Re-forming Our World :)

WOW, thanks so much everyone for all the amazing feedback about the Raw Prison Reform ideas :) Seems like this strikes a chord of interest for many of you too...one reader, Jan, even sent in a link to a WONDERFUL short newspaper article from Texas, where a prison in Collin County has started to grow its own food, in response to escalating food costs. WONDERFUL :)
CLICK HERE to read the article in full – here’s my favourite part of the article, starting with a quote from one of the inmates on his thoughts about growing food:

'"It's interesting to see where it comes from instead of just buying it at the grocery store," Scalf said.

That is where Collin County is
saving money. The jail grows their own fruits and vegetables on 40 acres of land.

"It's a tool we use to control behavior," said Lt. Terry McCraw. "When you are feeding them fresh fruits or corn on the cob or cantalope or watermelon, it helps behavior. If you eat good food, you are happier."'

YES, exactly – oooooooo, I find this all so exciting...let’s see where this goes... ;) Thanks for the inspiring link, Jan :)

on July the 18th I had:

3 cups water

Mr Monarch is now here enjoying the delights of Iceland too :) He arrived a few days ago and has, naturally, been loving the clean fresh air and water too...we speak in Reykjavik tomorrow (Wednesday the 23rd) at the Rope Yoga Studio at Engjateigur 19, starting 7pm – hope to see you there if you’re in this area ;) It seems like it’s going to be a very full house – FUN. We’re excited to meet everyone and share... :)
With all the geothermal energy available in this country, there is SUCH massive potential for growing fruits and veggies year-round in geo-thermally heated and powered greenhouses here...I think it’s very exciting; time for Iceland to go RAW on a massive scale, perhaps...? lol – hmmmmm, we’ll see...it’s a bit of a switch in lifestyle from the traditional burnt sheeps’ heads, putrefied shark and heavy dairy products... ;)

Yesterday one reader, Lynn, sent me the extended video of the story on YouTube – ahhhhhhhhhhhh, it is SOOO beautiful to me...you can check it out at the link below...I don’t think I’ve met anyone yet who hasn’t found themselves streaming tears of joy by the end of this...ENJOY :)

Some Raw Food Reflections...
Mother Nature provides us with raw food, direct from the earth…all the other land-dwelling animals eat what they like/thrive on, then defecate back onto the land the remains, including seeds and so on, to help further the proliferation of species. What do most humans do, in comparison? Well…we take that food from the earth, we process it, steam it, grind it, ‘refine’ it, distill it, boil it, bake it, bottle it, package it and sell it to each other. Humans eat this stuff…THEN we flush our bizarre feces full of Franken-food chemicals and sludge into the ocean, as if we’re trying to hide the suspicious packages of evidence from Mother Earth, who is perhaps wondering where all the nutrients from the land went and what this peculiar species is up to… :O ??? LOL…really…it is totally absurd when you look at it that way…what ARE we doing…? We are given all that we truly thrive on, direct from this land, this planet…and yet we complicate things in the most farcical manner to astonishing levels…it seems if you ask most people if they would prefer to live a simpler life, they give an emphatic ‘YES’ and yet, when it comes to eating simpler FOOD, from a simpler food supply chain…well, that’s a different matter…most of our societies simply aren’t embracing of that model yet…people aren’t accustomed to it…they don’t know where to begin…as ironic as it is, pre-packaged ‘fast-foods’ seem to appeal to most as simpler than eating food straight from the Earth…they can just grab a sandwich at a deli and get on with things…this may seem ‘simpler’ and yet, it belies the complications and processes that have gone into the creation of that sandwich…the processing of the wheat, the baking of bread, the resource-intensive raising and slaughtering of the animals that were made into that meat, the miles that lettuce travelled to get to the deli, the toxins that were released into the atmosphere from the production of that plastic sandwich box…is this really simplicity…??? Yet most of our societies are not yet well set-up to help people reach out easily for raw food alternatives…I am excited to think of how things will look perhaps 20 years from now, when delicious raw food eateries abound in all places and it DOES seem easy and convenient for people to reach out and eat truly simple foods…or gourmet raw foods even, for that matter…throw in a few compost toilets for good measure, so that we give back to the EARTH instead of into the oceans and wow…we might be somewhere near looking not so entirely insane… ;)
(Please note – the current situation with raw almonds in California is, for me, a clear case of this ‘insanity’ run wild – if you haven’t heard the latest, this looks set to be the last week in which truly raw almonds may be produced in the US…the move to pasteurize all almonds is due to go through on September the 1st…eeeeeeek…hmmm…what to do…??? See http://www.cornucopia.org/ for action that can taken TODAY to help show vehement disapproval of this plan…)

'Passion for Paradise'...;)

On September the 1st I’m going to be speaking in London at the fabulous Festival of Life raw food/permaculture/vibrant living festie. I’m excited – it’s going to be a wonderful weekend. I speak on Saturday afternoon at 5pm and Matt will be there speaking too – at 3pm. I believe this is the fourth year of this wonderful gathering (perhaps 3rd...)– wow – it seems amazing to me that it was 3 or 4 years ago now that I first attended this event, as a visitor... It absolutely blew me away – I was in awe – it was the first raw gathering of its kind I’d been to and spending the whole day living, learning and eating among a crowd of so many like-minded beings was SUCH an amazing experience to me… One of the things I love so much about this festie is that it’s so affordable for people – entrance is just £12 for the whole weekend and all talks, sessions, food demos and so on are free once you’re in…there will be stalls, incredible raw food, yoga, music, dance and MASSES of vibrant joy…hope to see you there ;)

On August the 20th I had:

1.5 litres water
300ml warm water with lemon juice
1 litre ‘garden’ juice
1 box of blueberries
handful of mulberries and 3 tsp green powder
big green salad with avo, dulse, fresh tomato/garlic sauce, sprouts and sauerkraut
1 litre water
1 large papaya
1 litre water

