Introducing: The RAWKATHON :)

INTRODUCING:
The Rawkathon:

A 7 Day, FREE Online Living & Raw Food Event

OOOooooo, fun new FREE raw food online event to play with :)
Do you remember the free Raw Summit programmes from a while back? Well, that cheeky Mr. Gianni's been at it again... Over the last month, he has been busy putting together a spangly new toy for us all to play with... Yes, it's time to meet: "The Rawkathon." ;)

Rather than audio interviews, this time Kevin has created a collection of candid, one-on-one VIDEO interviews with 15 of the top raw and living food yumsters on the planet and they'll be broadcast for us all to watch or listen to in a few short weeks, starting on October the 19th.
I'm sad to say that I was not able to join Mr. Gianni for an interview this time round, as I am still waiting for my Fiancee Visa for the US and could not get there to meet him ;( The Monarch did an interview though and we will also both be doing a phone interview at the end of the Rawkathon with Kevin, sometime around the end of October...more details to come... ;)

Just like with the Raw Summits, everyone can watch/listen to these Rawkathon interviews for free, then afterwards you can also purchase DVD packages of the interviews for future viewing/sharing...

So, here are more details of all the yummy speakers you can feast your eyes and ears on soon, from the Rawkathon site:

    Spreadin' the Word... ;)

OOooOooooo lalalalaaa…well, the epic CNN adventure continues ;) LOL – the RawReform main site is actually still down after being completely deluged with traffic the last few days (BIG thanks out to Kevin Gianni for helping us to get smthg back up online while the site is restored :). According to CNN, their piece on my weight loss was actually THE most viewed story on CNN yesterday, with over 1.3 million viewers :O
One of my old university friends, who now lives in the US, wrote to celebrate with me that this story “clearly surpasses even US politics during election year! GO GIRL!!!” LOL – FUN :) I LOVE seeing the simple concept of humans eating raw food going ‘mainstream’ like this...yeeeeeeeeeeee-HAH...
Amidst this media mayhem, the Monarch and I were also fortuitous enough this weekend to attend and speak at the uber-vibrant Festival of Life in London. YUMMINESS. Thanks to ALL of you who packed yourselves into our talks and came to say hello – hope you all enjoyed the day as much as we did... :) The venue was pulsating with raw energy, love and the pungent smell of durian ;) AMAZING to have SO many tuned-in, beautiful, conscious, loving individuals in the same space at once...add in outrageous amounts of raw chocolate to the equation and you’ve got an all-day, off-the-scale party of vibrancy and joy – how blessed we are ;)

on September the 26th I had:

    1 quart water
    2 cups ‘wild power’ tea
2 cups veggie juice: celery, cucumber, carrots & carrot greens, ginger, spinach
2 cups energy soup with flax crackers on the side, followed by a square of durian ice cream and a little raw chocolate
    1 quart water
2 cups veggie juice: celery, cucumber, carrots & carrot greens, ginger, spinach
    2 cups orange juice
    2 cups water

While we’re on the subject of yummy raw events, here are some more upcoming choice places to jingle your raw jangles:

The Monarch and I will be speaking on raw food yumminess from 7pm – details HERE.

on September the 27th I had:

    water of 2 young coconuts
    glass of green juice
    2 cups water
¾ of a fresh durian, followed by a few different raw chocolate yummables and 2 fresh figs – WOW ;)

on September the 28th I had:

    1.5 quarts water
2 cups veggie juice: celery, cucumber, carrots with greens, spinach, lettuce, ginger
2 cups energy soup with flax crackers, followed by tastings of lime/coconut cheesecake and chocolate cheesecake, left over from the Festie of Life
    1 quart water
    2 cups 'wild power' tea

I’d love to share another amazing ‘healthy eating’ story that our friend Paul Nison recently posted to his blog. I think this is SO cool and encourage you to go and check it out in full HERE on Paul’s blog ‘The Raw Life’…
The story is about a friend of Paul’s called Bernando LaPallo, who is 107 YEARS OLD and looks...about 60-smthg, never gets ill and according to Paul:

“...eats only organic fruits and vegetables, fish and a homemade juice he makes fresh everyday for himself and his wife of 47 years, Georgette.
LaPallo’s dark face has hardly any wrinkles and his black hair has just specks of gray.
He still drives, has his original teeth and doesn’t wear a hearing aid.
LaPallo rises at 5 a.m. daily to walk several times around a nearby park, taking off his shoes to walk in the grass.”

