On the subject of things I love, the ever-fabulous Ms. Kate Magic just posted a new song mix recently, over at her 'A Good Look' blog. Now, as some of you are aware, aside from being an author, speaker, mother, chef, artist, healer, creator and general mover-shaker, Ms. Magic is also an amazing DJ and she just put together a wonderful 'Ladies' Night' mix for her birthday :) Anyone can download it for free from HERE - enjoy :) Anything that involves Björk and Minnie Ripperton is bound to be wonderful, in my estimation ;)

Gratitude

We survived a pretty intense car crash tonight. Our car is probably 'totalled', along with the car that hit us and thankfully there were no major human injuries…some cuts, aches, shock…mostly I'm feeling extremely grateful to be alive right now – experiencing something like this really helps puts things in perspective ;) This is the first car crash I've ever been in. I feel grateful right now for the opportunity to still be here and sharing the message I share…to still be able to dance and sing in this body…I note the fragility of life and I give major gratitude at this time of 'Thanksgiving' here in the USA, for the opportunity to simply be here and share, make, do, create, love, flow and enjoy…may all blessings be with all of you as your journeys unfold…

Please be aware that Vilcabamba is a small town; if you intend to join this gathering, please come with a sense of respect and honour towards the local community, culture and ways of life – we can co–create an enjoyable, enriching experience for everyone!

This gathering is truly a co–creation; no–one is specifically 'in charge' of organising events, transport, lodging, etc...there is no participation 'fee' involved and everyone is free to create, invite, participate and enjoy as inspiration guides them...the Vilcabamba area is an active wonderland of synchronistic flow, so step into the river and enjoy the journey...

We could enjoy hikes together in Vilcabamba, raw food talks, foraging walks, horse–back riding, yoga sessions, group meditations, hot/cold spring adventures, farm tours, parties, drum circles, food demos and whatever else we might feel inspired into...

We have created a new community website for this event, where you can connect with other people about travel, accommodation, learning Spanish, researching the Vilcabamba area, making suggestions for activities together and so on – you can join that site freely and connect with others, HERE: http://rawinecuador.ning.com.

Vilcabamba is blossoming into a little hub in the Andes of raw food orientated/yogic/conscious/eco–friendly, like–minded community. Well–known for the longevity of its residents, the region is traditionally home to an unusual number of centenarians, seemingly due to the outstanding soil/air/water quality in the area and the relaxed pace of life. Life in Vilcabamba is very simple and easy–going, with many people still riding around on horseback, children playing safely in the streets late into the evening and life centered around the simple town square.

Vilcabamba is remarkably fertile and the climate in the area is described as 'like spring all year round', with food growing in abundance and houses built without either heaters or air conditioning...rich greenery, stunning views and rainbows abound...

This world-gathering of raw food enthusiasts and superheroes is a one-time only event. We're sure that we'll be talking about it for the rest of our lives...

Travel and Accommodation:

The easiest way to get to Vilcabamba from afar seems to be as follows:

Fly to Quito, take a smaller domestic plane from there to Loja in the south of Ecuador (the nearest big town to Vilcabamba), take a taxi/bus/car from Loja to Vilcabamba.
The domestic flights between Quito and Loja can be booked with TAME –http://www3.tame.com.ec/eng/index.htm.

Five Things That Surprise Me About Living in The USA...

I've been in the USA since April this year – about seven months solid now...I've been travelling pretty much that whole time, allllll over this vast country, from east to west and criss-crossing back again and again, giving raw food talks, spreading the message. While culturally there are clearly many overlaps between my native Britain and the USA, there are other things about life here that sometimes surprise me...I thought I'd share five of these here and would love to hear any feedback/comments any of you might love to share regarding these... ;)

1. Toilet Cubicles – one thing that has long baffled me about life in the USA is WHY public toilet cubicles seem to almost invariably have an approx. 1 inch gap around the door, so that people can easily view the toilet user through the gap if they want – and vice versa...I find this really bizarre and indeed have never seen this in any other country with such regularity – what IS this all about?
2. Diversity – this place is SO vast and sometimes I find it amusing that it's all lumped together into one 'country' (not that I'm very excited by borders/country definitions in general ;) The east coast reminds me often of Britain, with its quaint little towns, four seasons and older architecture...Florida seems like a totally different world with alligators, coconuts and rampant humidity, then there's the west coast with all its modernity, strip malls and enormous stretches of farmland...and that's not to mention the whole of the MIDDLE of this vast continent, with its mountains, flatlands, swamps and more...so much to explore ;)

on November the 14th I loved:

1 quart water
3 cups greeeeeeeeen juice: celery, cucumber, fennel, parsley, spinach, ginger, lime, apple
bowl of energy soup with fermented flax crackers on the side, followed by an apple
3 cups water
3 cups goji juice with Marine Phytoplankton and Merlin's Elixir
little plate of yummy desserts at a raw food potluck, including pumpkin pie and almond butter cookies: WOW :)
3 cups water

3. Invisible Natives – I'm surprised how little visibility there seems to be here of 'native' culture. The 'reservations' where native communities apparently now mostly live seem like a mystery to me, like a hidden parallel reality going on in this same land...I would LOVE to visit a reservation to see what is going on there...I'd also love to visit an Amish farm, as I find them kind of mysterious too – WHERE did this culture come from? We don't have 'Amish' people in Europe as far as I know – how did this come to be here? I'd love to know more abt these things, if anyone has anything to share... ;)

4. Patterns – virtually every house I've ever visited in the USA seems to have zip lock bags, mason jars and masses of pillows on the beds. Perhaps the zip lock bags and mason jars are raw foodie influences…what are all the pillows about though? There seems to be a pattern here to stack up at least five or more pillows onto beds…is this a cultural suggestion of comfort? Or to be able to watch TV in bed more cosily or…???
5. Dryers – it seems to me that almost everyone here dries their clothes using a dryer, regardless of the weather or where they live...this is definitely one of the oddest things about life here to me...in all my time here I think I recall ONE house that had a washing line outside to dry clothes and indeed many places actually have RULES in place that residents are NOT ALLOWED to dry clothes outside...HUH??? Dryers are hands–down usually the BIGGEST energy–sucking appliances in a household and they're not even NECESSARY in so many cases, with all the sunshine here...hence it really baffles me that more people don't seem to dry their clothes outside...I guess it's time to start an air–drying revolution ;)

Well, those are my reflections on surprises here for now – I'd love to hear your feedback – you can leave comments below, thanks ;)

on November the 15th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
2 cups greeeeeeeeeeen juice: celery, cucumber, fennel, parsley, endive, ginger, lime, apple
bowl of energy soup with samples of new raw essene breads on the side, followed by an apple
1 quart water
2 cups goji juice with Marine Phytoplankton
a few crudités with veggie dips followed by a little bowl of blended yum: pear, Sun Warrior powder, Irish Moss, mesquite powder, cinnamon, water, with some goji berry powder on the side and samples of a local raw chef's coconut macaroons, in NJ
3 cups water

on November the 16th I adored:

1 quart water
2 cups goji juice blended with camu powder
2 cups greeeeeen juice: celery, cucumber, spinach, parsley, ginger, lime
shared big salad with Mr. M covered in the amazing 'cheeze' sauce from Summer – WOW :) followed by an apple
1 quart water
1 cup beet/apple liver cleanser juice
bowl of blended yum: pear/ashwaganda/maca/Sun Warrior protein powder, mesquite powder, cinnamon, Irish moss, water, with goji powder on the side
3 cups water

Next weekend is the last weekend of the tour Mr. M and I are currently on, all over the USA – we speak in Maine and New Jersey and then we're DONE for a month – yeeeeeeeee–HAH :)
Sadly this weekend is also the same weekend that David Wolfe's 'Longevity Now Experience' seminar is happening over in California, so we won't be there to play in person, however, they have decided to STREAM this event live, for all those not able to be there in person – YAY :) So, you get to watch in on the events as they happen if you like, PLUS you can also re–watch the footage over and over again, whenever you like – yummy :) To get on board with the remote viewing of this seminar, click HERE and enjooooyyyyy some wild Wolfie insights ;)

I am excited to see this, as I've long felt there was a gap in the market in the UK for SAVOURY raw items to 'grab and go' at health stores - it seems like there's tonnes of raw chocolates there and not much savoury stuff, so...HURRAY for this new line ;)
You can check out the products at GourmetRaw.com and you can also suggest a health food store where you would love to get these new gems, HERE.