I’ve stopped using deodrant. LOL…I love it…many raw foodists of course choose not to use any deodorants, or just something simple like lemon juice…well, after dabbling all over the ‘natural’ deodorants section of health food stores for the last few years, I’ve kind of lost interest…my body pretty much doesn’t produce that much odour anymore anyway – only when I’m detoxing something rough, like cracao…so, the deo’s become kind of…redundant…I’m enjoying this new experience – it feels like another happy step onwards into simplicity for me…I still OWN a deodrant stick and use it from time-to-time…overall though, my pits are mainly breathing free and easy these days…I’ve also started to sprout and regularly eat fenugreek sprouts, which have apparently traditionally been used in India for regulating body odour for generations…hmmmmm…interesting…have you TRIED fenugreek sprouts???…WOW, they smell and taste SO great to me…and are, of course, also happily packed with enzymes and nutrients…yummmm ;)

on August the 21st I had:

1.5 litres water
300ml warm water with lemon juice
150ml orange/grapefuit juice
700ml cucumber/celery/romaine/carrot juice
3 persimmons blended with 4tbsp of ground chia, with a handful of mulberries swirled in
500ml rooibos tea
500ml water
green smoothie of pear, romaine, spirulina, water and gojis
500ml water
greens/avo/dulse/sauerkraut/sprouts salad with fresh tomato sauce and hemp seeds
1 litre water

I went rock-pooling one day recently, when the weather was brighter…poking about in the rocks while the tide was out…it was amazing…I was in a stage of feeling a little tired of being incessantly ‘on-the-road’…that morning however, in my sun-kissed scramblings on the rocks, I was blessed by an encounter with a beautiful huge black crab. We stopped and gazed at each other for quite some time…I breathed deep into the experience and took the message that I, like the crab, am of course truly at home always, wherever I am…I have my backpack just as he has his shell…my style is a little more complex than his, admittedly…and yet, I resonated and felt at peace…thanks little friend ;)

Simply Raw, Speaking and Spirulina...

I’m excited to say I’m going to be speaking at the second annual Simply Raw Festival in Ottawa, Canada on September the 15th :) Home of the infamous ‘Raw Pie Contest’, this is a wonderful FREE family event, from 10am-5pm in Ottawa’s Central Park. I’ll be speaking in the afternoon, along with Matt, Dorit and Brendan Brazier – yeeeeeee-HAH – hope to see you there if you’re in the area…

On August the 18th I had:

2 litres water
½ large papaya
800ml celery/cucumber/apple/ginger/fennel/radish/romaine juice
bowl of exquisite kale salad with heirloom tomatoes, avocado, lemon juice, dulse, red pepper, sprouts and sauerkraut
1 litre water
2 persimmons/Sharon fruit (YAY;)
700ml spinach/carrot/romaine juice
slice of leftover banana bread with cream cheese topping
1 litre water
400ml rooibos tea

One reader - Gail - wrote recently asking me to explain what ‘spirulina sticks’ are – which have been popping up intermittently in my intake of late…hmmmm...well…to be honest, I really don’t know…lol…a friend brought them back from Auroville, the ‘eco-city’ in India - they are tiny little crunchy sticks of spirulina - see pic – absolutely amazing texture and taste – like tiny little bits of crunchy spirulina-flavoured pretzels ;) As far as we know, there is nothing in there but spirulina and it’s hand-harvested and dried in the sun in Auroville…I’m very interested to know more too though , as I’ve never seen spirulina like it…perhaps this is how it looks when it’s just been harvested, before it’s ground to the powder we’re more familiar with…hmmmm…

on August the 19th I had:

1.5 litres water
1 box blueberries
800ml cucumber/celery/apple/radish/ginger juice
800ml ‘garden’ juice
box of strawberries
1 litre water
1.5 durians
3 persimmons
1 litre water

Yep...t'was another durian day ;) We went to play out in London – eat durian and go to the theatre…FUN :) We gave a homeless Chinese guy in Chinatown a whole durian, which he seemed very happy about…and we saw a darkly hilarious film from New Zealand called ‘Eagle vs Shark’ about an archetypal ‘loser’ pair who fall in love…very amusing…and inspired me to get on back to New Zealand…I was there back in 2000 – before I went raw…I absolutely LOVED it…Matt and I will in fact be down there this winter sometime, doing talks and a bit of travelling…we’d love to hear from you if you have suggestions for places you’d like to hear us talk there – email me at angela@rawreform.com and we’ll see what we can dream into being ;)

'Urban' Raw Foodism...

MMmmmmmmm, yumminess abounding…have you been listening to the free Raw Summit calls…? Hope you’ve enjoyed the sharing so far – I’m impressed with it – I think Kevin’s such a great interviewer – I love how he delves into stuff that doesn’t always get covered in interviews – a rare talent ;) Tomorrow night (Wednesday the 15th) is Matt Monarch’s talk (yay;) then mine, somewhat appropriately, the day after, on Thursday – hope you can make it along for the calls. Remember too that if you miss the calls when they air (8pm EST each day) you can still listen to them FREE for the following 24 hours, until the next call goes out…if you are still yet to sign up, or want to read more, click HERE…enjoy ;)

On August the 12th I had:

1.5 litres water
500ml rejuvelac
tiny glass of orange juice
big glass of amazing courgette (zucchini) juice, followed by lashings of green ‘garden’ juice with apple
bowl of ground chia seed blended with banana and mulberries
bits of raw chocs and treats, sprout/greens salad with tomato sauce, apple pie and herbal tea at a raw potluck
2 litres water

