The Continuum Concept :)

I am thrilled to say that Mr. Monarch and I finished reading the amazing book 'The Continuum Concept' by Jean Liedloff today. WOW. If you haven't read this book yet, which discusses the profound impact on health and well–being of carrying babies around CONTINUOUSLY for the first eight or so months of their lives, I HIGHLY, highly recommend you check it out.
This book was actually first brought to my attention about 6 years ago and it took me all this time to get round to reading it...I'm SO glad I did :) As a quote says on the front of the book "If the world could be saved by a book, this just might be the book."
Liedloff lived for a number of years among 'stone age' native people in South America and the contrasts she noted in the health, vibrancy, joy and well–being between the people there and in our 'civilised' society were enormous. She captured the main differences in this book and offers suggestions for how we might get back to a similar state of simpler, healthier living...the MAIN suggestion she offers along these lines is the absolutely CRITICAL point of carrying/wearing babies during their formative first few months/year.
Liedloff gives harrowing examples in the text outlining the ways in which most children in our societies are left alone to cry in cribs, totally separate from their mother or anyone else, for hours on end. The devastating sense of abandonment, loneliness and pain that these babies feel without any real way to discharge their energy field and so little skin-to-skin nourishment impacts most people in our societies for the rest of our lives... In stark contrast to this bleak start in life, Liedloff relays how children in the tribal culture are always carried, welcomed and fully involved in the society and grow into loving, co–operative, independent, social, dependable people.
This is truly a remarkable book and one that shares 'ancient wisdom' that seems so obvious when one reads it – of course it makes sense to treat baby humans this way, instead of leaving them alone in 'plastic boxes', in boxey rooms with no fresh air, to cry themselves to sleep... Just like reading about the idea of eating raw food might logically lead to an 'ah–HAH' ;) moment for many people, this book opens out a whole other area of life for our society to re–consider...I am SO grateful to have read this book prior to bringing children into this world...(and again, no, I am not pregnant or intending to start having children anytime soon – we are very interested in 'conscious parenting' though ;)
If you'd love to check out this amazing book, you can do so HERE – I would LOVE to see even more people enjoying this book and passing on this critical message and life practice...

on September the 27th I loved:

1 quart water
1.5 cups greeeeeen juice: celery, cucumber, spinach, romaine, cilantro
bowl of YUMMMMMMMMY coconut–durian 'pie' made by the ingenious Mr. Monarch, by blending together coconut meat, Irish Moss, freeze–dried durian, sunflower lecithin and lucuma – WOW :)
1 quart water
2 apples with spirulina crunchies and bee pollen
3 cups water

on September the 28th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
3 cups greeeeeeeeen juice: celery, parsley, romaine, fennel, spinach
bowl of energy soup with half an orange bell pepper, followed by half a Jake's Unbaked Goji Bar and a little pecan butter – YUMMMMM :)
1 quart water
2 apples with spirulina crunchies and bee pollen
1.5 cups goji juice with Marine Phytoplankton
2 cups water

I am currently further thrilled at the fact that I seem to be able to read in moving vehicles these days without getting motion sick...I read the whole of The Continuum Concept out loud in the car, these last few days. This is very interesting to me, as prior to being raw/the last few years, I would get VERY motion sick if I tried to read in cars. Interestingly, Jean Liedloff actually mentions in The Continuum Concept that many issues such as motion sickness, seasickness, vertigo and so on seem to be CULTURAL in many ways - apparently these kinds of conditions are very rare among many indigenous/tribal communities worldwide...wow...I always say that for me, eating raw is all about coming more into alignment with nature and my true being...well, maybe that has also now shifted to remove motion sickness from my being ;) Or maybe it's just that I've been on the road for so many years now that my body is just accustomed to being in motion and can handle anything on the move ;) Whatever the cause, I'm very excited to now be able to read on the very lengthy journeys we experience most days on the road - I actually now kinda enjoy the car rides, as it means we get to access amazing books together, learn, ponder, share ever more...I think we've actually read about 10 books together in the last 2 weeks this way - FUN :)))

on September the 29th I was blissed with:

1 quart water
3 cups coconut water with Greener Grasses, Merlin's Elixir and Mucuna
pod of durian and a little bowl of blended pudding: durian/frozen blueberries/Irish Moss/Sunflower Lecithin/Lucuma Powder – YUMMM :)
1 quart water
2 apples with spirulina crunchies and bee pollen
3 cups water

on September the 30th I loved:

