–appreciated and I will send huge energetic hugs and love to you (well, I do that every morning anyway – I’ll send even more... ;)
I received SUCH a sweet little message about 'Raw Emotions' yesterday from Alex Ortner (from the Simply Raw reversing diabetes movie). Alex is currently reading the book and wrote:

“Let me just say that your new book...ROCKS! I've only read about 1/3 of it so far (not much extra time with a baby) but I think it's a fantastic book. I'm REALLY big into understanding the reasons for why we do what we do...and I LOVE that your book takes a real and honest look into understanding the connections between food and emotions.

It is VERY well written. Sometimes I think that people get too lost worrying about raw food and don't understand the emotional and spiritual things going on behind their eating. I'm big into raw food but I don't think that you can really help somebody unless you look at the reasons for why people eat what they eat.

So, in short, really like the book. I think it's the best book I've read on raw food. :)”

Liver and Gallbladder Cleanse Results... ;)

PHEW…well, I’m out the other side of the liver cleanse now ;) It went well and I feel back on form now...Monday was a bit intense, releasing masses of old junk from my liver and moving verrrryyyy slowly with very low energy...
Many of you have been asking for details of the actual ‘flush’ part of the liver cleanse...so here’s what I did, based on Andreas Moritz’s ‘The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush’ book.

*First 6 days, added in 32oz of apple/beet juice to my usual routines. (The malic acid in the apples softens up any stones in the liver/gall bladder, for easier release.)
*Day 7, drank 32oz apple juice, stopped eating in the middle of the day. Mixed up 24oz of water with 4 Tbsp Epsom salts, then divided that solution into four 6oz glasses. (This mixture dilates the bile ducts.)
6pm, drank first Epsom salts drink, 8pm the next Epsom salts drink. 10pm, mixed 4oz olive oil with 4oz fresh grapefruit juice, stood by bed, drank that mixture, immediately laid down and drifted off to sleep.
*Day 8, awoke 6am, drank third Epsom salts drink, 8am drank fourth and final Epsom salts drink. Body into full releasing mode by then and feeling a little nauseous ;)

Read on below for some of my liver cleanse results/observations... ;)

on May the 3rd I had:

    1 quart water
    1lb cherries
    handful of fresh mixed sprouts
    2 cups water
3 romaine wraps stuffed with cucumber mush, dulse, tomato etc, followed by a little handful of pieces of Rawnola
    2 cups water
    1 quart apple juice
    6oz water with Epsom salts
    6oz water with Epsom salts
    2 cups water
8oz olive oil with grapefruit juice

on May the 4th I had:

    6oz water with Epsom salts
    1 quart water
    6oz water with Epsom salts
1 cup strong veggie juice – nettles, fennel, spinach, carrot
    3 cups water
    a fingertip of royal jelly
    a YUMMY honeydew melon
    1 quart water
    2 tbsp bee pollen
    3 cups hardcore green juice
a couple of spoonfuls of ‘Monarch apple meal’ mixture, ½ an apple and a handful of Pakistani mulberries
    3 cups water

Here are some of the things I observed about this liver cleansing process:

*I was surprised that along with the green stones/sludge etc, I seemed to also be releasing a lot of ‘foam’ after the cleanse. I looked this up and while there seem to be many different opinions out there abt what this foam represents, Mr. Moritz himself states this is a form of ‘cholesterol crystals’ – interesting ;)
*My energy was verrrrryyyyy very low on Monday, the day of the last Epsom salts drinks/releasing. Reading more of Mr. Moritz’s musings, I saw that he describes this procedure as akin to the liver and gallbladder undergoing ‘major surgery’ (albeit non–invasive)...mmmm, that resonated for me...while I’ve never had any surgery, I could sense that this had had a big impact on my body and it wanted time to recover.
*It was very challenging for me to eat anything other than simple fruits on the ‘release’ day of the cleanse. I attempted to eat a blended apple/tahini/dried mulberry meal with Mr. M in the evening and just couldn’t do it. I ate abt 2 spoonfuls and couldn’t go anymore ;) My body was suddenly ‘demanding’ that I chew everything ENTIRELY thoroughly before swallowing (which it is usually very clear about anyway – now it felt like a super–strict demand ;) It literally took me about 10 minutes to chew down half an apple...I couldn’t deal with much more than that, except a few gorgeous fresh mulberries ;)
*As I write this, it is two mornings after the release and I feel back on form again, I’m happy to say ;) Not sure if/when I’ll do a liver cleanse again...I really don’t enjoy the Epsom salts part of the protocol...(rubbing half a lemon over the tastebuds immediately after drinking the Epsom salts mixture definitely helps me though, along with downing the mixture very quickly ;) ...we shall see...I just do these cleanses when I feel drawn to do so...so, for now I trust that my liver and gallbladder are feeling sparklier and appreciated this release session ;)

on May the 5th I had:

    1 quart water
    shotglass of fresh orange juice
2 cups greeeen juice: celery, parsley, fennel, dandelion, Jerusalem artichokes, romaine lettuce
an apple, 3 tbsp bee pollen with hemp seeds
2 cups celery, cucumber, parsley, spinach, carrot juice
    2 cups water
raw desserts feast: coconut water with strawberry cheesecake at Cru, plus handmade ‘cookies’ from Ani Phyo ;)
    2 cups water

OoOoOooo, FUN: yesterday we met the gorgeous Ani Phyo for dinner at Cru raw restaurant in LA and (rather appropriately) enjoyed desserts together, as Ani picked the winner of a copy of her latest book ‘Ani’s Raw Food Desserts’, from all the entries recently sent in to the RawReform Giveaway :)
You can see a video of Ani picking the winner HERE on TheRawFoodWorld.tv. I’m delighted to announce that the blessed recipient of the book is Heather Harper in Mexico City – CONGRATS, Heather :)
Heather actually sent in TWO favourite recipes, which she says she loves to share with her 2 year old daughter. Here are the recipes:

    Banana, I Scream!

    4 frozen bananas

1 extra ripe and spotty banana

    1/2 cup chia gel

    1/14 cup walnuts (topping)

    carob and cinnamon powder (topping)

Blend frozen bananas, ripe banana and chia gel in a high speed blender. Put mixture into the freezer for at least 2 hours to give it a firm, ice cream-like texture (unless you want
soft serve of course!). Sprinkle carob powder mixed with cinnamon powder over the I scream! and finally top with crushed walnuts. Yummmmmm!!!

    Ooey Gooey Yum Yum

    1 cup flax seeds

    1/2 cup almonds

    1/2 cup walnuts

    1/8 cup dark agave syrup

3 tablespoons of raw crystallized honey

    2 cups sliced strawberries

Grind flax, almonds and walnuts in a spice grinder or food processor until finely ground. Place the mixture in a bowl, add agave and honey, and mash the ingredients together int
o a mushy paste-like substance. Spread the mixture into small bowls (only about a 1/4 or 1/2 cup - it's really intense!!) and generously top with sliced strawberries. Indulge!!!

Note: I'm not big on measuring, so I made a guesstimate on quantities for the recipes that I'm sure would produce the same results.
As long as you keep flax as the base, you can use other nuts and seeds as well - I've made it with sunflower and black sesame.

Sound YUMMMY to me :) Love the name ‘Ooey Gooey Yum Yum’ too ;)
    Thanks Heather, thanks Ani...

Love and divine blissings to all :)