We manifested such a bargain today – a Breville Juice Fountain Juicer for £1 ($2) at a car boot sale (like a big swap-meet/garage sale with many vendors in one field, selling things from the trunks of their cars) :O…wow…we’ve been using the tiny little random centrifugal juicer I bought my Dad years ago for the past few days…the Juice Fountain feels like SUCH an improvement – we are so blessed – we’d been talking about buying a new one for the house, then while out jogging, found ourselves at a huge sale, where the juicer sat waiting for us near the entrance…the Juice Fountain is one of those amazing juicers with a HUGE hole for the produce, so we can literally juice whole apples in one go – much less chopping involved – almost none in fact – it’s SO fast…I love it…see HERE for more info on them...we’ve been juicing whole giant courgettes (zucchini) – if you’ve never tried that juice straight, I’d highly recommend it – it is so smooth and milky – yummmm…

on August the 13th I had:

1.5 litres water
300ml rejuvelac
tiny glass of orange/grapefruit juice
800ml veggie juice
big bowl of salad with greens, dulse, sprouts, red pepper and flax seed/tomato dressing
400ml rose/chamomile tea
500ml water
500ml courgette (zucchini) juice
3 peaches
sprinkling of spirulina sticks
bowl of ground chia seeds blended with apple juice & bananas, swirled with mulberries and pine nuts
2 litres water

I was speaking with Rob from Funky Raw the other day and he said he no longer buys greens – he picks all his own – and he lives in CENTRAL LONDON – now, that is SO inspiring for me as a raw-foodist-forager-wannabe…imagine…freshly picked wild food is SO much more vital than shop-bought/days-old/limp/ produce that’s possibly been flown many miles…even if it IS organic ;) It strikes me often that most of what’s going on with the raw food movement at the moment seems so 'urban' – it’s recipe books and appliances and beautiful restaurants and so on – rather than foraging and getting your hands dirty and composting ;) Well, it is what it is…I know for me that my heart and body resonate a lot more towards simplicity though, in my truth…and tuned-in foraging skills would be SO exciting to me…hmmmmm…Rob says he’ll be heading up some foraging walks at the Funky Raw Festival which starts on August the 22nd, near Portsmouth...nice…more details HERE

In Gratitude and Bliss...

WOW…
Thank you SO much for ALL the incredible, beautiful, loving messages myself and Matt have received over the last couple of days – we really appreciate all the amazing supportive yumminess you send in our direction and beam it all straight backatcha too ;) We feel extremely blessed…thank you…
I had SUCH a lovely birthday yesterday…Matt and some of the UK raw lovelies had arranged a surprise raw potluck in a park…wow ;) I didn’t know WHERE we were going – we were just wandering up through a park as far as I knew – then suddenly I saw someone waving at us from across the green and realised it was one of my soul sistas, who I hadn’t seen in over a year, who shares the same birthday as me and who I thought I wouldn’t get to see on our day of celebration – WOW – I ran across the grass to meet her and it all unfolded into a magical afternoon of raw picnic-ing with wonderful friends in the sun, as more and more people arrived to join in the fun :) I was SO happy – it was a wonderful treat…

1 litre water

Tomorrow (Sunday August the 12th), is the new moon in LEO – here is some of the commentary on this powerful day from master astrologer Lisa Dale Miller:

“…this is the New Moon to uncover your own gift and then let it blossom and evolve as you give it to the world at large.
If you have had some creative project simmering on the back burner for the last couple of years, this is a powerful time to take it out, dust it off and see if it still has juice for you. If so, start to work with it again during this New Moon cycle.
...this is the perfect New Moon to look deeply at how much of what you say and do, is done to appease an inner need for attention and recognition of specialness, rather than a selfless, heartfelt, compassionate desire to heal.
True self-esteem is built by developing a calm center from which all decisions are made and all actions are undertaken. A real leader feels a tremendous responsibility to share their talent in an effort to make life better for everyone around us. Use this New Moon to look at how much of your time you share your talents to help others in need.
This is the New Moon for romance. When it comes to love, Leo loves romance; full-blown choreographed romance…if you are just not getting enough attention from your partner, or you are lonely and looking for love, this is the New Moon to create a powerful ritual to invoke and invite romance into your life.”

AAAAUUUWWWWWWWW – thanks Lisa ;) sounds divine – to read her whole article, click HERE

ENJOY ;)

Cacao at the Summit...

Another Public Service Reminder ;)

Raw Summit, the inspiring free series of teleconference calls with 12 of the world’s leading authorities on raw foods, kicks off TONIGHT with yesterday’s birthday boy, David Wolfe…

THOUSANDS of people from all over the world are already signed up – don’t miss out ;) If you haven’t signed up for the series yet, you can click HERE to see the impressive schedule for the next couple of weeks and get yourself on the list…

You can listen to the whole series for FREE and upgrade packages with lots of bonuses are available too… Visit the link that is emailed to you when you sign up to get the dial-in info for each call…
I speak on August the 16th – hope you can make it along for the call ;)

On August the 7th I had:

1.2 litres water
300ml rejuvelac
750ml ‘garden’ juice
big yummy salad – greens, dulse, avo, sprouts, chives, watercress, lemon juice, sauerkraut, with fresh homemade flax crackers
handful of goji berries with pine nuts
500ml peppermint tea
400ml water
600ml celery/cucumber/carrot/ginger juice
bowl of chia seeds soaked in blended pear/lime juice/ginger mixture, with sultanas, maca, lucuma and pumpkin seeds stirred in…WOW…
raw ‘conscious chocolate’ – yummmmm…
1 litre water

So, as the modern-day cacao-king kicks off the Raw Summit tonight, I'd like to, rather 'synchronistically' muse on the subject of raw chocolate...Ok, so I was away from the UK for about a year before coming back now…I was advised beforehand that it had all gone rather ‘cacao-crazy’ in the raw food movement here and well, yep, judging by the number of new raw chocolate bars I see all over the place here in the shops, it seems to me it is indeed all pretty chocolate-covered here now ;) There are many choices for people – and I can see it's a useful way of potentially opening up larger and larger numbers of people to raw foods in GENERAL – get them ‘hooked’ into raw with chocolate instead of the proverbial ‘carrot’ and THEN get them onto the real carrots and other goodies…in a nation of committed chocolate-lovers, it seems like a winning strategy ;)
BTW, it seems some of you could not find access to the link to the chia seeds yesterday…so here it is again in full, just in case:

In Response to Three Recent Emails...