WOW – check out that picture of him – a living testimony to eating simple foods, straight from Mama Earth... :) The energy of Bernando reminds me of the description of Anastasia’s Grandfathers in the Ringing Cedars series of books...so inspiring :)

    All love,

CNN Traffic = RawReform Site down - sorry ;)

    Hey everyone,
    WELL...
CNN put up an article abt my weight loss story on their main site today - see HERE:
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/diet.fitness/09/26/weightloss.angela.stokes/index.html

WOW - thanks so much, CNN, for continuing to spread the word... :)
This coverage actually sent both my name and the search term 'Raw Food Diet' into the top ten 'Hot Trend' searches on Google today (see HERE)...the story was also the MOST VIEWED story in the Health section of CNN all day, shown on the front page of CNN.com... imagine, ALL these curious new minds investigating raw foods - YeEeeEeeeeeeee-HAH :))) How exciting...

Unfortunately, one consequence of the MASSIVE amount of traffic this sent to the RawReform site was that it temporarily tripped the server out and the main site is down - we have someone working on it...for now, if you'd like to read more about my story or take a look at any of my books, please click HERE...

Thanks for your patience while we get the site back up... ;)
    All blessings,
    Angela. xxx

I know some of you in Europe have been having issues viewing the clip on the CNN site – it’s actually now up on YouTube too, so you can see it HERE instead, if you like ;)
The piece will apparently be aired on TV again Friday morning around 8.30am Eastern US time, as well as a few repeats this weekend - so, watch out for that if you have TV ;)

Another ‘hot’ topic you’ll find summarised over at RawFoodRightNow is the current on-goings with the almond growers in the US, who are taking action against the USDA. We can ALL support the almond growers as they go to court against the USDA to overturn the ruling to ‘pasteurise’ all almonds. This lawsuit will be expensive for the farmers, who have mostly seen their family farm incomes destroyed by the pasteurisation mandate. If you would LOVE to support the farmers and get back to being able to easily buy raw almonds again at will, please visit the Cornucopia Institute’s website HERE and send along your donation towards this case.

    Almond-y love to all ;)
    Angelalalalaalaaaaaaa. xxx

(P.S. hope to see those of you in the UK at the Festival of Life this weekend in Londinium – see HERE for details – I’m scheduled to speak at 3pm and the Monarch at 5pm ;)

    Greens and Salads...

Quite a few of you have been writing in to ask about E3 Live, after I was drinking so much of it recently ;)
Well, simply put, it's an algae collected from Klamath Lake. E3 Live is a freshly frozen product: the algae is collected, bottled, frozen and shipped out to customers with cold packs...
Here's what I like about it: it’s nutrient-packed, a quick way to get smthg greeeeeen into your body without making veggie juice ;) (Can be great for any ‘reluctant relatives’, who might not be into preparing fresh green drinks...there are even new flavoured E3 Live bottles with agave, mint and so on, to make it more easy to slide down your greens ;) It's also GREAT supporting nourishment apparently for pregnant and nursing women, I hear...
People usually keep the bottle of E3 Live in their freezer, then transfer it to the fridge, let it defrost for a while, pour off enough of the defrosted liquid to drink for the next few days and replace the rest in the freezer for later (OR: defrost the whole thing, pour it out into ice cube trays and refreeze, so that whenever you want, you can pop out a little chunk of chlorophyll-rich goodness ;). That’s my quick summary - you can read all about E3 Live on our site HERE.

on September the 16th I had:

    1 quart water
    mug of blackberry tea
3 cups green juice: cucumber, celery, ginger, lime with a handful of fresh leafy greens from the garden: kale, lettuces, chard, nettles, dandelion, mint
2 cups ‘energy soup’ with coconut chips stirred in, followed by a little bowl of sweet yum: hazelnut butter, lucuma, maca and carob powders hand-blended with water
    3 cups water
glass of creamy green smoothie: almond milk, lucuma, maca, vitamineral green, vanilla, cinammon, with a square of goji-lemon-chocolate fudge – WOW :)
    2 cups water
    mug of ‘choco’ tea
    1 cup water