Reversing Diabetes with Dennis Banks :)

OoOoOooooo, I'm excited - you may recall that a few days ago we were visiting the wonderful Tree of Life healing centre in Arizona and I mentioned the amazing stories of reversing diabetes that are coming out of there at the moment. Well, we were extremely blessed to interview one of the current diabetes course attendees - none other than Mr. Dennis Banks, one of the founders of the American Indian Movement (AIM), activist, warrior, leader, mover-shaker and now raw foodie-diabetes-reverser-extraordinaire ;) I really loved the opportunity to interview Dennis and we ended up speaking for around 45 minutes. Mr. M just posted the series of videos with him to TheRawFoodWorld.tv and you can check all 5 vids out at the link below - I trust you enjoy this peek into Dennis' life and vision for reversing diabetes in Native communities nationwide...

on September the 25th I adored:

1 quart water
water of a young coconut blended with Greener Grasses, Merlin's Elixir and Mucuna
bowl of energy soup with flax crackers on the side and sample of jungle peanut butter, followed by an apple with a couple of Tbsp of Lucuma–Vanilla Coconut Crème
1 quart water
2 apples with bee pollen and spirulina crunchies
3 cups water

If you'd love to see some snaps of our Summer Solstice Raw Union wedding celebrations, Mr. Jeff Eichen has a lovely collection over HERE that he just recently sent us the link for...there's some great, unique pics in there - I especially love this one of us with our eyes closed ;)

on September the 26th I enjoyed:

1 quart water
2 apples with bee pollen and spirulina crunchies
3 cups water
juice of an orange
bowl of energy soup with blue–green coconut crisps, followed by an apple and a few Incan berries

LOVE this little quote sent to me recently via the lovely daily 'Gift for Today' emails from Hazelden:

"Every problem teaches us how to resolve it. If we can't see the solution, than we're not ready for it, and instead of sputtering vainly we should set that question aside and address ourselves to our appropriate tasks."

LOVE it - that has been the flow of my energy for years now and it helps me in countless situations to move on from whatever seems 'stuck', focus on smthg else that seems open to flow/possibility at that time and come back to the first issue later on, when the energy seems clearer...

With gushing torrents of joy and abundance,

LOVE this story one reader, Antonia, sent me yesterday about Walter Breuning, who is apparently the oldest man in the USA , having just celebrated his 113th birthday on Monday :)

He attributes his health and longevity to eating only twice a day and small amounts – read his story HERE on USAToday. This is fun for us to see, as Mr. M and I have been reading/exploring a lot recently around 'temperance' – Mr. M just wrote a great little article on this subject in his last newsletter in fact, called 'How to Live Over 100 Years Old' – you can read that HERE if you'd love to...

Here's to systematic undereating and enhanced longevity ;)

MMmmmmm, well, while we're on the subject of taking very little into the body, dear Ms. diva Dina from BellyBoxFitness.com has a very generous offer to extend to one of you lovelies out there, if it resonates for you.

Dina wants to GIVE AWAY a 3–week water fasting package at The Tanglewood Wellness Center in Panama (worth over $2000), to someone who really would love to heal a serious health challenge or is looking for radical shifts in their life.

The fast can be taken at any time – the center opens in rotations of a number of weeks 'on', then a number of weeks 'off' and you can take the three weeks whenever you like during the open sessions.

Now, I have never personally water–fasted and would not choose to undertake something like this myself, however I wanted to pass this message on, in case any of you out there would love to accept Dina's offer. She has been to the Tanglewood Center quite a few times before and bought this package to go again, before realising her heart isn't quite in it anymore to water fast herself. She decided that instead she'd love to give this package away to someone else. Here's what she wrote:

"The only requirement is that I want to give it to someone who really really wants it, has really researched water fasting, has a serious illness, health challenge or is looking for massive radical change in their life and has the will power and dedication to maintain health afterward. This is a serious fast - more extreme than a juice fast and I want them prepared into what they will enter into. I would like to help them understand what not to do once they have demonstrated they are familiar with this knowledge."

If YOU would love to connect with Dina about her offer, you can contact her on: dina (at) bellyboxfitness.com before November 15th, explaining WHY you would love to undertake this kind of water fast; please include a contact phone number.