WOW. Recently I received an email declaring:

“A new study out of Johns Hopkins University finds that 75 PERCENT OF AMERICANS WILL BE OVERWEIGHT BY 2015; TWO-THIRDS CONSIDERED HEAVY OR OBESE NOW; RATE STILL INCREASING.”

Eeeeeeeeeeek…wow, people…this situation is getting pretty extraordinary…as you may have seen in the latest RawReform newsletter, I’m in the process of writing a new book which will be printed as a ‘real’ bound volume, available in stores – hurray ;) - it is my intention to help masses more people heal themselves with this info and I want to include OUR stories to encourage them…raw food before and after pics tell it all, they encourage people towards the truth so succinctly. If you have a story you’d love to share, please email angela@rawreform.com with a paragraph about it and a before/after photo…let’s help the shift onwards into the light…

On August the 3rd I had:

1 litre water
200ml orange juice
800ml green juice with carrots
1 fresh corn cob
1 box of blackberries
raw food bar
bag of freshly picked local cherries
1 litre water
700ml green juice
avo/dulse/greens salad on fresh flax crackers
1 litre water

Somebody else wrote to me recently saying that it seems to them like I don’t eat much…this was interesting for me, as it seems to ME like I eat quite a lot..hmmm…different perspectives ;)
…things tend to change a LOT in terms of quantities consumed when you go completely raw. Over time, the body cleans and strips down and you become a more efficient 'machine' at assimilating foods, so you start to require less quantity, to get all the nutrition you need…I’ve been on this path for over 5 years now and with the 92-day Juice-Feast mega-cleanse thrown in too, I’m a pretty efficient ‘machine’ these days ;) The longer you're raw, the less your body requires in terms of quantity, which can often be very challenging for people emotionally to deal with...ahhhh, it’s all a journey and we all have our own marvellous experiments to enjoy…

On August the 4th I had:

1 litre water
250ml orange juice

500ml peppermint tea
1 litre water

I received this in another lovely email message today:

“We need four hugs a day for survival. We need eight hugs a day for maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for growth." --Virginia Satir

Mmmmm-hmmmmm…I really hear that…I avoided physical contact with others for SO many years as a morbidly obese person. I deprived myself of so many years of intimacy, as I felt like it was not ‘appropriate’ for me to have physical contact with anyone – like I was too ‘disgusting’ for anyone to be near…wow…what a life perspective ;) Now sharing hugs with others is one of my simplest and most enriching pleasures ;) I am still shy at times to initiate physical contact with others, yet when I DO reach out and hug another, I feel the joyous energy flow and I know that it benefits all involved ;) ahhhhhhhh…breathe deep, send love, share HUGS ;)

Visionaries...

In case you didn’t see my little announcement yet, I’m really excited to be participating in the Raw Food World Summit, which is kicking off on August the 7th and features 12 top speakers on raw foods, sharing their stuff, tele-conference style…yeeeeee-HAH ;)
You can sign up for FREE, or invest in the other packages on offer, HERE.

On July the 26th I had:

1 litre water
500ml celery/cucumber/apple juice
½ tbsp greener grasses powder
1 litre water
chia seeds with blended apples, goji berries, raisins, maca and lucuma powder
400ml dandelion tea
bag of cherries
1 persimmon
1 litre water
spinach, romaine, avo, dulse, raw cauliflower curry, waldorf salad, flax crackers
1 litre water
400ml orange/cinnamon tea

Somebody left a comment recently asking about drinking tea…yes, I LOVE it – especially in cold places and simple teas like peppermint or dandelion that I feel offer some function too (i.e. aiding digestion). I tend to put hot water on the tea, then drink it much later when it’s cooled down OR add cold water sooner, to be able to drink it sooner – I do not enjoy drinking anything hot anymore…sun teas are my favourite way of making tea as a raw foodie – though England seems to be…hmmmmmm…rather severely clenched in sun-shortage right now…wow…it’s like someone left the tap on since I left last summer ;) Thanks to all of you who braved the winds though and turned out for Matt Monarch’s raw food lecture in London on Friday night – it was FUN to see so many enthusiastic faces here, brightening up grey London…hurray :) Thanks for a great gathering :)

on July the 27th I had:

1 litre water
1 chopped apple and a handful of blackberries
600ml green juice with apple and fennel
bowl of chia seeds soaked in apple juice with lucuma powder, goji berries, dried mulberries and maca
400ml dandelion tea
1 litre water
3 tbsps bee pollen mixed with hemp seeds and cardamom powder
1 litre water
6 persimmons, 1 fig and some incredible raw chocolate ;)
1 litre water

...and so, from one Aquarian to another...the moon is about to be full in Aquarius – this Sunday or Monday, depending which continent you’re on ;)
Lisa Dale Miller describes this as the full moon of ‘the visionary’ or ‘guru’. This is:

“A night dedicated to thanking all our teachers, in every walk of life. An Aquarius Full Moon asks us to especially honor unique and revolutionary teachers: those who vision far out beyond the rest of us. Those dedicated to upliftment, freedom, utopianism and humanitarianism.