MmmMmmmmm, here’s an interesting possible opportunity for someone out there...would you LOVE to take a road trip soon, from Michigan to California...? Mr. Monarch is on the lookout for someone who would be excited to drive his Rav4 from Brighton, Michigan, back to Ojai, California, starting this Sunday, the 21st. Mr. M. will be speaking at the Midwest Living Foods EcoFest this Saturday in Brighton, Michigan and then would be delighted to hand his car keys over to someone else who can drive over to Cali, while he sets off for Canada...does this sound like an adventure YOU’D love to co-create? Well, if so, then email me at angela@rawreform.com and we’ll get you hooked up with some wheels ;) Yeeeeeeeeee-HAH ;)

on September the 17th I had:

    1 quart water
3 cups green juice: cucumber, celery, handful of fresh greens from the garden, ginger, lime

    3 cups water
2 cups green juice: cucumber, celery, followed by another cup of mystery green juice ;)
6 gorgeous Italian plums straight from the tree
    2 cups water

on September the 18th I had:

    1 quart water
2 cups green juice: cucumber, celery, handful of fresh greens from the garden, ginger, lime

2 cups veggie juice: cucumber, celery, carrots, kale, romaine lettuce, ginger

WOW – I have just been watching a comedian on You Tube who had me laughing so hard I was crying...his name is Jim Gaffigan and I was just introduced to him this evening by the uber-delicious Rainosheks, who I have the divine fortune to be visiting at the moment in the Gulf Islands... I know nothing more abt Mr. Gaffigan other than that I find his musings on modern food very very amusing – below is a clip of him talking about salad. Check out his other videos on cake, vegetarians, lactose intolerance and...cinnabons...lol...love it – ENJOY :)

    Simply Raw Bliss ;)

WOW – a couple of nights ago we watched the new ‘Simply Raw’ DVD, which follows 6 diabetics as they reverse this condition naturally, with raw food, at the Tree of Life centre in Arizona. I was SOOOOOOO happy to finally see this documentary – it has been a long time coming and it was definitely worth the wait ;)
I found myself nodding my head, laughing out loud, exclaiming ‘YES’, ‘WOW’ and so on countless times throughout the 90-minute presentation. It is SO gratifying and exciting to see six people who have all been told that they will be ‘on their medication for life’ not only COME OFF all allopathic meds, but also lose weight, shift through emotional stumbling blocks, get more physically active and start SHINING with healthy skin and eyes...in just 30 days...
I am very excited to see the impact this film will have in the world...diabetes is at pandemic levels now and this film clearly shows how easily it CAN be reversed, if people are willing to let go of that ever-sticky relationship to processed ‘foods’ and eat more simply, moving more into alignment with nature...
There is a fabulous part at the end of the film where one of the participants goes back to her home community and visits her doctor there, who is so bowled over by her recovery that he announces smthg along the lines of ‘wow – how do we ship ALL of my patients out to Arizona for treatment?’. LOVE it ;) I sit here grinning just relaying this story – OoooOoOooo it’s so exciting when people get the message and pass it on – love it, love it, love it... You can get hold of a copy of Simply Raw HERE to enjoy for yourself and hopefully share with many loved ones (after all, who DOESN’T know someone dealing with diabetes or obesity...? ;) Gabriel Cousens also released the accompanying book ‘There is a Cure for Diabetes’ recently, which would surely be another very wise investment for anyone currently dancing with diabetes issues ;) You can see that book HERE.
ALL blessings for the amazing, unfolding healing of all ;)

on September the 14th I had:

    1 quart water
1 quart veggie juice: celery, cucumber, kale, lettuce, zucchini, carrot juice
2 cups green smoothie: peaches, spinach, lettuce, water
    handful of blackberries
a little avocado with a yellow bell pepper, dulse seaweed and a little sunflower seed pate, followed by a little bowl of hazelnut butter mixed with lucuma powder, maca powder and carob powder
    1 quart water
    1.5 tbsp wheatgrass powder
tbsp of yummy mixture: almond butter with lucuma and carob powders
    3 cups water