Bright blessings to you all – we love you :)

All love,

Ms. Sto–Mo. xxx

Food and Money...

I've been thinking a lot recently about the connection between money and food in our societies. My sense is that as most people at this point usually BUY food, rather than pick it from somewhere for free, there is a STRONG connection in our collective consciousness between food and money. This seems to easily lead to situations where people don't want to 'waste' any food and perhaps end up eating more than the BODY actually requires, simply because that food was PAID for with money... Imagine the relationship wild animals have with food in contrast...imagine a zebra overeating 8lbs more grass than it actually requires because it 'bought' it from an antelope and hence feels compelled to use it... ;)
Here's a suggestion – if you find yourself in a situation where you're feeling compelled to 'finish something off', let's say a basket of peaches that are over–ripe...step back for a moment and ask yourself a few questions: 'am I actually hungry?', 'does my BODY want this food, or my mind?', 'is the main reason I want to eat this so that I don't feel it has been 'wasted'?' and so o
n...maybe also try imagining that you're in an ORCHARD of over–ripe peaches – would you feel compelled to eat them ALL? It is not your 'responsibility' to eat something just because it is ready to be eaten...nature (and industry) produces food in abundance all the time and you don't have to eat it all – lol ;) EVEN if you've paid for a portion of it with money – it is ok to let things go to the compost pile/back to the Earth without passing through your body first...

I wrote something along these lines in my book 'Raw Emotions' – I wanted to re–visit these ideas here today though, as I find this money–food connection so interesting and bizarre – the more I look at humans, the more curiosities there seem to be... ;)

I promised to share with you some more of the charming poems y'all sent in for last month's contest to win Sarma MeIngailis' new book 'Living Raw Food'.

Here is a choice little selection of three more of your acrostic love tomes to the beautiful raw goddess Sarma:

Succulent

Marie G.

––––––

Sarma, a noun derived from the Turkish verb sarmak, which means "wrapping" or "rolling". A name so perfect, it's karma.

A potent blend of business school, marketing smarts, raw ambition, and platinum blond hair.

Redefining raw, Sarma knows she's not selling food or virtue. She's selling fabulousness, glow, a luxury lifestyle. Sex in the City meets Whole Foods Market.

"Mostly raw food eating" she says--no guilt or apologies or crunchy self-righteousness. As Diane von Furstenberg says "I'm a vegetarian but admit that every now and then I want a slice of salami."

A girl who can concoct a spirulina cilantro smoothie and make drinking it look that sexy is talented indeed. Master Cleanse martinis anyone?

Oh my gosh...

New and fantastic experiences have now become a way of life!

Energy and

Love are in abundance now I've

Uncovered the special magic of raw food.

Nurturing The Mother...

Recently I received an 'SOS' message from two separate women on the same day, both feeling distraught about the same thing: the wonderful natural parenting magazine 'The Mother' from the UK is set to close down, without more support. These two women both felt this would be a HUGE loss in the world of natural parenting/lifestyles and were seeking out extra support for the magazine. I have since been in contact with the editor of the magazine - Veronika - and I've been registering subscriptions for various friends worldwide who are new or soon–to–be parents.

I truly feel the value of this magazine too – it has been around for many years and offers outstanding articles on conscious birthing/parenting, peaceful pregnancy, ecstatic natural/home births, breastfeeding, homeschooling and so on – it even has a regular raw food column :) The Mother magazine is currently being published 6 times a year and subscriptions can be sent anywhere in the world. If YOU too would love to support the vital message of this magazine, you can visit their site and sign up to receive the mag HERE...if not for yourself, then maybe there's a friend you feel would love to read these mags, or a local women's centre where this message might be well received? I sincerely hope that together we can keep The Mother flowing in her divine ways – I feel this is such a key message to keep in circulation...

I would LOVE to do this whole training with Elena sometime...the amount of life–shifting info I absorbed via this woman in just 2 days last weekend was phenomenal...and with I think around 27 years of experience in this field, she has SO much to share...if you haven't yet seen the six YouTube videos of Elena we put up on TheRawFoodWorld TV Show this week, I would thoroughly encourage checking those out at the links below – it's like accessing an hour's free download from the goddess of birthing – enjoy ;)