This is a night to step into your own sense of teaching and service by breaking down the attraction to focusing only on your own life. Selfless giving to others is a true Aquarian vision of working for the collective upliftment of all sentient beings. This is the Full Moon for involvement in something larger than you.

This is the Full Moon to honor freedom, idealism, humanitarianism, egalitarianism, and the revolutionary impulse toward reform, without causing harm to anyone. Aquarius is the impulse to raise-up everyone and leave no one behind. So in service to these calls to action, become responsible and find out what is really happening around you. Get involved in your community, volunteer your time, and raise awareness in your neighborhood.”

WOW…yummy…a powerful time to step into your OWN power and shimmy on into the light with ALL your brothers and sisters :) You can read the whole of Lisa Dale Miller’s piece HERE.

Enjoy,

Wizards...

So, today was the ‘Day out of Time’ in the 13 moon calendar…that seemed to fit my day very appropriately, as I flew through the air/time/space/fields from Canada to England…feeling pretty disembodied still right now, fuzzy and a little jet-lagged…so…I can really resonate with having a ‘day out of time’… ;)
We’re leaving the year of the ‘Red Magnetic Skywalker’ and entering the ‘White Lunar Wizard’. Today was a day in between worlds...here’s a message someone sent me about this shift:

“The Day out of Time is always synchronized with July 25th.
This day is an extremely powerful opportunity for global focus with
planetary kin who are dedicated to establishing a New Time of Peace on Earth and the Creative Emergence of Galactic Culture and Planet Art for the Benefit of All Beings!”

Hope you had a great one and may your time with the White Lunar Wizard be joyful and abundant ;)

On July the 24th I had:

1.5 litres water
1 litre ‘garden’ juice – cabbage, celery, cucumber, bell pepper, beet greens, sunflower greens, lime juice
big bowl of yummy green smoothie – whole head of romaine with 2 bananas and 3 peaches, with whole goji berries swirled in for chewing
1 litre water
1 litre watermelon juice
kale salad – kale, sunflower greens, baby greens, avo, lemon juice, tomatoes, dulse
1 banana
1 litre water

This was posted by Mark on the Juice Feaster’s Google Group today – he’s on Day 80 of his current Juice Feast – CONGRATULATIONS Mark and thanks for sharing these beautiful words (in response to a request for guidance…;)

“Well, I can't really tell you what to do; I can only tell you what I've done. Don't make too much of it. Don't think of it as anything too special. Think of it as business as usual. Don't think of it in terms of 92 days. 92 days is nothing. It's a heartbeat. Of course, thinking of it in terms of not eating seems like a long time. So don't think about 92 days. Take it one day at a time. Your job on day 5 is to get to day 6 and that is all. Tomorrow your job will be to get to day 7. There is no such thing as 92 days anyway, There is only now. Now you are juicing. In 92 days it will now again. It's always now. Don't get too proud of yourself. Realize that you can fall flat at anytime, so never be too proud. Be humble. Think that if I can do this, anybody can.”

Lovely…you can visit the Google Group to connect with others about Juice Feasting HERE.

On July the 25th I had:

1.5 litres water
1 box blueberries
1 litre water
2 tbsp ‘greener grasses’ powder
500ml water
3 golden kiwis
500ml water
meal of avo/dulse/lemon/spinach/greens and seeds
2 squares of raw food bar
400ml orange/cinnamon tea
1 litre water

PUBLIC SERVICE REMINDER:

Matt Monarch is giving his only UK raw food lecture this year, this Friday, the 27th, in Camden, London. This looks set to be a fantastic event, with people coming together from all over the UK to hear the hairy Aquarian speak… ;) The doors open at 7pm and you can see more details for the event HERE

FIRE IT UP, BABY ;)

Alright everyone, I hope as you read this you are either READY to ‘Fire the Grid' on the morning of the 17th of July OR you already did it and had a FABULOUS time ;)

For those unfamiliar with ‘Fire the Grid’, basically the idea is very simple… at the allotted time, everyone, worldwide, is invited to enjoy ‘firing up the grid’ of the planet with joy, love and appreciation ;)

The three recommended methods to ‘Fire the Grid’ are:

1. Random, spontaneous acts of kindness.
2. Enjoying whatever it is that you feel happy doing, and noticing that happiness. Feeling grateful for this joy.
3. Listening to uplifting music. Filling your space with uplifting images, colors and music…

You can watch an Intro Video about the whole thing HERE on YouTube.

The times for participation are (among others) 11.11am GMT, 12.11pm UK time, 7.11am EST, 4.11am PST.

ENJOY – for ALL our sakes ;)

On July the 16th I had:

1.5 litres water
small glass of green smoothie with rejuvelac
handful of cherries
500ml water
romaine lettuce, dulse and sunflower sprouts with sunflower seed cheese blended with rejuvelac, cayenne and cumin – yummm
1.5 litres water
700ml green juice with apple and fennel
handful of gorgeous raspberries
500ml water
500ml green smoothie – bananas/spinach/apple pulp/drop of honey/rejuvelac with goji berries swirled in…yummmmm…
500ml water

Another reader’s question from the comments:

‘…how long do you wait after eating to drink water? I notice you drink A LOT of water, and I want to drink more water myself but i was told to wait 3 hours after eating. and if i'm only eating between 11 and 7 its difficult to get 3 meals in and lots of water and juices, or so it seems.’