As those of you who shop at the RawReform Store may know, we are extremely blessed to have a WONDERFUL customer service rep named Lindsey :) ...and if you were at Raw Spirit Fest this weekend in Arizona, you may well have met the lovely Lindsey at our booth :) Recently she sent through this great quote – thought I’d pass it on – very sweet ;)
THANKS, Lindsey, we love you :)

"One farmer says to me, 'You cannot live on vegetable food solely, for it furnishes nothing to make bones with'; and so he religiously devotes a part of his day to supplying his system with the raw material of bones; walking all the while he talks behind his oxen, which, with vegetable-made bones, jerk him and his lumbering plough along in spite of every obstacle."
~Henry David Thoreau, Where I Lived And What I Lived For.

on September the 15th I had:

    1 quart water
2.5 cups green juice: cucumber, ginger and lemon with all kinds of greens straight from the garden: kale, chard, lettuces, cabbage, dandelion, nettles, mint – WOW ;)
2 cups energy soup with coconut chips stirred in and a flax cracker on the side, followed by a little bowl of hazelnut butter mixed lucuma, carob and maca powders
    3 cups water
fresh fruit picked straight from the garden: raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and Italian plums
    2 cups water

I am feeling SO blessed right now...I am back in Victoria, BC, staying with the family of the gorgeous Katrina Rainoshek, whose equally-yummable sister Heather has just recently opened a raw café here, called Café Bliss (very appropriately named – I’ll be speaking there this Wednesday, the 17th – details HERE ;).
This house and garden where I’ve been welcomed to stay are AMAZING: a living, loving, vibrant food forest and I am SO enjoying it...nothing compares to walking out into the garden barefoot, gathering nutrient-packed, organic, loved-up greens by hand with gratitude and then welcoming them into my body...today I also had a meal of fresh seasonal fruits, straight from the bushes/trees – absolutely DIVINE...this is EXACTLY the kind of set-up I was envisioning when I wrote last time about how wonderful it will be to go out for a walk and all around you are ‘domains’ of lush edible gardens... Well, this is one family who are definitely living the dream already and I am very grateful to share this beautiful space with them for a few days – thanks, guys :)

    Gorilla Food for All ;)

Hmmmmm...my recent trip to the totally abundant ‘Two EEs’ organic farm here in BC led my thought patterns down some interesting paths...my musings went smthg like this (bear with me ;):
My impression is that most people seem to have very strong emotional connections to food (as you’ll know if you’ve read my book ‘Raw Emotions’ ;) and many people seem to eat far in excess of their PHYSICAL body’s need for fuel. Visiting Two EEs farm helped to open a different perspective on all this for me, as I imagined how it would be if organic, loved-up, healthy food was available like this ALL OVER the place (inexpensively like here, or indeed, at no financial cost). I get the sense that if food was this abundantly available everywhere, people may relax a LOT more about where their food is coming from and ultimately may start also eating less, as there would be less of an underlying sense of ‘scarcity’ and much more of a connection to the food source.
My impression is that most humans are SO disconnected from their food supply chain at this point that this has created some kind of EXPECTATION that food comes from ‘somewhere else’ – i.e. it's grown by someone else, somewhere else. I sense that this ‘un-natural distancing’ of peoples’ relationship to their food source actually creates a feeling of stress for humans, that is unprecedented among the other animals (albeit at a subtle level perhaps, rather than smthg that is discussed or even recognised ;).
This ‘stress’ also seems SO widespread with humans as to be considered ‘normal’. It is ‘normal’ for people to work in jobs they don’t really enjoy, to be given pieces of paper (money), to take to a brightly-lit place where foodstuff has been collected together in various forms, where they exchange the pieces of paper for this ‘food’ and scurry on in the cycle, perhaps simultaneously fretting about the current cost of beans or smthg similar... ;)
I also sense that this ‘stress’ can contribute greatly to overeating issues for some, as any simple connection to food as readily available fuel has faded away. Rather than feeling surrounded by easy choices and abundance, there seems to be more of an underlying, subtle notion in the collective consciousness that food is in some way ‘scarce’ and something one is required to work in a system for, rather than simply collect and enjoy. I sense that part of the overeating patterns we can commonly see in humans is a response to this feeling that food is in some way 'restricted'/hard to come by...
Economics plays a huge part in over-eating too I believe. Most humans seem to be SO identified with money and if we PAY something for some food, there is often the feeling that we MUST then eat it. Whereas, if we were living surrounded by all kinds of edibles for free/very cheap all the time, we might well relax a lot more, plus let more food go back to the Earth without first passing it through our bodies. We would perhaps then feel released from any nagging feeling that we NEED to eat it...