OMGODDESS, I am absolutely LOVING my new hemp flares from Texture Clothing. I first bought a hemp 'market' skirt from Texture a few years back at a Green Fest show and have probably worn it about half the time ever since then ;) Recently they brought out a new line of BEAUTIFUL hemp/organic cotton flared trousers with the tag line 'Good Luck Finding This Kind of Flare Elsewhere…' ;)
Now, I am an eco–flares aficionado and I will confirm these are indeed the yummiest hemp trousers I've met in a long time – these gals just make clothes that fit GREAT :) Love them...you can check out the Texture collection at www.textureclothing.com and I hope you enjoy their wonderful creations as much as I do :)

Five Surprising Things I've Learnt Since Releasing 160lbs...

Five Surprising Things I've Learnt Since Releasing 160lbs:
My life has changed in many surprising ways since releasing 160lbs with a raw lifestyle...here are a few of the more unexpected things I've come to understand/recognise:

1. The more giving, open-hearted and generous I am, the more the universe seems to deliver yumminess straight back at me, in abundance...

2. The more I listen to and honour the promptings of the 'still, small voice within', the more effortlessly and synchronously my life seems to flow...

3. I cannot make other peoples' choices for them, including what they eat, how they treat me or any of their reactions...

4. Don't take anything personally (kudos to Don Miguel Ruiz especially for this gem ;). If people are behaving towards me in a way that I find confusing or rude, I find it most useful now to recognise that it is their OWN stuff they are acting out towards me and to send them blessings and let go of it... ;)

5. I have a choice in every single moment to spiral my energy upwards or downwards – life is open to interpretation and misery is always a choice ;)

I trust you're enjoying your own inner and outer explorations too...what surprises you?

I was recently reminded of the AMAZING photo exhibition 'Ashes and Snow', which I had the supreme pleasure of visiting in person in LA, back in 2006...have you seen that exhibit? Apparently it has been seen by over 10 million people now, worldwide, making it "the most attended exhibition by any artist in history". WOW ;O ...So I would guess at least a few of you have borne witness to the astounding beauty in these photos, depicting humans and other animals together. NOTE: none of these photos have apparently been 'photoshopped' AT ALL, they are all shown as takentruly profound – check out the full gallery at the link below:

Your OWN Certified Organic Garden :)

OOooooooo, there's a very exciting new MLM company on the scene that I think y'all might be interested in, as it's all about growing fresh, certified organic foods :) (I'm not usually excited by MLM companies, just as I imagine many of you aren't either - this one seems genuinely very cool though...) The company is called "Organic Acres" and is truly a unique model for sustainable agriculture and business.
The idea is that wherever you live in the USA, you can have your own organic garden plot with them, where you get to choose what is grown and they manage the whole plot for you, even providing 24-hour camera surveillance and you get all the food grown on your plot delivered to you on demand, as you want it...wow...interesting methinks ;)
Now of course the IDEAL from my perspective would be for everyone to be growing/gathering food right where they live, however, for many people (especially in the big cities), that is not yet part of their reality, so if they're going to be getting foods from elsewhere anyway, it seems preferable to be getting certified organic foods from their own garden, from crops they've chosen themselves, non? ;)
The way this company has been set up actually makes it possible for people to pretty much end up getting all their fresh food for *free*, through introducing others to Organic Acres...and even if that isn't something you'd be excited to do, you still get so many benefits, for example, while you pay a $100 monthly maintenance fee for a full garden to be tended, you get BACK in return not only all the produce from your garden but also a $100 debit card to use in the Organic Acres online "General Store" that has many dried/packaged products, just like our store. You can also sell any excess fresh produce from your land in the community online "Farmer's Market"...

Organic Acres is so new that it hasn't even actually launched yet – it is about to go live in 1–2 months probably, so now is a GREAT time to get involved in this revolutionary food production business, if you're interested...and in fact the first 2000 people to join up now (for free) actually become part–owners of the company, receiving 2% of any company profits in the years to come...I think this is a really exciting opportunity for people interested both in green businesses PLUS getting top quality certified organic fresh produce delivered straight to your door from your own plot – love it :) You can sign up HERE to learn more and secure your place as one of the pioneers of this blossoming business...enjoy ;)