Yes, I drink a LOT of water – I LOVE it – it feels vital to me – especially first thing in the morning – that’s when I usually take in the biggest amount in one go – before I take anything else in. If I don’t have at LEAST a litre at that point, I don’t feel set-up well for the rest of the day. AFTER eating, I like to ideally wait abt an hour before drinking water again – this varies though, depending on what it was I ate. If I had a simple mono-meal of fruits for example, that will be digested in around 30mins and then I’ll feel fine to drink again…a heavier meal though – like a big salad with some fats etc – is a different situation – I’d wait at LEAST an hour usually before drinking water again, so as not to dilute the stomach acid…it may be longer, depending on how much it feels like I have digested the food…usually, whenever I DO drink water, I drink quite a lot in one go – like 500ml or more, so that in the space of a day I get at least about 4 litres/1 gallon in – that feels optimal to me at this point…
Hope that helps… ;)

All love,
Angela. xxx

Life just keeps on getting sweeter here in the company of this beautiful, vibrant raw family…the way they speak with each other, the things they share, the openness, caring, genuine contact and appreciation…it’s SO wonderful to see and experience such a healthy, joyful family unit in action…and YOU can even see them in action too if you like ;) They made a DVD documentary about their way of life called ‘Raising Children Raises Us’ – which you can see more about HERE. It was shown at the Raw Film Festie in Hollywood earlier this year…mum of the family, Shannon, also wrote an accompanying article of the same name, which you can see HERE on the main RawReform site – beautiful people ;) I feel so blessed to be learning here alongside them and grateful that there are people here enjoying this way of life and modelling it for others like this...how blessed we ALL are for that...these are truly the raw wonder-kids of a new generation ;)

This comment was just left after my last post here:

“...I dont think i'm digesting food well enough. I feel "backed up". I eat lots of fruit and veggies and have added flax oil to my smoothies and juices I'm chewing my food carfully and drinking pleanty of water and even taking e-3 live. I'm at a very healthy weight, but I feel like I need a good internal cleaning done i'm only able to "go" once a day on average and Its never enough. I've been considering taking colon cleansing pills, but I'm really confused as to weather this is a good idea at all and if I should just stick to eating more fruits and veggies instead. do you have any advice?”

Well, I certainly have some guidance, yes…do some colon cleansing. I would recommend you immediately go and get a series of colonics with a registered colon hydrotherapist – preferably 5-6 to start with. This is a KEY element for people to handle detox well – keeping up with the waste that is being released into your system. Most of us have DECADES of old junk stored in our cells…going raw is like going into a life-long cleanse – like hitting the ‘clean out cells NOW’ button and the body starts to throw out all kind of waste. The colon can quickly get overwhelmed if you’re still EATING and so it’s dealing with the usual flow of waste, PLUS all the old waste too, that you’re trying to suddenly eliminate now…there is SO much to say about all this and what it really comes down to is this: you can go raw and NOT do colon cleansing if you like…you can do that…you’re just not going to have anywhere NEAR as easy time of it as if you did some colon cleansing…I recommend too that you get hold of a good enema bag to do ‘maintenance’ cleansing at home. There are fabulous 6-quart bags you can get now, from HERE. These huge bags work almost as well as having a professional colonic – they’re quite amazing for getting all the way round the colon, clearing everything out.
I would also recommend you read something like Dr Norman Walker’s ‘Colon Health’ book – HERE. As he so wonderfully puts it:

"Not to cleanse the colon is like having the entire garbage collecting staff in your city go on strike for days on end."
Dr. Norman Walker, D. SC., PhD.

Colon health is integral to the health of your whole body and not to be underestimated...so yes, please, by all means, TAKE CARE OF YOUR COLON ;)

The Kitchen's Alive With The Sound Of Music...

As some of you know, I've done a fair amount of singing in my time...and I love a bit of it...I also have a particular penchant for musicals...well, I had FUN today…watch below to see why…

…yep… ;) and here are the lyrics for those who didn’t quite follow…

Green juice with apples
And hemp seeds with pollen
Spirooli slicers and melons by the dozen
Banana ice cream that’s good for me,
These are a few of my favourite things…

Magical durian parties…oh, WOW…
Loved up on maca and blissed out on cacao
People who don’t ask ‘where do you get protein?’
These are a few of my favourite things…

When your stomach hurts,
When your colon aches,
‘cos you’re eating SAD
Simply remember to eat more raw foods and then you won’t feel SO bad…

Feeling so vibrant from all the live enzymes,
Foraging wild foods which buzz up my third eye
Composting, rebounding and sweating,
These are a few of my favourite things…

When your stomach hurts,
When your colon aches,
‘cos you’re eating SAD
Simply remember to eat more raw foods and then you won’t feel SO bad…

On July the 7th I had:

1.5 litres water
500ml rejuvelac
big bowl of cherries
small salad of spinach, sunflower greens and sauerkraut with flax crackers and an experimental dressing of coconut butter, red pepper, olives and rejuvelac…
1 litre water
500ml rejuvelac
½ box blueberries
600ml green juice with apple
1 litre smoothie – banana/romaine/cherry/spirulina
500ml water

Ooooo, I’m going to be speaking in Barrie in Ontario on July the 17th – just announced – see the RawReform Events Calendar HERE for more info…

I do hope you’ll be enjoying YOUR favourite raw things today too ;)

Wild Things...

Hellooooooo, I do hope all you Americans have been enjoying some wonderful (raw) Independence Day celebrations today ;)
I’ve had a fun time – I just gave a raw food talk here tonight in Canada for the first time in abt 5 weeks and it was great to speak again with a large crowd…I feel so immersed in raw foodism these days, I forget how many people are still new to this path – it’s exciting to share with people for whom this is all totally fresh…wow...it's amazing to think that we've become so accustomed in our societies to consuming denatured, processed things, that many humans struggle to even conceive of eating 'only' raw foods...how curious we are as a species...sometimes I look at the essence of what a lot of my work these days entails and it seems a little absurd - all it really is, after all, is telling people to eat food that comes directly from nature...I don't believe such events happen among cheetah or antelope populations, for example... ;) they do not seem to need meetings to remind each other what is most beneficial to them to eat...yet we humans seem to have wandered so far from the 'wild' path that we can definitely use a reminder and some support here and there...