When there is the possibility that this distant source of food from 'somewhere else' is dwindling (as with the current ‘food crisis’), people seem even more concerned abt who/where their food is coming from and the energy tightens even more. It is as if people don’t fully realise, or are unwilling to embody the reality, that they CAN feed themselves – they can grow their own food and eat it. The overbearing assumption seems to be that ‘food comes from somewhere else, it is smthg I BUY’...yet, doesn’t that seem odd, when viewed this way? No other animal approaches the basic need of taking in fuel for the physical body in this way...

Compare this way of life/relationship to food with the scenes described in the Anastasia books (if you’ve read them…;) In those books, we can read how people in the Siberian forest live simply, straight from nature, on nuts, berries and so on...There appears to be VERY little or no emotional attachment to food...then there are the fascinating sections outlining life on ‘kins domains’, where each family, settled on a hectare of land, is growing their own food. Imagine how much more relaxed EVERYTHING can be in that context, when people are happily living on a plot of land big enough to provide for themselves, while all around, they’re surrounded in all directions by other people who are living in equally abundant, lush garden properties...imagine going out for a walk and not feeling the need to bring a cooler bag of raw foods with you, because you KNOW there is fresh food everywhere, that you might be able to share ;) lol... We could contrast that with a ‘modern’ scene of two people living on the 30th floor of an apartment block eating tinned food and watching a news story on TV about the ‘food crisis’...hmmmmmm...which would YOU rather be living...? ;) I know where I’d like to be...and of course, even if you ARE in that 30th floor apartment right now, there are ALWAYS choices – sprout, grow sunflower/buckwheat greens, find an allotment/community garden to work in and so on...grow your own freedom and step away from any lingering paradigm of ‘scarcity’... ;)
Hmmmm, well, I hope that outpouring made sense/resonated for some of you, or jingled some jangles for someone out there... ;) LOL - feel free to leave comments/musings of your own... ;)

For those of you in the UK who are seeking some inspiration for your raw culinary journey...I would whole-heartedly recommend you trot along to enjoy the company of the divine Lara and Shell at Manna in Brighton next Saturday (20th of September), for their ‘Raw Creativity’ Workshop :) You’ll learn lots of practical, useful skills and recipes to use as a solid foundation for your raw food explorations...those gorgeous lassies will be showing you how to prepare:

Lara and Shell are truly sweetness incarnate :) They also make absolutely incredible edibles – some of you in the US may recognise Lara as the chef who provided food demos on a tour the Monarch and myself did a while back on the west coast :) Lara = hugs, glitter, turquoise things, big smiles, happiness, truth and simple, amazing raw food. I’ve honestly never eaten ONE dish made by Lara that I haven’t enjoyed – she’s amazing (she and her partner Matt ran the wonderful Funky Raw Festie in Sussex this year :)
You may also recognise Shelbel from her beautiful blog ‘therawkitchen’ and she also did a fantastic job of heading up the catering at Funky Raw this year. My summary is that Shell = more big smiles & happiness, clarity, sincerity, giggles, lush gardening and some of the most DELECTABLE raw cakes you’ll ever get your gnashers at...
So, check out their website HERE: www.therawkitchen.co.uk for more details of the event on Sept the 20th, from 11am-5pm at Manna Café in Brighton and...enjoy :)

