Chia Seed Recipe Inspiration...

OOoOoooo, the results are in from last month’s RawReform Giveaway contest...thanks be to all of you who sent in SUPER-YUMMY chia seed recipe suggestions – many of these recipes can now be seen HERE on the ‘RawReform Readers’ Recipes’ page.
The winner however, picked today at random and with joy, was Anna Merville, with this stunning-sounding chia concoction:

** Raspberry Chocolate Chia Pudding **

2 Cups Soaked Chia Seeds (soaked overnight)
1
Handful of organic Raspberries (about 5oz.)
1 Tbsp. of raw organic Cacao Powder

1 Tbsp. of raw organic Maca Root Powder
2 Tbsp. of organic raw Yacon Syrup

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth. Scoop pudding in a small dessert bowl. Add a few leaves of mint as a garnish and ENJOY!

Phew, Anna, one TABLESPOON of maca, with one TABLESPOON of cacao AND CHIA??? Ooooo lalalalaaaaa – that sounds like pure aphrodisiac-energy-burst manna, to me... ;) Love that it’s low glycemic too ;)
CONGRATULATIONS Anna :) Thanks for sharing YOUR chia-inspired yumminess ;) Your goodies of a ‘Chia Cheat Sheet Chart’, 1lb bag of chia seeds and a bag of 'Chia Goodness' cereal are on their way to you ;) ENJOY :)

Have you ever noticed how many LEOs there are in the raw food movement...? In my travels and connections as a raw foodie it often seems to me like a noteworthy number of the raw-inclined are born in the sign of the lion, myself included ;) Must be all that SUN energy drawing us forward I guess, either that, or maybe it’s just my personal leo-radar drawing my attention to them all... ;) lol...check it out sometime when you’re at raw gatherings – see how many people are leos and lemme know if you see the same pattern ;)
So, today happens to be the birthday of raw leo guys David Wolfe and Glen Colello (who runs Catch a Healthy Habit Café in CT, where Mr Monarch will actually be speaking next week, on August the 14th more details HERE). Happy Birthday guys :)
Other raw leos include Dhrumil, Markus Rothkranz, Roz Gruben (apparently we have the same birthday: August the 10th), Reuben (Kate Magic’s son), Evie (Shazzie’s daughter), my wonderful editor Sue, my dear friends Zoe and Lizzy and countless others I’ve met along the way... (my grandfather and grandmother were incidentally also both leos - they weren't raw though... ;)
Mmmm, hear the raw leos RAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRR ;) BIG yummy birthday-time love vibes to the raw leos in all our lives...

Have you ever seen the magical raw food magazine ‘Purely Delicious’?
I LOVE it. It’s made with masses of love by the sublime Anna Tipps in Texas and the Summer 2008 issue if out NOW. This issue includes an article on Raw Food Weight Loss featuring myself and dear Mr. McCluskey, plus articles on ‘The Truth about Protein’, ‘Wonderful Water’, book and restaurant reviews, a nut-free summer recipe section and lots more... The magazine is BEAUTIFULLY presented and subscriptions are a snip at just $25 for a year (for those in contintental US) or $45 for 2 years. You can check it out and order your copies HERE.

ENJOY :)
All love,

  3. I am just curious if you tried out Anna's recipe...how it made you feel. I have tried maca, but not sure what to think of it. I think I bought good quality maca (Royal Botanical or some such), but it seems to affect the hormonal balance of my body in an undesirable way. So, I know you do well with maca, but I was just wondering if you had actually tried this recipe and if it is good to have so much of everything in there. (And I am definitely a more is better person....)

  4. Update to my maca comment...because everyone loves maca so much, I tried it again, and found, that after an initial adjustment period, my body now handles maca just fine, and I now can and do use larger quantities of maca and I find it really does give my body a nice lift. My favorite use of maca is in my green smoothies that I have for breakfast everyday.

  5. Having a chia seed recipe contest is such a cool idea! I'm really sad I missed out on this, as I've got a chocolate chip chia cookie that's an absolute knockout. It became the insta-favorite in the condo.

Will you have another posting of something like this in the future? This one had such great ideas on it and I'd love to contribute if you do!