On July the 4th I had:

1.5 litres water
600ml cucumber/celery/fennel/lemon juice
box of raspberries
500ml water
bowl of soaked chia seed with bananas, lucuma, goji berries, pinch of salt
500ml water
box of cherries
3 tbsp hemp seed and bee pollen
box of strawberries
bunch of red grapes
1 litre water

I am SO into red foods at the moment…look at this list today – raspberries, gojis, cherries, strawberries, red grapes…full of iron, energising, grounding –plus these are all low glycemic, aside from the grapes…I LOVE it…yesterday I also forgot to say that I foraged some fresh berries on a hike - mmmmmm...some very yummy different red and black berries...plus some wild greens that had my third eye chakra POUNDING...wow...it blows me away everytime - the difference in the power I feel from fresh-picked wild foods, compared to shop bought greens...completely different voltage ;)
One reader – Dana – sent in some great feedback abt the ‘toilet talk’ from yesterday: in her bathroom she has a sign that says: "Do not flush unless you have a SOLID reason" and she uses ‘a double thickness plastic zip-loc bag filled with water as a "hippo".’ NICE…thanks for sharing, Dana ;)

Toilet Talk...

Ok, there have been so many requests for the elusive 5TH DAY video of the liver cleanse I did earlier this year, that I’m going to list the full set of links here for all to enjoy. The 5th video wouldn’t fit onto YouTube for some reason – too big file or smthg – which is why it ended up on Google instead – sorry for confusion ;)
(Wow…amazing to think that this liver cleanse was 3 months ago now…this year really feels exceptionally fast to me…)

Liver Cleanse Video Links:

DAY 5: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-2907709016184333803

and a reminder, the protocol I used was Andreas Moritz's spectacularly-named 'The Amazing Liver and Gall Bladder Cleanse'...ENJOY ;)

On June the 2nd I had:

1.5 litres water
800ml green juicebox of raspberries
soaked chia seed with blended soaked prunes, lucuma, banana, spirulina and goji berries
2 litres water
8 apricots
1 casaba melon
1 litre water
bowl of baby spinach with sauerkraut
500ml water

I’ve stopped flushing the toilet. LOL…I’m sorry, that’s probably a bit more information than some of you were expecting…but I’m happy to share about this…I once saw a sign that said

‘if it’s yellow, let it mellow; if it’s brown, flush it down…’

and that’s what I’ve been following of late…I like it because it means a LOT less water is used daily in this house. Another great thing people can use of course is ‘hippos’ – bags that sit in your toilet cistern and prevent so much water being used with each flush…you can get those free often from water conservancy places – in the UK you used to be able to get them from CAT
I recall Wolfie describing urine as ‘sacred’ at one point when I heard him speak last year and that it’s a great gift to share it with other plants and so on outside…I love that…I don’t often choose to share in this way in urban settings however…so, for now, the mellowing of the yellow is my favourite eco-approach ;) (…thanks…)

On June the 3rd I had:

1.5 litres water
1.2 litres watermelon juice
1 litre green smoothie – bananas, romaine, spirulina, water with goji berries thrown in for magical-chewability…
500ml water
2tbsp fresh bee pollen
bunch of red grapes
500ml water
piece of raw ‘rye’ bread with sauerkraut, no-bean hummus, spinach
bowl of watermelon flesh (yummmmmmmmmm)
500ml water

I have a request: I am looking for a bespoke jeweller. If you are a yummy, talented jeweller who is experienced with creating beautiful, unique pieces, especially working with precious gems, please get in touch. Please email me at angela@rawreform.com with details of your work, or if you know of a jeweller who you’d love to recommend, please let me know too ;) THANKS…
Ooo, and a quick reminder for those of you in the area – I speak tomorrow night in Hamilton, Ontario, at the Goodness Me Health Food Store – see the event details HERE:

Three Things I LOVE :)

Number 1: Spinach
Don’t worry…I haven’t been neglecting my tongue scraping…it’s spinach…I just LOVE baby spinach leaves…they taste like BUTTER to me…do you get that flavour too…? I will happily just snack on them straight from the bag…and this particular leaf pictured happened to be an exact match for my tongue… ;)

On June the 27th I had:

2 litres water
big bowl of cherries
500ml water
1.2 litres green smoothie – banana, romaine, spirulina
500ml water
1 litre watermelon juice
salad containing fresh young greens, watercress, basil, cilantro, spinach, cumin, lemon juice, avocado, sauerkraut, red bell pepper and dulse. Flax crackers and jalapeno/cilantro dip
spoon of chocolate/coconut spread
1 litre water

Number 2: Watermelon Juice
I am also extremely excited about watermelon juice at the moment. It’s been one of my favourite juices, without question, since starting the Juice Feast back in November…HOWEVER…I had NO idea just quite how amazing it was for me until I read a little bit about it in a book of the teachings of dear old ‘Wiggie’ Ann Wigmore herself – listen to this:

“Watermelon…is the most alkaline of any fruit or vegetable, providing a great aid for overcoming any acid condition.
Watermelon rind is rich in protein, vitamins A, B, C, enzymes and minerals, chlorophyll…watermelon juice plays a great role in bringing the body to its normal balance…”

WOW :O I LOVE it…the yummiest, cleanest-feeling juice with an incredible alkalising action…how blessed we are…be sure to buy organic and juice the WHOLE thing though – seeds, rind and all, for maximum benefits... ;)

On June the 28th I had:

2 litres water
bowl of watermelon flesh
1 litre romaine/banana/spirulina smoothie
3 peaches
800ml water
small bunch of grapes
800ml cucumber/celery/apple/ginger juice
small salad with spinach, watercress, avo, lime, cumin, dulse, sauerkraut, flax crackers and jalepeno/cilantro dip
3 choco treats
1.5 litres water

Number 3: Rebounding
I LOVE rebounding…anyone who has heard me speak at lectures about exercise will likely know that this is my favourite form of exercise…in fact it is one of my current conditions for agreeing to live permanently anywhere in the future – there must be a rebounder available ;) another condition is that the location is by a large body of water…well, the universe being the blessed manifestor of dreams that it is, has brought forth both for me already in my current location and I LOVE it…bouncing about on a trampoline daily while gazing out over a serene, huge forest-fringed lake is so divine to me…and rebounding is such an incredible way to exercise – there’s some crazy statistic that 5 minutes of rebounding is the equivalent of about 20 MINS jogging…wow…I know which one I’d rather choose…;) You can see more about the marvelous Needak rebounders HERE

Luminescent....