WOW – we visited the new Gorilla Food raw restaurant in Vancouver, BC yesterday – YUMMMMMY :) It is AMAZING to see the beautiful space Aaron Ash has created here now...when we were visiting the area last year, Aaron was enthusiastically serving his delicious raw creations from a literal hole-in-the-wall in downtown Vancouver (see pics, courtesy of Ellen ;). From one room (probably about 4 x 6 ft), he was serving up raw pizzas, smoothies, cakes, burgers and so on, through a window onto the street ;) LOL...it was very cosy and a great stepping-stone onwards to the GORGEOUS place he’s now in.
LOVE it...the new venue is just a few doors up from the last, on the same street and is a colourful basement area fitted out with beautiful wooden décor. Paintings by local artists hang on the walls, the room bustles with satisfied customers and the young, gracious staff fulfill orders with love and smiles, to a chilled soundtrack of reggae music. Yummy ;) We enjoyed the falafel and burger, along with peach cobbler and a supreme cacao/hemp pie for dessert.
It’s SO delightful to see how this business has blossomed in the last year – all blessings to Aaron and the rest of the Gorilla team for the journey onwards from here...
If you’re in the Vancouver area, Gorilla Food is actually taking orders for our talk next weekend – NICE :) If you’d love to come along to the event and have some delicious munchies to enjoy too, then please contact RawBC via EMAIL or by phone: 778-737-8852 for more info ;)
    See you there...

The BEST organic food prices I've ever found... ;)

SOOooOOoOoooo, I’m on the GORGEOUS west coast of Canada now and in terms of upcoming events, I have some potentially happy or sad news, depending on your perspective, location and interests ;)
It seems highly unlikely now that I am going to be able to attend any of the upcoming raw festies in the US in the next few weeks, as we’re still waiting for my US Fiancee Visa and I cannot enter the US until that process is over... I am SOOOO sad to not be there again in person this year at the Raw Spirit Festival :( I would so very much love to be able to share with everyone there...well, I’m sure Mr. Monarch will at least hook me up there by Skype again, like last year ;)
...aaaaaaaand...I will instead be doing a couple of talks here on the west coast of Canada in the coming days.
Firstly, I speak next Wednesday, the 17th of September in the yummy raw Café Bliss in Victoria BC, from 7.30pm – see HERE for more details.
Then on Sunday the 21st of September, BOTH the Monarch and I speak in Vancouver, from 2.30pm – more details HERE.
We hope to meet you at one of these marvellous events in the coming weeks, if you’re around these parts...ENJOY :)

on September the 8th I had:

    1 quart water
    masses of E3 Live
1 cup energy soup with coconut chips stirred in, followed by a little raw chocolate
    3 cups water
    masses more E3 Live
1 cup energy soup with coconut chips stirred in, followed by a tsp of goji powder – yummmm ;)
    3 cups water

WOW. I am feeling SO blessed right now. I’m staying with my lovely raw foodie photographer/traveler friend Ellen near Vancouver and yesterday we went to visit an amazing local organic farm called ‘Two EEs’. We went first to the farm itself, where Ellen was shooting some pictures (here’s one of me in the bountiful, beautiful kale fields ;). I was in absolute BLISS out in the sun, picking fresh wild blackberries from the bushes, on this peaceful, abundant plot, surrounded in all directions by flourishing organic crops – WOW :)
We then went to visit their nearby store, where they have all their produce out for sale. WOW. I have never seen ANYWHERE like this, in all my travels. I was totally blown away by the abundance, variety and incredibly reasonable prices. The stands are PACKED with huge, healthy vibrant, certified organic greens, at usually unheard-of prices, like 89 cents for a HUGE bunch of certified organic kale, 79 cents for lettuces, field cucumbers at 69cents each and so on :O :O :O What is HAPPENING here...????
I was totally totally totally in awe of this place. As I said, I’ve literally never seen anywhere like it...and what was SO beautiful to see was that so many of the clientele appeared to be fairly ‘mainstream’ people, who perhaps didn’t even REALISE they were getting CERTIFIED organic produce at jaw-dropping prices – how beautiful is that? People dropping by and stocking up on masses of healthy fresh produce simply because it seems ‘cheap’ – and actually receiving amazing nutrient value at the same time. I LOVE it :)
I got 2 HUGE, packed boxes of food – leafy greens, cucumbers, celery, beetroots, carrots, zucchini, bell peppers, peaches and so on, for $32 ;O :O :O (Yes, for those of you in the UK, that is around £16 – can you IMAGINE getting all your fruit/veggies for a WEEK for that amount???)
I’m thinking that it would be worthwhile someone living in this area just to get their produce from this amazing farm, if you’re not into growing your own stuff ;) LOL...or to do a Juice Feast – WOW – where else could you get SUCH an amazing variety of organic foods for so little cash? Amazing…of course, I have no idea how much they have available in the winter here – for now at least though, I am LOVING Two EEs Farm ;) You can see their website HERE – ENJOY :)

on September the 9th I had:
    1 quart water
3 cups green juice: celery, cucumber, parsley, kale
a yellow bell pepper with a little sauerkraut
    an ear of fresh corn
a huge handful of fresh blackberries straight from the bushes
    3 cups water
3 cups ‘energy soup’ with coconut chips stirred in and sauerkraut and flax crackers on the side, followed by a few goji berries
    2 cups water

    Simply RAW :)))

SO, we’re in Ottawa right now, where we’ve been enjoying the yumminess of the Simply Raw Festival. FUN :) It rained like CRAAAAAAZY here the first day of the festival and today we were blessed with gorgeous sun and masses of visitors to this AMAZING free raw food event. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I LOVE the work Natasha and Mark from Simply Raw carry out. They have graciously hosted this free festival every year for the last 3 years and they do SUCH a beautiful job, with SO much love, heart, presence and commitment. Absolutely gorgeous service in action to the raw food message ;) LOVE it...and what a GORGEOUS festie this has been...great speakers, great booths, great crowd, great food. Such a vibrant, fun celebration...we are SO blessed ;)
Just imagine if free raw food events like this were happening all over the place :O It was so amazing to stand at our booth and see people literally wandering into the festival off the street, who seemed to have had NO exposure to raw foods before at all...of course, this inevitably led to being asked ‘the protein question’ a few times more often than usual, LOL ;) It’s all part of the game though and we were delighted to share all that we could. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth and thanks as well to everyone who came along to our talks...we had great fun meeting you all :) I’ve uploaded a few pics from the event to Flickr – you can see those HERE (and to the right you can see a pic of myself and those gorgeous Raw Divas Amy and Tera ;)

OoooOoooo, we were SO excited to visit an amazing eco-fabric boutique here in Ottawa today, called ‘Adorit’ at 159 York Street, with gorgeous organic cotton and bamboo clothes along with reclaimed fabrics and fair-trade goodies from around the world. The shop is run by a super-yummy raw-licious young couple called Lucas and Emma – you can see a little about their store on their site HERE (at the moment though their site mostly covers their fair-trade work with people in Tibet). My favourite two other WONDERFUL online eco-clothing resources I’ve come across recently are:

Adili (HUGE online eco-store in the UK)
White Apricot (Equally enormous and fabulous US online eco-store)

I am SO excited how many more eco-friendly clothing options seem to become available all the time now – we live in such exciting times ;)

If you subscribe to the lovely Jinjee’s ‘Daily Raw Inspiration’ emails, you will have seen this message from her recently about the TV programme her beautiful troupe of raw vegan children have been creating, called ‘The Kidz’. They have posted the whole of the first episode onto YouTube for everyone to enjoy – I think this is SO cool :) The children made the WHOLE show themselves and they would love to make more - here’s how Jinjee described the project in her message:

“...a show that conscious parents can enjoy with their kids, as well as a show that is vibrant and green enough to entertain indigo children! If you like it, if your children like it, sign up and inspire us to make more episodes of this series at http://www.TheGardenDiet.com/morekidz

Here is the free Youtube version of Episode 1 of The Kidz, - Journey to Seal Island
    : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWgYt0Sp1HE

You'll see our children, Raven, Jome, Shale and Adagio, in their first acting roles, playing four kids who set sail on their own nature adventures! You'll see them hiking, foraging, sailing, and fighting! You'll see sea elephants up close! You'll see Storm and Jinjee in their home office.