Ooooooo, I’m excited about Living Luminaries - a new film that’s started to show, from the Spiritual Cinema Circle. The director contacted me about it this week and I watched the trailer here:

Looks great to me :) In the same kind of line as 'The Secret' and ‘What the Bleep do We Know…?’, this one is subtitled ‘The Serious Business of Happiness’ and includes interviews about creating happiness and enjoyment with all kinds of people spreading the light, such as Eckhart Tolle, Gary Renard and Don Jose Ruiz…looks very inspiring…more info HERE…enjoy…

On June the 23rd I had:

1 litre water
little box of cherries
3 peaches
10 fresh figs
500ml water
1 litre greens with carrot juice
1 durian
huge amount of raw chocolate
1.5 litres water

Ok, it was a bit of a cacao ‘party weekend’ here ;) …and now it feels like recovery time for me…nothing too severe…definitely a far cry from the alcohol hangovers I used to bring on myself…this contrast felt pretty apparent to me on Sunday night as I sat in a comedy club surrounded by people drinking alcohol, eating nachos and so on – and there were we, munching on raw chocolate – something which to me feels like an equivalent of alcohol these days, yet to most people in that room would be like having health food probably… ;) Interesting contrast…anyway, I’m MUCH happier to be dealing with my current slight cracao hangover and knowing my antioxidant levels are quite probably through-the-roof right now, rather than feeling grouchy and drained from drinking grog… ;)

on June the 24th I had:

1 litre water
big bowl of cherries
2 shots of E3 Live
800ml green juice with carrots
8 dried figs
1 litre water
big kale/avo/tomato/dulse salad with flax crackers
cacophony of cacao
1.5 litres water

I was happy to receive this message a couple of days ago from a newsletter I subscribe to…it affirmed to me that OTHERS are also dealing with issues trying to deliver messages to Yahoo email addresses at the moment…

Notice to Yahoo subscribers: Because our emails are being blocked randomly and without explanation on the Yahoo mail servers, we cannot guarantee dependable delivery of our emails to you at this time. Adding us to your list of Safe Senders may help. However, if it is important to you to receive our updates, we recommend you change your email address to something other than Yahoo. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

Ok…so, it seems this is a widespread issue at the moment…I don’t know WHAT is happening with Yahoo, but if you are a user of their system, I’d love to encourage writing to them suggesting they relax their approach a bit…I don’t think I’d be too happy if MY email service wasn’t actually delivering my email to me… ;)

Sweeeeeet to Share...

I made a new webpage on YouTube – I’m excited :) I just learnt that I can make my own ‘channel’ to store all my videos together, as well as share my favourites with the world – I really like it – you can see it HERE: http://www.youtube.com/rawreform
Check out the UK news interview with Shazzie in my favourites section – I find it sooooo wonderful – she shines with all her truth and raw glory and the presenters just about implode with outrage ;) tee-hee-heeeeee ;) I love it…

On June the 21st I had:

1.5 litres water
bag of cherries
800ml celery/cucumber/apple/fennel juice
big green salad with avo, dill, cumin, salt, seaweeds
1.5 litres water
1 papaya
2 bananas mashed up with a handful of seeds, goji berries, pinch of salt and some lucuma powder
1 litre water

I am SO in love with lucuma powder…have you ever tried it…? Those of you who have heard me talk at lectures may remember me mentioning it…it’s EASILY my all-time favourite raw sweetener…it is made from a dried fruit from Peru (see picture above), comes as a golden powder which is low glycemic and it tastes like SHORTBREAD…just divine…that recipe I made up recently of raw honey mixed with ground almonds and lucuma is outrageously good…the nearest thing to raw shortbread I’ve ever tasted and so simple – just 3 ingredients…yummmmmmmmm…it’s not always easy to locate, but you can see more about lucuma and order some to start playing with for yourself HERE…ENJOY ;)

On June the 22nd I had:

1 litre water
500ml spice tea (coooooooooooold here in the morning)
big bowl of strawberries
1 litre celery/cucumber/apple/fennel juice
2 bananas mashed up with a handful of seeds, goji berries, pinch of salt and some lucuma powder
1 litre water
1 mango
3 litres watermelon juice
bowl of baby spinach, sunflower and broccoli sprouts, dulse and jalapeno/cilantro no-bean hummus
Explosion of raw cacao treats (uh-ohhhhhh…cracao-ed and dangerous… ;)
500ml water

I had a look at the stats for the RawReform E-journal recently and discovered that people are tuning into these musings daily from over 30 COUNTRIES worldwide…wow...predictably, most of us are located in Canada, the US, the UK and Australia, but a big HELLO and WELCOME too to those of you joining in from Brunei to the Solomon Islands, Poland to Pakistan, Malaysia, Venezuela and Morocco to Saudi Arabia, Barbados, Vietnam and beyond…WOW…what a global community we are of like-minded light beings ;) I'd be fascinated to hear about perceptions of the raw food lifestyle from some of you in these far-reaching places if you'd like to leave a comment... ;)

Much love and joy to all,
Angela. xxx
